The OP asked, is Water Baptism required for Salvation, not what kind of faith is required. Not quite the same thing Gary.
Maybe you can try and clarify your position on the OP.
I have tried that. It fell flat. My position is and will continue to be Yes it can be and No it is not. I have yet to see anyone who agrees with what I have said because to agree with what I say one must agree with me what saving faith is. Though the question of the OP does not directly address the topic of saving faith it cannot be separated from it.
Gary
OK well I will address this response of yours.
Water Baptism can NEVER be required for salvation.
Saving faith is what Paul says it is in Romans 10:9-10;
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
No water involved, just faith.
Your absolutely correct. Paul did not openly address a water baptism in these two verses but it is necessary to expound upon these verses in order to understand the depth of what they say with so few words. One must confess Jesus as Lord. That alone is more than enough to cover the necessity of obedience to every precept found in the word of God.
Gary
Then if you agree, I really don't understand your reticence to state this? Paul pretty much said all that is needed. There is nothing really to expand on, or expound for that matter. Simple confession and profession of who Christ is saves the human soul. It's not really complicated.
Simple confession. Biblical confession means to agree with that which was spoken and must be accompanied by the evidence of works that are particular to the confession or the confession is false.
Gary
Biblical confession means to agree with what God says is truth. God said Jesus is His son and our Messiah/Saviour. God says I accept that and I am saved. Faith, is the substance of things hoped for, the EVIDENCE of things NOT seen. Heb.11:1
James says if our WALK doesn't produce fruit, then our faith is dead. That does NOT negate the confession or make it false. James didn't say that. In any event this has nothing to do with salvation coming from water baptism. It has already been made clear, that faith ALONE, completely saves.
