  1. (in bold) telling questions for all of us. Seems like an amazing lady.
  2. Unless called to a monastic lifestyle, a Christian should associate with unbelievers, as Jesus did, but his/her life should try to avoid revolving around unbelievers.
  3. Trust those whose lives clearly demonstrate the love of God. Not necessarily those who seem most knowledgeable about the Bible. Living the Bible is more important than putting everyone else right about it!
  4. joi, From what I understand, we are trying to make this a Christian nation. It comes down to a race of whose theocracy gets there first. Maybe we should focus on getting sinners into salvation and building the church?
  5. I think we consider prayer for both parties and do not despise either. Lord have mercy. Amen to that.
  6. because he most likely was raised muslim and lied about be a christian to get his job, I have not seen one thing he has done for christian belief ont other habd he has promotedmuslim at every turn Tell that to the families of Muslim children killed by drones. and the families of the people dead and crippled from 9/11. I thought that happened under Bush's watch? Not Obama's.
  7. Her role in "signing" is ceremonial - she has no authority to refuse.
  8. But isn't that the West's main policy in the Middle East?
  9. The problem for me is that many of the atheists on this forum are on those other forums, as well and in the 10 years that I have been here, none of them have ever made that claim. I would think given the hundreds of atheists that have come and gone, such a claim would have surfaced if your accusation of them were true. Are you saying I'm lying? Nn, just that I don't think it is a common or widespread claim given no one on this board makes that claim and no athesist I have discussed the issue with before ever made that claim. Can you cope with my experience on forums where Atheists post being very different to yours?

  12. Yes, but he's the President; he should speak for all of us, not just one part of the population. His job is to bring together the country and he should not be interjecting himself into what is, essentially, a state issue. Do you not think Obama should speak as he sees things? Politicians usually enter that career so that they can!
  13. Will you accept the fact the I have heard that claim? I have participated in other forums where that very claim is made, by Atheists.
  14. The thing is that he's the president of ALL americans. He made it about race with his statements. That's what this boils down to. Perhaps he felt it needed saying? There have been some highly malignant comments about Martin on Worthy; I wonder if they are typical of parts of American society, or whether most people in fact take a more balanced and respectful view of this young man who has been killed?
  15. Hasn't Obama just articulated what millions of black Americans are thinking?
  16. I would say that baptism in the Spirit can happen at conversion, but often does not, but happens some time later; for some people it coincides with water baptism, though again not everyone. There is a theological sense in which we receive "everything" at conversion, but practically receiving and experiencing all that Christ has gained for us is a lifelong journey.
  17. I am simply repeating what atheistic scientists have told me about Evllution. I am simply stating what is conventionally understood in the scientific comminity (most of whom are atheists). These atheists are not claiming that they see no need for Evolution to have any kind of intelligent causality.I am making that claim over against the accusation that atheistic scientists claim that Evolution = atheism, when that is not what they are saying. Those who are claiming that Gold used evolution are assigning this false value to atheists claiming that they are equivocating Evolution with atheism when they are not. To claim that they are is dishonest. No one is making that claim and thus no one is believing a claim no one is making. This kind of stuff is why honest debate is not possible. I have to spend too much time correcting the false claims being made by others who seem unwililing or unable to correctly frame their opposition's claims. No-one is making which claim?????????
  18. "Evolution requires no God" as a scientific theory, nor does the theory of gravity, nor the theory of relativity. I don't understand the point you are making? No scientific theory requires God. "Science doesn't claim that Evolution = Atheism" - of course not! It is simply not within the scope of science to make any comment whatsoever on the matter. It is Atheists who claim that Evolution = Atheism. It doesn't, though some Christians, foolishly in my view, agree with the Atheists. I don't personally subscribe to the theory of Evolution as currently postulated; I believe it has some serious flaws. I think that eventually science will come up with a better theory of the process by which God brought living things into existence on earth, culminating in mankind.
  19. Those who say "fighting the good fight" involves taking up arms are guilty of a serious heresy, which has bedevilled the Church down the centuries.
  20. I agree. But many Muslim scholars say the same re. the abominable actions of a tiny minority of Muslims.
  21. I didn't marry and then remarry 5 months later, I married and 5 months later had a wedding ceremony. I am not confused, just trying to get the opinions of people on the subject. While I assume this might change, I find it telling that so far nobody has had any scripture to support their position. So what was accomplished at the wedding ceremony? My point is that the marriage happened when you got married, a fact to which you seem to agree. I am not sure what else there is to say about it. Nothing IMHO.
  22. What is your evidence for belief? Or by what basis do you claim this? ................... What do you make of Sharia law becoming implemented in areas where Muslim populations are dominating? Seems to work well in the UK with Jewish "law" in certain civic matters, likewise Sikh "law"; could also work in similar civil areas for Sharia. But mainstream law must be pre-eminent in criminal matters and matters of human rights. problem is that is strictly against teachings of Islamic law. the basic goal of Islam is to make the whole world subject to sharia law thereby subject to Allah... and to do so by force if necessary Most Muslims are purely pragmatic about these things. And are perfectly happy to operate Sharia in some civil matters, alongside the over-riding criminal law system. Just as Jews have done for many, many years. It seems to work well in the UK for both Jewish and Muslim communities. and when there numbers get to the point they can, you will be shocked as to how many of them change. Muslims have lived in the UK for more than 40 years, the vast majority getting on with quiet and peaceable lives. Why do you feel the need to slur peace-loving people when just a tiny minority from the same religion cause trouble? Christianity has hardly had clean hands over the centuries, but we don't expect to be tarred with the same brush as those who have behaved abominably. The difference is that when a Christian commits an atrocity he is doing so DESPITE the teachings of Christ. When a Muslim commits an atrocity, he is doing EXACTLY what Mohammed told him to do. Christians who have acted abominably down the centuries have always justified their actions from the Bible.
