  1. I identify fully with the first part. I struggle so much with the second part about only needing Jesus by my side.
  2. copied from a post futher back .. I couldn't think of a better way of putting it..... I belong to Jesus and His church, sorry it doesnt have a name. Jesus is the head, the Holy Spirit our teacher.

    Matthew 15:14

Some translations say "Pit" or "hole". I don't think it is meant to represent anything other than what it says. If two people are close to a pit and one of them can see, the sighted one can prevent them both from falling into it. However, if they are both blind they are very likely to fall into the pit because they didn't see it.
  6. I am very happy being Christ's bond-servant; He's the best Master any one could have :-)
  7. It brings to mind something else which is a similar case of "not letting go" of some one. Companies are now making reborn dolls that very closely resemble babies who have died.......................................... "Parents struggling to cope with losing a baby are easing their grief with replica dolls of their lost children. The lifelike models, called Reborn Dolls, have a mechanical beating heart, realistic hair and even veins, says The ...... Newspaper Experts make them look identical to a child that has died, and weights are placed in their limbs and bodies to mimic the way a real baby would feel to hold. However the Child Bereavement Trust, a charity that counsels grieving families, has warned against parents replacing lost babies with models. It told The ......Newspaper "It's more helpful for them to face the reality of what is happening and express their painful feelings without relying on such a doll."
  8. Thank you for posting this question. Although I can't give a clear cut answer the post gave me food for thought. For many years now I know that I have been taking God's grace for granted. I have almost come to a point where I have stopped growing spiritually, not because I think I don't need to grow any more (no one will ever reach that state) but because I have become blas

  10. Hadn't heard of the emergent church so just looked it up .........................oh boy!
  11. I watched this on the TV news this evening and was deeply saddened by it. I looked up some newspaper articles about it online in order to read the comments. One chap wrote, "Can I now walk into a vegetarian hotel and demand that they serve meat?" He has a point!
  12. Hi. I lost a little boy when he was 12 weeks old. Like you I wonder why God sometimes allows us to have children only to take them away so soon. I have to accept that God knows best ..............................not always an easy thing to do. I will pray for you and your family.
  13. I didn't have an answer to offer either so I had a look at what some websites said about building alters. There were many different ideas about this subject. I found one which seemed the best idea about being an alter, I will quote from it below. Hope it helps. ................................................................................................... After Gideon talked to the Lord face to face, he built an altar to Him. Look at Romans 12:1. It tells us to do the same thing with our own bodies. After we meet face to face with the Lord, we will want to build an altar to the Lord and offer ourselves as a sacrifice to Him. But it is obvious that there are many Christians who are not dead to self. Maybe it is because they are not meeting with the Lord like they should. They forfeit spiritual success. There is a positive and a negative side to righteousness. Gideon not only build an altar to the Lord, but he also tore down the altar to Baal. Many Christians say that they have offered themselves as a sacrifice to the Lord, but it is obvious that they are not dead to self because there is too much of Baal still left in their life. We need more Christians who take the time to find out exactly what God wants them to do. Some don't want to know. It may involve study or work or moving or a change of plans. But we will never be spiritually successful until we find God's will for our life. We may not be sure of what God wants, but if we want to find His will -- to the point of talking to Him, and building an altar to Him and tearing down the altar of Baal -- He will show us His will. Romans 12:2b says, "But be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."

    confused

Thank you for posting this. I struggle with the same issue. One verse that confuses me is "Work out your salvation in fear and trembling", maybe I'm not reading it as it is meant to be read.
  15. Hello again. I'm sending this message just to try sort out a couple of things because I really do think that we are talking at cross-purposes. My first comment re your post was that I couldn't understand it. You have a way of writing that just isn't plain english. I am fairly intelligent and can understand most things but I hadn't a clue as to what you were actually saying in your post. Are you simply saying that most Christians do not have the respect for God that they should have? With that I would agree and I would include myself. You hardly know me so to refer to me as being a "Holier than thou" person was quite unfair. I am in fact quite the opposite. I often say that if Paul considers himself to the the chief of sinners, I come a close second! I am nowhere near to being where I should be with my walk with God. I am quite aware and very ashamed of that fact. I have studied both the Old and the New Testement with an international study group called "Community Bible Study" which was in fact started in America. Their studies are in-depth. I am not just a person who has had a casual glance at their bible and thinks they know all there is to know. I shall NEVER know all there is to know. I don't want to be on a bad-footing with any one, I simply want to be able to express my honest views.
  16. "The reasons for this dismay are advanced and well ahead of the US but my people are rushing to fall to the level found in Great Briton" I haven't a clue what that means apart from the obvious slight on Great BRITAIN. You make sweeping statements about Christians......................... "Today, this is a problem of such magnitude that those calling the name of Christ feel that He should appreciate the sacrifice they offer Him by getting out of bed on Sunday morning, He doesn't appreciate that attitude at all" "God today, in the minds of men, is the granter of favors, just like the Candy-man in a child's dream" The above certainly doesn't apply to me and it doesn't apply to a great many people who I know. I would like to hope that God doesn't rant me; tomorrow or any other day.
  17. I always considered myself to be of reasonable intellligence but I haven't a clue what the post is really about. I agree that one should always write God with an upper case G. That was the only bit I understood. Could anyone explain it in simple language ?
  18. I am not in the least bit envious ...................... I have always been this shade of green LOL
  19. Hi. There is a brilliant article about giving an account before God at the Judgement seat. It can be found here http://www.born-again-christian.info/t.l.osborn.peace.with.god.htm I hope it helps with your question.

