  1. No, I am not paralyzed by that fact. If you read my previous post you will see I did offer correction or reproof. What is the summation of the law?
  2. I agree we are not to sin. Careful not to judge others as sinning while we think we are somehow above sinning ourselves. I think when we give account before God we will be amazed at sinfulness of our own hearts that we couldn't even see. One day there will be no tears or self righteous judging.
  3. Ok. I thank God for His mercy and grace. Two important parts of Gods nature. By myself, I can never be righteous. If one is under a rock and is reading this, do not take our words for advice. Take your heart and place it wholly at the foot of the cross, to Jesus.
  4. I do not wish to quarrel, I will leave it at that. May God bless you
  5. Hold on now. Those books have indeed been tested against scripture and rejected. They conflict with scripture, proof has been given, and yet you are offended someone offers to point you to trusting in the word of God alone?
  6. Again, you sound like you don't understand what people experience in an abusive marriage. The options you list, simply are not options for someone who has been abused. Reconciliation takes two. I stand by my statement, God does hate divorce, but is merciful.
  7. Sticking to scripture isn't meant to come across as being "more enlightened". Its an important point. Sticking to scripture isn't creating drama. Its Important to watch what influences us.
  8. I can't help but feel you have no idea what some people endure. Of course we recognize God hates divorce. Yet, even God is merciful and has put in His word that He allows it due to hardness of heart. This is not speaking of the victims hardness of heart, but the abuser. Point is, some people do seek a divorce on nothing more than a whim. But, there are people who endure that which you have no idea, waiting for death because they believe God is not merciful and will not allow them out of an abusive marriage. Your post shows you have no regard for what is in a victims heart, by posting "I know it's your will that I get divorced for whatever reason I want" you are ridiculing someone who is in a place you have never seen. God IS merciful. Do not place your foot on someones throat and claim you are defending God's word. That is not love.
  9. I read the long post you quoted as an encouragement to trust in God's Word, and a warning not to stand on anything outside of God's word. This was not an attack on another, but a loving reminder and someone pointing to Christ, do not open yourself up to be deceived by an evil spirit. Do you take offense to someone pointing to Christ alone? What do you mean this is not a place to question someone's belief system? If you believe on something other than God's Word and post it, I would expect someone here at Worthy to make every available opportunity to point you to Christ. That is love, I love you enough to want you to know the truth. The truth is in God's Word, not these other books that have been tested and rejected.
  10. Sounds good, but I have not seen where you have shown an example that supports your case. The suns rays must not travel very far if it spirals and can't shine on the entire flat disc at the same time. Yes, I did already search Google for it, and tried to put myself in the position of what if I never heard it was a globe, and none of it fits together. So, I am asking for only one example that supports your case, not two or three.
  11. Well I am not aware of people making those claims, and I thought I stated neither you are I are actually at 100,000 feet to verify any claims. You provided pictures, which really do not provide the same perspective of actually being there. At any rate, thank you for causing me to think more about what I think I know is actually only what I've been taught, without proof. I don't have proof either way, and I've actually tried to follow your reasons, but they, too, fail because you have no proof. So I have googled this subject and found some possible answers, but I am curious why, on a flat earth, does the sun rise and set at different times for different continents?
  12. I am not mocking you, and I was hoping you knew google earth was just a joke, offered as "proof" same as your proof offered of being 100,000 feet up, it does not stand up to scrutiny. Now, the atmosphere is not totally clean, there is moisture, dust, etc, and at 100,000 feet there is still some atmosphere, so looking at the horizon, as Retrobyter calculates, we are trying to see through approx 400 miles of dirty atmosphere. Very difficult on the clearest of days. Now, there are pictures of earth from outer space, I'm sure you will say they are not real, but if they are, they are not looking down on earth through 400 miles of atmosphere. The atmosphere is considered to be some 300 miles deep, yet most of it is within the bottom 10 miles, of which our weather patterns are contained in the bottom 7 miles. So for most of the earth, the picture is trying to see the surface through 7-10 miles of atmosphere, even then it may be cloudy and no land will be visible. But if you look at the horizon of earth, from these pictures taken from outer space, you are trying to see through hundreds of miles of atmosphere. The ship example is the easiest though. The ship does not just get smaller as it sails out to sea, it also drops down. I suppose it could be some sort of illusion?
  13. It was explained very clearly that 100,000 feet up is almost nothing in relation to the size of earth,
  14. Exactly, even at 20 miles up, the camera is capturing a very small part of the horizon, one needs to understand the scale of the earth, and even then you would have to be up there in person, not looking through a camera. At 20 miles, the horizon is going to be all around you, one has to get farther away from the earth before the horizon drops to a point below you enough to see the curve, but that this effect would be the same when examining a sphere below you, or a flat earth below you. So this whole experiment, which I believe none of us are doing in real life, fails. Flat earth or globe, the horizon appears the same until you get far enough away to leave the atmosphere and gain the proper perspective.
