  1. Your question as a whole, is the reason we are to spend time each day reading God's written word. See, God speaks to us primarily through his written word and through the Holy Spirit who resides in us. It is very important that we spend some time in daily prayer and reading God's written word. Then as we come across different circumstances in our lives. The Holy Spirit will bring to mind what you have read in his word and thus, help you to distinguish whether you should or should not do something. If there is doubt or question mark in your mind about what content you want to watch on youtube. It is better to not watch that particular youtube clip. Because then for you, it is sinful if you do watch it.
  2. Some of those supposed "guests" can be spam bots, and not actual people. Which is why you were required to create multiple posts in the welcome forum before being allowed to post elsewhere on the forums when you first joined worthy. And that is to weed out spam bots and prevent them from spamming the site. There are different types of bots that scan web sites for multiple of reason's. Search engines use bots as well to scan message boards to supposedly improve word searches. Also realize "guest" does not always indicate someone is new or seeking answers. Members who are not logged in will show up as guests in the list of whose online. Members are not required to log in to view threads. Except in sections which are password protected. Replying to old threads is NOT against the rules, but most people become annoyed with old threads resurfacing because the original poster has not been active since the thread was originally posted. And is considered "old news" and besides that, there a a plethora of newer threads on the same topics with fresh eyes and opinions and they are able to ask the original poster questions or ask for clarification, etc..... That can not be done with old threads Don't be surprised if people remind you that the thread you replied to is old and the original poster has not been back to read your reply.
  3. Neither verses in the bible or the topic of hell should cause a Christian to shudder. Galatians 5:5 But by faith we eagerly await through the Spirit the hope of righteousness. A Christian is not like an unbeliever who has no hope. We are justified by faith in Christ, our hope is in Him. A Christian has no need to be fearful, for scriptures assure us that we have eternal life through trust and faith in Jesus. Romans 8:31 What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? John 1:12 But to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God Since he calls us his children, we should not be cringing as those are lost.
  4. As I said previously in another sabbath thread, that the discussion of sabbath keeping does NOT go anywhere. This is NOT the first time the topic of sabbath keeping has been mentioned. The topic in and of itself is a tired discussion. For neither side ever wins. It is beating a dead horse. Those who wish to observe the day are free to do so, and those who wish to set aside a different day as a special day are also free to do so. The saying “beating or flogging a dead horse” comes from a literal application of literally beating a dead horse in the hopes it will get up and pull a wagon or run. It is a hopeless situation, that can NOT be won, for the horse is dead. Anybody that has handled real and live horses, also know that attempting to beat a live horse into a horse trailer is a losing battle. Doing so does NOT benefit either the horse or the handler. As for the sabbath topic, It is fighting a losing battle for either side. Nothing is gained. The continued discussion, in and of itself doesn't sound very edifying for either side of the debate. **post has been edited, removed a couple of sentences in the last paragraph, that do not appear to be edifying in and of themselves.
  5. There is a plethora of threads started by authors demanding others obey the sabbath, but no threads that are started demanding people to not observe. Anyone who is NOT a sabbatarian is well familiar with the following verses and so, understand that there is freedom to either observe or not observe the day. Each person is free to observe or not observe. And the reason no threads are ever started imploring people to disregard the sabbath. There just isn't. Those who wish to observe the day and are free to do so. No one here on worthy will stop you. Our salvation starts and ends with faith in the atoning sacrifice Christ made for us on the cross. Ephesians 2:8-9 “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God — not by works, so that no one can boast.” Romans 14:5 - 7 One person regards a certain day above the others, while someone else considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. He who observes a special day does so to the Lord; he who eats does so to the Lord, for he gives thanks to God; and he who abstains does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God. For none of us lives to himself alone, and none of us dies to himself alone.… Colossians 2:16 Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day
