  1. I'd like to believe we'll be raptured out of here before the really tough stuff comes, but if not, we will cling to the Lord and one another and pray to do His will. Maybe we'll all go preaching on street corners finally . . .
  2. Seashell~ I'm so sorry for your loss. I pray that Jesus be especially close to you and that He holds your hand in His. Gentlewind
  3. Blien~ There is much symbolism to be discovered in the Bible. Keep this in mind. Sometimes when you discover that certain words actually mean "other words" then you reach a higher understanding of what is actually being said. It's amazing that the "symbols" remain consistent throughout the Bible, when the Bible was written by different men, often centuries apart. "Dry bones" might be similar to "dry earth" meaning people who do not understand or believe the Word of the Lord. So then, "Dry bones, hear the word of the LORD!" makes sense. The fig tree often represents the symbol of spiritual Israel. Jesus was longing to see fruit on this "tree," but it was "not yet the season." "Mountain" often represents "nation." So "prophesy to the mountains of Israel" may simply mean "prophesy to the nation of Israel." That then becomes a clue that in other places in the Bible where the word "mountain" doesn't seem to make sense, it may actually mean "nation." And as far as preaching "to all creation" there are verses in Romans that tell us that all of creation awaits the "day": And you said: This, in my opinion, is very true. Blessing in Christ~ Gentlewind
  4. Mother Theresa was quoted as saying she saw "Jesus in all people." She worked with sick, dying people in horrible conditions almost her whole life. How did she continue day after day in what had to have been dirty, smelly, and often very depressing work? It was made possible by this philosophy of "seeing Jesus in all people." When Mother Theresa washed the sores, mopped fever-sweated brows, washed dirty bottoms, drained the stench of abscesses, and held the hand of the dying poor, she found her strength in believing that all she did, she was doing for Christ, even doing "to" Christ. These, to her, were the "least" of His brothers, and she served Jesus by serving them. By "seeing Jesus in all people" she was able to continue serving Jesus by serving the poorest of the poor--poor in resources and often poor in spirit, as well. In this regard, consider how much good would be done if all looked upon others as "Jesus" and vowed to serve therefore in utter humility and love. This can follow through all the way to "love your enemy" in a sense. Who are we not commanded to love by our Lord? Hope this helps clarify some of the ideas presented on this thread.
  5. Ummm . . . The bible tells us: 49 Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. What kind of iniquity is "fulness of bread?" (not to get off-topic, just wondering)
  6. Very good! Interesting verse, isn't it?
  7. LOL, yes! There are many pearls. Since you liked that one, how about: Jesus answered and said to him, "Because I said to you that I saw you under the fig tree, do you believe? You will see greater things than these." John 1:50 Jesus was there, present with Nathanael under that fig tree, but Nathanael couldn't "see" him! At this time Jesus was as we are, in a human body, but . . . He was there, under that fig tree, unseen. How could this be? Permie, good friend, you've done your homework! (unscriptural . . . grumble, grumble) The Spirit goes where it will. Yes, and Jesus was bodily in a different city! Edited to add: reminds me of the time where he sent His disciples to get a donkey, where it was tied and what to say to the owner. Yes, the Spirit goes where it will. 'Twas an unbroke colt, too, but that colt apparantly was quite familiar with this Jesus. I've often thought animals "see" things we can't. Hehehe. Permie, you amaze me. Got any more?
  8. Having also come from a nest of unbelievers, I dare say you're arrival is a true miracle! YOU are a miracle! Is it not a miracle that I'm conversing with you from a million miles away? God knows what He's doing. When Jesus said that , "Follow me," thing---He meant it. Seek and you shall find. Ask and it will be given. Jesus loves you, Grumpy, and so do we!

  10. Hey Permie~ I just read that verse you gave in a whole new way! Wow! Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by. John 8:59 Ahh, the pearls hidden in plain sight within scripture. Very cool! He "hid" Himself, and yet He went through the midst of them? Must've left them with their mouths hanging open! Gentlewind
  11. Sometimes people just don't believe, can't bring themselves to believe that someone has seen or experienced something supernatural in Christ. So I just carry on..... But yes I have experienced, seen, miracles Unfortunately, sometimes even believers don't believe. But, yes, by all means . . . carry on!
  12. I was given a dream, whether in the body or out of the body, I don't know. I stood before Christ at the door of a classroom. He was the Teacher and being in His presence was the answer to every prayer. The feeling was indescribable--bliss. He spoke to me without words. I spoke to Him without words. He told me I could not stay. I knew this was true, but I hesitated to leave Him. Without words, my plea before Him was, "Will you be with me?" He turned, then, and with chalk wrote one word on the chalkboard behind Him, underlining it with a flourish: ALWAYS. I hold the gift of this dream close to my heart and trust His word. He is with me. Always. As He is also with all of His children.
  13. Did you ever worry you'd somehow accidently committed this unforgivable sin? Here's a link to an article that will most likely be very comforting: Visit My Website

  18. Hi! I'm new and wondering if we can post pictures here. Do we have to have a certain number of posts to do so? I've noticed I can put pictures on my posts, but they don't show up when I hit "Preview Post" or when I submit the post. Tried to put one in my profile, and it, too, disappeared when I hit "Submit." (Pout, pout . . . I love being colorful. ) Explanations or suggestions welcome. Thanks, ~Gentlewind
  19. I've seen similar strange "lights." We live out in the country. One night we were driving home late and a halo of light engulfed our car as we drove. It was there only a few seconds. My husband and I looked at each other after it was gone, and we both said, "What was that?!" Not long ago, our power was out on an extremely cold night. As I sat wrapped in blankets in my frontroom, I looked out across our dining room and saw a "bar" of what looked kinda like flourescent blue light shoot across the room about mid-way between floor and ceiling. A second one followed. No sense of "evil" with either. I think of them as spiritual manifestations of some kind, but not sure what . . . Interesting.
  20. Ahh, very good point. And David was said to be a man after God's own heart. We all fight our demons, I'm afraid. I forced myself to watch Passion; very graphic and terrible. He went thru so much for me. (us) No greater love . . .
