  1. Matthew 10 1And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease. 2Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; 3Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus; 4Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him. 5These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: 6But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 7And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. 8Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give. 9Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses, 10Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat. 11And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, enquire who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go thence. 12And when ye come into an house, salute it. 13And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you. 14And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet. 15Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city. 16Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. 17But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues; 18And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles. 19But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak. 20For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you. 21And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death. 22And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved. 23But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come. 24The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord. 25It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household? 26Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known. 27What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops. 28And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. 29Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. 30But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows. 32Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. 33But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven. 34Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. 35For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. 36And a man's foes shall be they of his own household. 37He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. 38And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. 39He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it. 40He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me. 41He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward. 42And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward. The separating of the wheat from the chaff. It's not an easy thing but it must be done. As others have said nothing worth while is ever easy.
  2. I've known for some time that my uncle was an atheist but it has only now become apparent to me that he goes well beyond mere disbelief. I have noticed his posts lately have a more derogatory tone to them as though he were on a crusade against religion and those who believe in a God. I have mixed feelings on this and while I would wish to stand firm against his assaults on religion, I am tempted to un-friend him and be free of his intolerance. Believers are always being accused of intolerance because they choose to speak out against things like homosexuality, etc, but those same accusers seemingly feel free to berate and denigrate those who believe differently than they do. The Bible teaches us to come out and be separate. Should I try to ignore him, interpret his statements as challenges, or wash my hands of him and move on?
  3. I have to agree with Believer1997 however there are any number of reasons that could lead to splintering of congregations. For instance there may be some in those congregations that feel their church is becoming too commercial. Perhaps some prefer to study more than lift up praise in song. Perhaps some prefer to stick to hymns as opposed to more contemporary music which they may consider more secular. Ultimately the best way to find our the why's and when's is to ask members of the congregations. As for the frequency I would have to say this is a common occurrence tho I would say is happens often. Chalk it up to growing pains if you must.
  4. Israel seems to be between a rock and a hard place. I resent the U.S. threatening it's friendship with Israel as a means to coerce them into compliance with world demands. They can't influence Iran into doing what's in the world's best interests but since Israel is so vulnerable and agreeable why don't we just badger them instead? The U.S. must figure since the Muslims aren't going to be very flexible in their demands they will just push on the one who has less going for them. Something's got to give right? It's a bad move on the part of the U.S. and it doesn't bode well for our futures as we shift from being a blessing to Israel to becoming a hindrance instead.
  5. The world and it's U.N. will come to regret siding against Israel and the Jews. They will come to regret their poor and unjust treatment of his people.
  6. North Korea, and Iran, remind me of the school bully's friends. They have the biggest mouths because they expect their big friend to scare off those who might call them out.
  7. This man would deny his own birth if he thought it would cause people to follow him.
  8. It's sad really. What they are displaying is not faith. As others have suggested they are displaying fear of judgment. They seek the company of like minded people to tickle their ears and tell them that they are not bad people for being selfish or proud. They wish to find or create an environment wherein their actions are considered acceptable or even good. Basically they are all seeking assurance from other people that there is no God and that, when they die, they will not be punished for all the things they have done that deep inside them they know were wrong. They are too proud to repent and therefore resist submitting themselves to God's will.
  9. In other words they want an unofficial vote to see where they need to focus their efforts. They really are bent on passing a health care bill. Opponents say they just want to pass "something" but I believe they have left enough control in the current bill to make it worth their effort to push through. As it is they still have a health insurance mandate and in their eyes that would at least be a start. They can work out the rest on simple majorities after the mid-term elections.
  10. This is awesome!
  11. Considering the run up to the current mess, the country had a TEN TRILLION dollar deficit when Obama took office. George Bush ran the biggest deficit budgets in U.S. history. We are paying the piper now and will be for decades. I'm neither Republican nor Democrat so I have no interest in spin; these are facts. We all need to confront facts, and voting records in Congress, before the upcoming mid-term elections. http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2008/09/29/co...ry4486228.shtml Spin? Lets try and stay on topic shall we? For the moment let's leave Bush out of it. My point is if he (Obama) were so concerned about government spending why has he agreed to raise the debt ceiling so they can spend more borrowed money? His forming a panel to look into government spending seem to me just another way for this administration to research the why's and hows so they can generate more believable excuses rather than the usual "It's Bush's Fault".
  12. If he actually believed what he is saying he wouldn't have signed and passed the debt limit increase of 1.9 trilliion.
  13. Just another hand selected panel to whitewash Obama failures.
  14. I'm also curious. Some people might consider me indecisive. I have moments where I take a long time to make a decision but I do eventually make the decision. I just put much more thought into the choice than others. It's been a while but I have taken up to two hours at blockbuster choosing a hand full of movies to watch. Many people just don't have that kind of patience.
  15. Thank you. I'll keep these instructions handy for posting on here. But I want to post something on a different site. How do I do that? The process should be similar depending on the host. Perhaps someone from that forum could answer that question better. Most forums have similar/same functions but not all are equally user friendly.
  16. I guess it's wise to err on the side of caution but that doesn't justify their calling it an epidemic when it was simply another flu season.
  17. I think they're full of it. Of course there were certainly those who were never diagnosed because they didn't need or care to see a doctor. Even so I believe that leaves the CDC room to exaggerate their estimates considerably.
  18. Copy and past the URL from the address bar in your browser. Then, while replying in a WB thread, there are a row of clicky options beginning with "b" for bold and ending with a a little scroll looking icon above the text body window. To the right of the smiley face/emoticon drop down is an icon with a plus sign that says "Insert Link" when you do a "mouse over". After you click the icon a box pops up you enter the URL the click OK. Next you can enter the name or text for the link.
  19. And here I thought all these "freedom fighters" were fighting for a cause greater than simple material needs but it turns out they are nothing more than mercenaries.
  20. Hallelujah! I have been praying that those who were still alive and trapped in the rubble would be found and rescued. I had almost given up hope after two weeks but I continued to pray. A not so subtle reminder that with God anything is possible.
  21. Despite all the back room deals the left wishes to make it look as though it's the republicans who have been stand offish and partisan. This health care "summit" is just another opportunity to pretend to care what the republicans think while getting what they want. They continue to accuse those on the other side of the isle of saying no because they are against reform and don't want to work together but the republicans continue to remind them that it was not they who crafted this bill in secret and still insist on forcing it upon the American people despite what the people want.
  22. I think they do things like this to spite those who actually wanted to become and made the effort to become citizens. they seem to wish to make it appear as though every illegal immigrant has a similarly tragic story when the truth is that most simply walked across the border. Sadly this only shows how broken our immigration system really is. It's no different then our elected officials siphoning funds from social security to cover budget shortfalls. They continue to mis-allocate funds for their pet pork projects and all the while other more necessary programs get the short end of the stock and so too do the taxpaying citizens.
  23. Of course they don't. If there is anyone in the world that profits from wars it's Russia. The Kalashnikov AK-47 is the world best selling gun and Russia does not hide the fact that they will sell them to anyone and everyone who has the money. Russia has only a few major exports. Natural Gas, Caviar and weapons. As long as the Islamic worlds pockets are bulging from oil sales they will continue to purchase weapons from wherever they can get them and Russia is all too happy to oblige considering it's a primary source of income for their nation.
  24. A cross was made from some railroad ties or something and placed at a pagan stone circle. The leader of the pagan group called it a hate crime as he perceived it as an attack on his beliefs. The problem with such accusations is that this pagan leader does not know the heart and mind of the person who did this and so he cannot possibly know the persons motives or intentions. As such the courts threw the case out but that hasn't stopped the pagan leader from making a stink.