By Philip Johnston, Home Affairs Editor 12:01AM GMT 31 Dec 2005 The biggest shake-up in adoption law for 30 years took effect yesterday, allowing unmarried and same-sex -couples to assume joint responsibility for an adopted child for the first time. Yet ................... August 8th, 2010 A Christian couple from Blackburn, Lancashire, have had their application to be foster parents terminated by the Council because of their orthodox Christian beliefs on marriage and their belief that the best environment in which to raise a child is with a mother and a father. 21. There was a similar incident in England on March 10th last year. Over 100 starlings fell from the sky into one back garden. Most were dead or dying. There was no obvious cause. I read that it has happened in other countries too .................... definately weird!!
  22. Hi. I'm still on the case :-) I have a better idea now of the kind of scriptures you need to know in order to get a true picture of how God really sees you. I still haven't found a site that gives exactly what I am looking for but I do hope the following helps................................... You Are Precious To God, He Delights In You. The Holy Spirit gave David a revelation that is the key to all deliverance. The key to your victory is in this verse. God delights in you. You are precious to him! In Psalms 18, David was rejoicing because the Lord had rescued him from his enemies He sent from above, he took me, he drew me from my strong enemy, and from them which hated me: for they were too strong for me. They prevented me in the day of my calamity; but the Lord was my stay. He brought me forth also into a large place; he delivered me, because he delighted in me." ps.18:16-17 Even tho the enemy had come in like a flood, David was able to say, "God came roaring forth to pull me out of the swirling waters. He rescued me from all my troubles!" He was able to say, "The reason God delivered me from all my enemies-from all my sorrows and the powers of hell-is because I am precious to him. My God delights in me!" "He brought me forth also into a large place; he delivered me, because he delighted in me." Do you need deliverance, from lust, a temptation, or trial? Or from a problem that is mental, spiritual, emotional or physical, The key to your victory is in this verse. God delights in you. You are precious to him! In Song of Solomon, the Lord says of his bride, "How fair and how pleasant art thou, O Love, for delights!" Three of the Hebrew words in this verse are synonymous: fair, meaning, ;
  23. Hi. I had a look to see what I could find on this. Like you I didn't find it easy to find what I thought I was looking for. Then I found a list of verses which tell about how God sees us and wondered whether they were the kind of thing you need? I hope it's of some help. 1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light Ephesians 1:4-5 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— Ephesians 2:10 For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Colossians 2:13-14 When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross. John 1:12-13 Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God. Galatians 4:6-7 Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, "Abba, Father." So you are no longer a slave, but a son; and since you are a son, God has made you also an heir. John 15:15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. Romans 5:1-2 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Colossians 3:12 Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Galatians 3:26-27 You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. Psalm 138:8 The LORD will fulfill his purpose for me; your love, O LORD, endures forever—do not abandon the works of your hands. Romans 8:14-15 because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father." Colossians 3:3-4 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. Ephesians 2:19 Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God's people and members of God's household, 1 Thessalonians 5:5 You are all sons of the light and sons of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. Matthew 5:13 "You are the salt of the earth. 2 Corinthians 1:21-22 Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. 1 John 3:1 How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Matthew 5:14 "You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden 1 Corinthians 3:16 Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives in you? Romans 6:18 You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness. 2 Corinthians 5:17-21 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. 1 Peter 2:5 you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. Ephesians 2:6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, In order to get a better understanding of our identity in Christ read through the book of Colossians and Psalm 139.

    Why pray?

Thank you to all who have taken time to reply to my question about prayer. I have read the replies carefully and I now see that the subject of prayer has many facets and I was simply looking at only ONE of them. I think that one of the thngs that I now understand is that if we spend time in discovering what the will of God is on a certain subject, we can know what to pray in order that God's will should be done in that situation. That way, when I pray I don't need to worry about things "Not being God's will" because they "WILL be God's will"! I will get there, slowly (very slowly) but surely !!!
