  1. Keep in mind the amount of abuse in this world. Spousal, child, and substance abuse. Abuse of power, influence, wealth, etc., are all contributing to the destruction of man. I know and understand the bigger events you guys mention but dont think of these struggles in this world that have been present with us in every era as being little matters. Children are falling into abusive cycles that are a repetition of the same over all scheme of a downward spiral. Abuse is what is happening to love.
  2. Exodus 3:14 "And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you." John 18:3 "Judas then, having received a band of men and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, cometh thither with lanterns and torches and weapons.4 Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek ye? 5 They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I am he. And Judas also, which betrayed him, stood with them. 6 As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground. 7 Then asked he them again, Whom seek ye? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth. 8 Jesus answered, I have told you that I am he: if therefore ye seek me, let these go their way: 9 That the saying might be fulfilled, which he spake, Of them which thou gavest me have I lost none." I know they dont capitalize I AM in John 18:4 but seeing these officers of the chief priests and Pharisees fall to the ground leaves no doubt they understood He meant I AM as in Exodus 3:14 and the he being italicized lets us know it was added to the text. Another example of the text not being capitalized but the reaction, though adverse, confirms that they understood I am to mean I AM: John 8:56 "Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad. 57 Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? 58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. 59 Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by." Another reason why I find this important: John 12:27 "Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour. 28 Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again." Father glorify thy name not my name. And again: John 12:44 "Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me. 45 And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me. 46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness." I AM is who sent Him and I AM is the name being glorified. Im no student of linguistics but I know that I AM comes from HAYAH and that YAH is also part of many hebrew names including Jesus. From what I gather the consensus is Jesus means YAH saves or YAH is Salvation and that makes perfect sense because Jesus is the only name we can be saved by. We can only be saved by YAH who is Salvation. Im using a worldly concept but think of the commandments as intellectual property and the name of HAYAH is the brand or logo. I came to think of this because of these verses: This made me think of trademarks with the sign upon the hand and frontlet of the eyes: Deuteronomy 11:18 "Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes." This made me think of the law, I AM, being nailed to the cross (combined with Jesus saying, "I have told you that I AM if therefore ye seek me" when being arrested): Colossians 2:14 "Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;" While going about the business of living I pondered selling clothing and the legal process of trademarking and copyrighting various labels and images. I came to understand the nature of sin in a different way because of the worldly laws involved in intellectual property. Sin is like trademark infringement of Gods image. God is sovereign and He owns everything to us, eternal patent, trade secrets, trademark, copyright, etc. It was illustrated with Babel that we have been seeking to make names for ourselves. The idea of making a name for ourselves can be understood by the many households we now have by way of surname. Surnames are useful but we all share common ancestry in Adam who is from God and look at the repercussions of losing sight of that has had with all the confusion in the world. Confusion is the nicest way I can say how sin has divided us. Im sorry I didnt directly answer why Peter called Jesus Messiah or Christ to begin with but I truly believe that Jesus asking who do you say I AM had part to do with the Holy Spirit revealing it to Peter besides the fact Jesus asked Simon, whom He later called Peter, to walk with HIm and he was compelled to follow. I cant imagine walking up to anyone randomly and saying follow me that they would listen, especially when they were working. I can conjecture maybe at first he thought Jesus was only a prophet but I dont know.
  3. Im not saying be supportive but dont come off as intolerant or bigoted and give the opening for the point youre making to be distracted by your opponent using an attempted character assassination like calling you a bigot or intolerant. It wastes your time having to defend your character and its an old trick to discredit your arguement without a valid reason. You already see that the logic used with claiming youre inrolerant is a recursive loop so do yourself the favor and dont even address the claim. Dont let it become an issue of intolerance when its a matter of Gods law not whatever legal fiction society fabricates. Make it clear you dont hate anyone but you loathe sin as abomination, you love the sinner, not the sin, and hate the sin, not the sinner, and its best to get that out of the way before anyone even suggests you harbor ill will. Finally when engaged with an enemy be concise and to the point. The more you write the easier it is to sidetrack the whole arguement by way of your opponent taking something out of context in attempt to ridicule you.
  4. Obadiah 1:15 "The day of the LORD is near for all nations. As you have done, it will be done to you; your deeds will return upon your own head."
  5. You are the church. Acts 7:47 "But Solomon built him an house. 48Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet, 49Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest? 50Hath not my hand made all these things?" Unfortunately I have to step out at the moment but when I get a chance Im going to elaborate on this passage.
  6. Whether born into or part of the Body of....thanks! Consider Adam in that verse and the world will make more sense.
  7. Serving Jesus. Serving Jesus. Serving Jesus. Serving the Word to the body of Christ is important to look for and a joy in finding.
  8. Jesus was saying dont be a hypocrit. When we judge it isnt to condemn its to bring sinners to repentance and point them to Christ. "As you judge so you shall be judged" so if you condemn you will be condemned or if you give mercy you will be given mercy which ties into do unto others as you would have done unto you. Logic has a way of saying the same thing in different terms and remaining consistant.
  9. And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

    Pride

Psalm 46:10 "Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth." Theres an irony pervasive in all things. Are we not the pride of the Lion of Judah? By humbling ourselves and praising God in all things He is exalted above man. Jesus paid for all sin so He owns it. Deeply consider that our judge paid our court fees and served our sentence. Irony. Trying to get over leads to going under. Be still. Look up to the Son whom is exalted in glory and raise your Head from shadows of things fading and soon to disappear. Let us not quarrel in our quarry as we are dug from this hole of a pit and hewn from the Rock of Salvation. There is always a point but it is not contentious; it is conclusive, and with all being concluded under sin the only Way to rise above is in Christ and He says to, "be still and know that I am God", and He, "will be exalted in the earth.". In this too there is irony. The earth is His footstool and the Lord said to my Lord sit at my right hand til I make your enemies your footstool and the last enemy to be conquered is death. Life is a story that man has come to think ends in death but God has a grave plot twist that will confound the wicked forever.

  13. I agree with you. But John was telling us there's 1 sin we shouldn't even pray for. It could be that praying for it will simply attract the evil beings my cousin associates with to me, and it won't help him. This has been going on over 20 years. He likes being in touch with these beings. But me, I want nothing to do with them. And if he committed the sin John is referring to, I want nothing to do with him. Reading through the thread I would certainly agree with that sin being blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, I know there are different opinions on what precisely that is considering we are not given a clear definition in scripture. Mark 3:28 "Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme: 29But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation: 30Because they said, He hath an unclean spirit." Blaspheming the Holy Spirit is saying the Holy Spirit is unclean: a demon or of the devil.
