The European Union warned the U.S. yesterday against plunging the world into depression by adopting a planned "Buy American" policy, intensifying fears of a trade war, the Times of London reported.

Despite what other nations think we do actually need to spend the bulk of this money on U.S. products if it is to have any impact. This is not to say that ALL products sold in the U.S. will suddenly be "made in the USA" but that our manufacturers should be buying as much raw material from the U.S. as they can, as it should be.

They seem to be concerned that Americans will suddenly stop buying imported goods it seems. This is not the case. I think they are over reacting but then again I don't honestly know how much raw material and components we buy from European nations. According to what I was hearing this morning, our economy is the largest in the world and larger than the next four top economies combined. Our economy directly effects the entire world and as our economy suffers so does theirs. Just look at the world economy and how many countries are having to "bail out" banks and so on. Our own mortgage/credit meltdown has had a global impact and so they look to us to fix it.

Personally I think it would be nice to see our government more focused on internal affairs and minding it's own business for a change. Our leaders have been sweeping things under the rug for so long it's beginning to wreak. I don't think we should even begin to think we can fix all these problem at one time and neither should or "leaders".