  15. Or even at 100,000 feet, that is less than 20 miles high, trying to examine a ball with a diameter of 8000 miles, through atmosphere is impossible. Your fish eye lens photos provide no proof, fish eye lens cameras are intentional, not to deceive you, but to capture things close up, again it is intentional, the subject matter chosen was not the horizon. A normal lens is not going to capture enough of the horizon at 20 miles up to show anything. Its all about perspective, lens angle, and understanding the limits and qualities of using different camera lens. I say you have proven nothing, yet it is very interesting to examine things most of us believe without any personal proof. Pull up Google Earth, you can zoom out and rotate the earth, I prove my point!
  16. Great. Now I gotta find a seamless one piece tunic!!
  17. I wonder how John the Baptist felt when he met Jesus? Would you recommend that one of the pharisees should have given John one of their fancy robes? I grew up attending a Baptist church. Suits, ties, etc. Give your best for the Lord. Yup. Dad didn't have a suit. I've never owned a suit. I've felt remorse for a lot of things, but wearing blue jeans to church never has been one of them. I could go buy a new suit tomorrow if I though Jesus wanted me too. Do you think I'm wrong and He really does care about my clothes more than my heart? I wonder how many people would avoid John the Baptist if he were alive today.
  18. 1 john 1:9. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
  19. I am having difficulty in telling if and when you are being sarcastic. As sarcasm is basically a lie, I generally try to take people at what their words actually say. I've been one who easily missed sarcasm, so if I'm wrong here I apologize. I agree, it does seem many seek a divorce for no other grounds then "I deserve to be happy" syndrome. But, we must be careful in judging. The partner of "I deserve to be happy" may not be abusive, or unfaithful, and gets judged for being divorced of no fault of their own, they are a victim. As for your last sentence, here is from Gill's exposition of the entire bible: with what were commonly said among men, or in the law, and as the sense of that; that if a man divorced his wife upon any occasion, and she go from him; departs from his house, and is separated from bed and board with him: and become another man's, be married to another, as she might according to the law: shall he return unto her again? take her to be his wife again; her latter husband not liking her, or being dead? no, he will not; he might not according to the law in Deuteronomy 24:4and if there was no law respecting this, it can hardly be thought that he would, it being so contrary to nature, and to the order of civil society: shall not that land be greatly polluted? either Judea, or any other, where such usages should obtain; for this, according to the law, was causing the land to sin, filling it with it, and making it liable to punishment for it; this being an abomination before the Lord. The Septuagint, Vulgate Latin, and Arabic versions, render it, "shall not that woman be defiled?" she is so by the latter husband; and that is a reason why she is not to be received by the former again, Deuteronomy 24:4, but thou hast played the harlot with many lovers; or served many idols; the number of their gods having been according to the number of their cities, Jeremiah 2:28, yet return again to me, saith the Lord; by repentance, and doing their first works, worshipping and serving him as formerly; so the Targum, "return now from this time to my worship, saith the Lord.'' The Vulgate Latin version adds, "and I will receive thee"; this is an instance of great grace in the Lord, and which is not to be found among men. It reads very much to me as God views this very much in marriage terms, in which God seeks reconciliation, such as you stated, but even then it is with conditions on the party that was unfaithful, as the scripture William provided above shows. Again, I agree a marriage is a covenant, not meant to be broken, yet Israel broke that covenant, and was unfaithful, would anyone propose to blame God? Just as in when a marriage ends in divorce, be careful not to blame the party who was wronged. Being walked out on by your spouse is not, quote "People will do what they want to do and they will justify it by claiming God gave them a peace about it." Then there is also the abusive marriages, physical, emotional, psychological, abuse, where if the abused is reading posts like yours, they already believe divorce is so wrong they must endure it. God does hate divorce, yet I don't think God is indifferent to being abused. Is there grace? Does God give peace? I wonder if while we are so busy bringing up God's righteousness we forget God brings peace to those who reconcile themselves to Him.
  20. Flights often do not travel in straight lines to final destinations if they route for maximum passenger number efficiency. You conveniently changed my example from south america to australia, to south Africa to New Zealand. Quantas airlines flies from Sydney to Santiago in estimated 14 hours 15 minutes, far less than possible if using flat earth map.
  21. You are creating all kinds of questions for me here, I am sure its been covered many times before, but if there is no outer space, what do we see through telescopes? Where does the sun go when night comes? Why doesn't the sunrise occurs at exactly the same time every morning for the entire earth? Why can I see satellites "hovering" in the sky if they are not there?
  22. Wouldn't this view make a flight from South America to Australia almost impossible, given planes can only hold so much fuel, passengers would surely know if they passed over ocean, or took a "short cut" by flying over the north pole, flight times reported of 12 to 13 hours would be impossible, every pilot flying international flights would have to understand this proposed flat earth?
