On a talk show last fall, a prominent political analyst named Mikhail G. Delyagin had some tart words about Vladimir V. Putin. When the program was later televised, Mr. Delyagin was not. Not only were his remarks cut — he was also digitally erased from the show, like a disgraced comrade airbrushed from an old Soviet photo. (The technicians may have worked a bit hastily, leaving his disembodied legs in one shot.)

Even the governments in "Utopian" societies are corrupt.

Since when has Russia claimed to be "Utopian"?

Read Joel Rosenberg's books.

The Russian bear is coming out of hybernation.

You are aware that communism was supposed to be the perfect "Utopian" society, aren't you? You are also aware that Russia is a communist state?

Yes, I'm aware that communism is supposed to be a utopian state. I'm also aware that Russia hasn't been a communist state for almost 20 years.

That aside, the USSR never reached Marx's ideal level of Communism. And I think it's pretty clear that the USSR was never in any way Utopian.

My point is, even in societies where equality is proportedly priority number one, greedy and prideful men have and will always find a way to gather unto themselves an increasingly disprorptionate share of wealth and power. History is riddled with nations and peoples whose leaders were never satisfied with what they had and were all too willing to kill for, as well as risk the lives of their own people to obtain "more".
