The guys name was Arminius, so it is Arminian with an 'i'. Armenian is from Armenia. I think I could be wrong.

    Hebrews 6

Pat answeres don't work for us or for them. The word of God is much too rich for that. This was my answer to Owen: Joh 9:36 He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him? Joh 9:37 And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee. Joh 9:38 And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him. Joh 9:39 And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind. Joh 9:40 And some of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also? Joh 9:41 Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth. From Gill

    Hebrews 6

A Calvinist would shoot all that down from this statement: They would say, he cannnot do anything untill after he is born again. Man can not do anything. Ever. It is God working in you, and the first step is being born again. They think that if man must do anything then salvation is dependant on us and not God. Limited atonement: only pre selected ones are atoned for. This is what they gave me:

    Hebrews 6

Yes, that is exactly what I encountered. I haven't figured out exactly how to pin down its error. I don't think the 1500 years approach will work to well. First I thought 'limited atonement' would be an easy target, but now I am more inclined to think it is man's sovereignty that is the weakest point. The freedom of choice that God gave to Adam. I said, If God was not able or willing to intervene on the behalf of Adam to keep him from rebelling, in what manner is He going to ever keep us from sinning? Adam could have been kept from sinning, by not putting the tree in the garden and then allowing the serpent in. Adam did not know good and evil. We do. We sin by just thinking, we don't have to act it out. Locking us in a garden won't work. The tree is what made Adam free. It gave him the way out of the Garden. With no way out, he was a prisoner. If Jesus wanted prisoners for a bride, He could have saved Himself a trip to Calvary. A God who is LOVE, can do better than take a bride who has no other choice but to go through with the wedding, no matter how willing she is. Eph 5:31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. Eph 5:32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. It is tough to accept, but my wife has some sovereignty in this relationship. Strangely, I would not have it any other way. All Adam and Eve did when God came looking for them was admit guilt "I did eat". They were worthy of death. No expression of remorse, no asking forgiveness, no repentance. All that would come later. Their admission did not change anything about their condition. They were just as dead in sin after as before. As dead as the worst sinner is today. BUT the next sentence from the mouth of God was the promise of redemption from the seed of the woman. Adam was saved, becasue God had a plan. We love HIM because HE first loved us and purchased our salvation on Calvary. Angels did not know the depth of God's love. Adam did not know. Even Abraham and all the OT saints, were not able to comprhend it. But we do. Rom 11:33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! Rom 11:34 For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor? Rom 11:35 Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again? Rom 11:36 For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen. Eph 3:14 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Eph 3:15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, Eph 3:16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; Eph 3:17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, Eph 3:18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; Eph 3:19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Eph 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Eph 3:21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

  8. A very good post Wisdom. That is similar to the teaching in the link I posted above. I find it boggling how people think that any Holiday is
  9. I have looked at this as Jesus saying there is none good but God, are you calling Me God? This is from JB Lightfoot: A few people have suggested this young man was John Mark that accompanied Paul and Barnabas.
  10. Hey Hillson, This is a web site I visist often and there is an audio message in MP3 you can listen to. Halloween: Invitation To The Occult? The message goes into all the background and what it means for Christians.
  11. Genesis begins - In the beginning and proceeds forward. John begins - In the beginning and goes backwards - was. These opening verses are actually a genology of the eternal WORD that became flesh. 1Co 2:7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: 1Co 2:8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. They knew He was the SON of God, yes--- but they did not know, they had no idea, He was GOD Himself in the flesh.
  12. Didn't I see where the Senate had voted themselves another raise for about the third year in a row? Vote all you want, but first try to figure out who is counting them. Democracy = shamocracy is more like it.

  14. This arrived in my email box: As you walk up the steps to the Supreme Court you can see near the top of the building a row of the world's law givers and each one is facing an individual in the middle, who in turn is facing forward with a full frontal view - - it is Moses and the Ten Commandments! As you enter the Supreme Court courtroom, each of the two huge oak doors have the Ten commandments engraved on the lower portion of each door. As you sit inside the courtroom you will observe above where the Supreme Court judges sit, a display of the Ten Commandments! There are Bible verses etched in stone on many of the Federal Buildings and Monuments throughout Washington, D.C.. James Madison, the fourth president, known as "The Father of Our Constitution" made the following statement "We have staked the whole of all our political institutions upon the capacity of mankind for self-government, upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to control ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God." Patrick Henry, that patriot and Founding Father of our country said, "It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded not by religionists but by Christians, not on religions but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ ". Every session of Congress begins with a prayer by a paid preacher whose salary has been paid by the taxpayers of the country since 1777. Fifty-two of the 55 founders of the Constitution were members of established orthodox churches in the colonies. I would just add that is one of the very few mentions of the name of Jesus in quotes from the founders of this country.
  15. No I have no figures on this. I read that a great many had become pregnant, 50% but I do not readily accept that. One marine actually gave birth on a cruiser in the gulf. Is that any way to fight a war?

  17. I came across some interesting facts regarding the wise men today. That might shed a little light to the following verse: Mat 2:3 When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. Babylon (Iraq) was part of the Parthian Empire from 247BC to 224AD. It was a rival of Rome. Israel was a buffer zone between the two empires. 53BC Battle of Carrhae
  18. This quote says it all: "Registration is like caller-ID for food processors," DeWaal said. "The FDA needs to be able to separate bona fide food manufacturers from fly-by-night operators who would put our food supply at risk." It's not about controlling the quality of food, its registering and controlling the suppliers. The goal is to squeeze out the independent operators so that only the multinational corporations - economic elite - can survive. Same thing as ISO.

  20. I found this little piece interesting. Five steps of persecution. When a government decides to persecute a group of people there five steps they follow. Sometimes they overlap chronologically. 1. The target group has to be identified by certain characteristics of either belief, skin color or what ever. 2. Marginalize the group. When their views and opinions are so discredited that they can not defend themselves in the public arena they can be marginalized to the edge of society. This is a critical part of the plan and has been going on since Scopes' "monkey trial". 3. Vilify the group - poison the public thinking about the group so the general consensus is that something needs to be done about them. 4. Pass laws to prevent to group from functioning. 5. Enforce the laws.

  22. If the wise men had not paid their visit at least two prophesies would have gone unfulfilled and the Word of God would be a failure. Mat 2:17 Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, Mat 2:18 In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not. Mat 2:15 And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son. So for what reason