  6. The above quote is not true. And neither will everyone fall for this line. I want no part of this Sabbatarian stuff. Because it shifts our faith from Jesus' work on the cross to legalistic observance of Torah and is for the birds, so to speak. My faith is in Jesus/ Yeshua or whatever your favorite spelling is, and it is through Him alone that I have received God's favor and grace. NOT through legalistic observances of the Old Testament. Any teaching becomes legalistic and displays itself as pride, and self-righteousness when we as individuals require and/ or demand others emulate as we do. Legalism concentrates on, and demands external conformity. And secretly judges others who do not do as it does. Legalism is not content to live as it sees fit, and leave others alone. It desires to bring everyone under its system of bondage. The Apostle Paul taught that legalism is to be avoided. We are saved by God's grace and not by a system of Bondage. We are saved by grace alone, so no man may boast in his righteousness. There is a problem with people demanding others do as they do, or do as they tell them to as if they were those other people's mommies and daddies. “Do as I tell you” is legalism. And Paul spoke against legalism. A person may follow the sabbath law meticulously and feel all is well between them and God and yet, be very complacent about other sins that lurk in the heart. If any individual is counting on the Old Testament observances to curry God's favor and receive righteousness, then, Jesus is of no use to that individual, for his/her faith is NOT in Jesus but in the law of Moses. Galatians 3:2-3 (CJB) I want to know from you just this one thing: did you receive the Spirit by legalistic observance of Torah commands or by trusting in what you heard and being faithful to it? Are you that stupid? Having begun with the Spirit’s power, do you think you can reach the goal under your own power? Galatians 3:5 (CJB) What about God, who supplies you with the Spirit and works miracles among you — does he do it because of your legalistic observance of Torah commands or because you trust in what you heard and are faithful to it? Galatians 3:10-12 (CJB) For everyone who depends on legalistic observance of Torah commands lives under a curse, since it is written, “Cursed is everyone who does not keep on doing everything written in the Scroll of the Torah.” Now it is evident that no one comes to be declared righteous by God through legalism, since “The person who is righteous will attain life by trusting and being faithful.” Furthermore, legalism is not based on trusting and being faithful, but on [a misuse of] the text
  7. As I said previously, that the discussion of sabbath keeping does NOT go anywhere. In closing, I will leave the following question for everyone reading to ponder on. Read the following and prayerfully give this some thought. Read the entire chapter of Galatians 4 Now for the question In light of Galatians 4, what was nailed to the cross as paid by Christ’s blood?
  8. @Michael37 I'm not saying that we should excuse sin, or make excuses for it, or even tolerate those who revel in their sins. But that even though we may not feel that the person who posted, is sincere in their quest, still it is best to offer advice, prayer and encourage the individual to keep on with a desire to change. Perhaps our words may persuade a person who at first does not want to change to that of wanting to change. But also if someone else has a similar question they too may be helped by our advice and encouragement to hang in there, and keep trying to do better and better each day. I am reminded of James 5: 19-20 My brothers, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring him back, remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save them from death and cover over a multitude of sins. @Unforgiven There are times when God has us work through a problem instead of the instant snap of a divine finger so that his work in you will take deeper roots. His written word says and promises that he will always be with us. He will never leave you, nor forsake you. Ask Jesus to help you give up your addiction. Place your trust and hope in him and know for certain that he will indeed help you. Don't give up, but persevere. Don't set your goals or expectations of yourself too high at a time, because when we, humans, do that and then don't reach the expected goal for the day or week, we become frustrated with ourselves and then fail far from what was intended if we try to push it too hard or too soon. God is pleased to work with you at a steady pace, even if it is a slow pace. His work in you will take deeper roots and you will gradually find that you have less and less desire for your addiction. God is NOT done with you. You will get there. Be patient with yourself.
  9. That is so not like you to say that. I get that your upset with leaders within a local church, And yes, I get that church leaders are held to a higher standard and should know better But they too are human and are NOT immune to temptation and sin. Pastors are actually more vulnerable to succumbing to temptation when the church body as a whole puts too much pressure and burden on one person. Congregations expect pastor's to pray and comfort, and carry them through a rough patch. God never intended for the church members to put them up on a pedestal. Only Jesus is able to fully bear our daily burdens with us and for us. How many people think to pray for their pastor's or help their pastors or the needs of his family ? Your so upset with this local church leaders. And the news hit you like a ton of bricks, and you missed part of what the opster had said. Someone that is proud of their sin and doesn't want to change does not seek help or advice. They simply would not care. This person cares and is seeking help or he would not have asked for advice verbatim.
  10. I was NOT explaining the meaning of the Matthew 7:22-23 passage. But the direction of the ongoing discussion taking place between the opster and another member that is possibly going into the direction of being about obeying the sabbath by the opster. Sabbatarians argue that those who attend church on Sunday instead of Saturday are practicing unrepentant sinning. There is the subtle hint of this from statements made in early in the discussion. And is what I responded to.
  11. Usually when an individual brings up “unrepentant sin” and disobeying Jesus' commands” it is most often ends up referring to sabbath keeping. Any “sabbath keeping” discussion becomes lengthy and always ends in a “stalemate” with threads either locked or deleted. There are no winners in the debate. If anyone wishes to observe the sabbath day. That is up to him or her, no one will stop them. They are certainly free to do so. By the same token those who wish to set another day aside, and regard it as a special day, they are free to do so also. Each person is free to decide. We are NOT called to be morality cops, but to share the gospel message with the lost. Do as the Lord leads "YOU, YOURSELF",(collective you, no one here specifically) and let God do the leading of others. Colossians 2:8 See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ. Colossians 2:20 Since you died with Christ to the elemental spiritual forces of this world, why, as though you still belonged to the world, do you submit to its rules: Colossians 2:23 Such regulations indeed have an appearance of wisdom, with their self-imposed worship, their false humility and their harsh treatment of the body, but they lack any value in restraining sensual indulgence.
  12. its ok. Don't sweat it.
  13. @SIC You lost me on what was funny about my reply above. I said the above because you quoted another post, authored by me. So I took it to mean that you felt singled out and needed to defend the reason for your initial question. So in the above quote I attempted to clarify my response. The quote below, was from Didymos to another member who posted in this thread. I was hoping to respond to the statement itself without calling direct attention to the author. In other words, I wanted my post to be about the topic itself and not the author. About the statement below. Since we are not present in a person's home to witness whether he/she did or didn't, the statement itself is an unfair assumption and assessment of someone.
  14. Fellowshipping with other Christians is more than just attending a church service, for when we gather together and share each others burdens, we strengthen not only our own faith in God and his written word, but also strengthen others faith in God too. Participation not only gives us the opportunity to strengthen each other but also to demonstrate our love for God and one another. We fulfill the law of Christ when we pray for one another, love one another, help one another when there is a physical or financial need, when we support others who are going through tears or rejoice with those who are rejoicing in triumph. We miss out on these things when we attempt to be lone rangers. God never intended us to live in this world as lone rangers. We are called to have a “shared life”with others with Christ as the common goal.
  15. My post was not directed at you or speaking of you specifically. I responded to something else said in the thread.
  16. I do NOT have to view the show to know what it is about or know how bad the content is. My local news also did a blurb about the show's content. And then warned people about the high volume of violence, etc... at the tale end of their blurb said that viewer and parental discretion was strongly advised. Just like movies, t.v shows also have ratings people can check. My local cable t.v guide “listing” shows a content rating next to the name of every program. It says what genre, what the show is about and whether a show has violence, nudity or strong language. And how much. And I can make a decision from there on whether to watch a specific show or not. The listing is quite helpful in this regard.
  17. There are differences of thought, belief and opinions by people of whom are seeking to honor God according to their consciences and their understanding of God's Word. The beliefs listed below are agreed upon by any serious protestant / evangelist that the gospel message is at the core of Christianity. And that they are essential to the Christian faith. Any person or denomination who removes or changes one or more of the core belief's will soon find their religion is null and void and they are practicing an empty faith. Any denomination that claims to be Christian but deny one or more of the essentials of the Christian faith is to be avoided. We must be of one mind on the essentials of the faith, but beyond that there is great deal of latitude, and this diversity allows us to be individuals in Christ. Jesus is the Son of God and is equal with God Jesus lived a perfect, sinless life Jesus was crucified to pay the penalty for our sins Jesus rose from the dead We are saved by the grace of God; that is, we cannot add to or take away from Christ’s finished work on the cross as full payment for our sin God's written word is infallible Jesus is fully God, and fully man at the same time There must be a spiritual transformation There is only one God who eternally exists as three distinct Persons — the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Are co-equal and co-eternal, one in essence, nature, power, action, and will.
  18. Another way to phrase the question. Should the actions, thoughts, words and deeds in this show be considered acceptable behavior for Christians to watch. Have I watched the show? Nope. I did catch a short blurb about the story line …. on the news one night. There was enough information shown, and talked about that told me it was way, way too violent. As a christian, I found the images I did see, very disturbing. Perhaps because as a christian, we see this from a spiritual perspective and / or from God's perspective, not as the world sees it. One person's response reminds me of how atheists look for excuses to deny God's demand for his creation to follow Godly morals and ethics. They are quick to say “but there is violence, rape, and murder in the bible”. Well, that is true, there is.... but scripture never condones such behavior. Scripture always shows that there were consequences that followed such actions. It NEVER paints those actions in a good light.

  20. Hmm..... I take it that the opster isn't asking because he doesn't know the answer, but is posting a sermon so to speak. I usually bypass his posts and don't bother reading them because they give me the impression that he really isn't interested in dialoging about the topics he posts. Perhaps others feel the same way I do, since very few respond to his threads
  21. May I ask for some clarification? Is this just an event that you recall and just felt like sharing? Or are you thinking of something much deeper in thought about the faith of little children mentioned in scripture? Little children believe and trust their parents, when parents tell them things because they know that without question a loving mommy and daddy will keep them safe. They never have to wonder. That is what it means to have child like faith. Adults have the tendency to question everything others tell then and only believe what already agrees with their own way of thinking and philosophies. Little children however, don't question things in the way adults do. They simply trust an adult at their word. In the same way, like that of children, we know that we can fully believe and trust God. He will never lie to us. And we are assured in scripture that he will never leave us, nor forsake us. This is the kind of faith God desires from us. Because he will always do what is best for us. In regard to the insulation, I can agree with you, that God intervened on your behalf. And you did well in heeding the warning.
  22. No where in my post did I say, that sin is the only thing passed and nothing else. I'm fully aware that Adam passed on more than just sin. I did not think I needed to go into every little nitty gritty, teeny-weeny , minute detail and write a thesis or long never ending book on the subject, nor did I think it was necessary to torture everyone with a wall of scripture in order to give input. I simply wanted to summarize a point. Is the word trinity in the bible? Of coarse not. But the concept and teaching is. One God who eternally exists as three distinct Persons — the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. And it comes from a collection of scriptures as a whole from the bible correct? Both from the OT and the NT. Just the same, with regard to Adam being the representative of the human race. Nobody disputes that husbands have the role of leadership over their families. This is clearly demonstrated in scripture. Adam is clearly presented as both progenitor and representative of all mankind in the NT. God set the bar in Genesis. Scripture makes it clear that sin and death entered the world through Adam, and thus he is to blame for original sin even though Eve also sinned. 1 Corinthians 15:21-22 For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive Romans 5:12 Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned— Romans 5:15-19 But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, abound to the many! 16Again, the gift is not like the result of the one man’s sin: The judgment that followed one sin brought condemnation, but the gift that followed many trespasses brought justification. 17For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive an abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ! 18So then, just as one trespass brought condemnation for all men, so also one act of righteousness brought justification and life for all men. 19For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous. Notice in the above scriptures that it does NOT say sin entered through one man and one woman. Even though Eve sinned before Adam. It is demonstrated in Genesis that Adam had the role of leadership not Eve. God did not question Eve first, but Adam. Paul is not homing in on individual sins, but states over and over again that it is because of one sin that death and condemnation belong to us all. In other words, we are connected to Adam such that his one sin is regarded as our sin and we are worthy of condemnation for it. We are made sinners by the sin of Adam. Due to his disobedience, we are regarded as sinners. Since "made sinners" is paralleled with "made righteous," it must also be referring to imputation. Thus, Paul is saying that we are all made sinners in the sense that we are imputed with Adam's sin. As for sin being a physical object, The bible itself, through collective scripture, not a stand alone verse describes sin as any action, deed, word or thought that is contrary to God's will and character. The word “deed”, by definition is an action that is performed intentionally or consciously. A deed is not a person, it is an action. Even though the word “deed” is a noun, it describes a “physical action” and “physical action”which in itself becomes a descriptive noun so to speak. Inanimate objects such as a desk or chair, are physical and tangible things and called nouns too, but neither have a heart and mind that can disobey God. The bible teaches that sin originates in the heart and mind and flows outward through actions and deeds. A person in this sense is said to be a sinner, because his deeds and actions are sinful. Because sinful actions are against God's will and character.
  23. I am NOT a forum moderator, I can only moderate the chatroom. Not the forums. That is why I keep telling everyone to make use of the "report post" button if there is a problem post. Forum moderators, can not be here 24/7. Like the chatroom moderators, they too, are volunteers and have jobs and families to tend to as well as volunteer their time here. They will get a notice of a reported post as soon as they log in. And because they have jobs and families to tend to as well, they may not be able to address concerns right away. Please be patient, as soon as they have time, they will take care of issues and concerns. What I am seeing in general overall, is the unwillingness to report a problem and the willingness to continue to dialog with someone that enjoys taunting and antagonizing others. Debates have their place, and to a point can be healthy, but they are no longer debates or edifying discussions when one or more parties in the discussion moves outside of what is considered proper and respectful etiquette. Violating the TOS is not the only reason threads get locked, moved, or hidden. Sometimes good threads are temporarily hidden, till a moderator has time to read each and every post in the thread and remove offending posts and deal with other issues in regard to the thread. This is time consuming. And this is not a reflection on the thread starter, sometimes there is so much unedifying posts overall in the thread, or that the topic all too often quickly becomes heated, that mods or site owner, opt to not reopen a thread. Forum moderators are Alive, Omegaman, and George.
