  1. This was my first thought, Ezra. I checked this ministry and Shiloh is correct. They are definitely off-track. But after thinking a little longer I was thinking this latter thought, but thanks to both you and Shiloh for confirming it.
  2. God did not create evil. The Bible seems to say he did. Isaiah 45:7 (AV) 7I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things. But as I pointed out, it was incidental rather than intentional. Akin to the idea that the same sun that melts the wax hardens the clay (from the discussion why did God harden Pharaoh's heart?). What I am saying is that God did not create moral evil. The "evil" that is mentioned in Isa. 45:7 is referring to calamity usually resulting from judgment, such as natural disasters. The biblical languages use the word "evil" to describe not just moral issues but misfortune like natural disasters or unfortunate circumstances. Is. 45:7 is not saying that God created sin, but that he causes bad things to happen in judgment on mankind. He causes good things and he causes bad things. That's the basic jist of the verse in context. Amen Shiloh, I definitely agree. This is the reason that Abraham was so bold when he interceded with God on behalf of Sodom and Gomorrah for Lot's sake. God is getting ready to judge thee two cities, and bring evil/calamity upon them for their wickedness, for a just God, will have to judge sin. But Abraham knew that God was Righteous and began his intercession with this statement: 24) Peradventure there be fifty righteous within the city; will thou also destroy and not spare the place for the fifty righteous that are therein? 25) That be far from Thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteousness with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from Thee: Shall not the Judge of all earth do right? Genesis 19:24-25 We even see a modern day judgment of God upon a very backslidden Christian, for failing to heed God's warning for his sins which he tried to hide from God and the world. For while this man cheated on his wife, he acted like a believer by hearing the Word but he wasn't a doer, James 1:22-24. While I believe that God gave this warning to this man to confess and forsake his sin: But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the LORD, and be sure your sin will find you out, Numbers 32:23. The man continue to play the hypocrite and because God love this backslidden son, He aloud him to be outed, thus God brought evil upon a backslidden believer or what we as believers would call the Chastening of God, Hebrews 12:4-11 IMO this what happen to Josh Duggar, the eldest son of the Duggar Clan, he received God punishment for disgracing Christ and his immediate family, God had given him so many gifts, that the only opinion left after ignoring God's urging was what has sadly happened. So that God will create this type of evil or calamity to correct His Children, and He will also use even greater for the unbelieving.
  3. Yes from what little I know of this the Pastor seems to have cut off the use of a multitude of counsellors, Proverbs 11:14. And no matter how old one is I believe we should always give honor to our parents, for even at my age my folks look out for my best interests, Ephesians 6:4.
  4. I agree; especially considering myself. Ever ask yourself if I was on trial for being a Christian would there be enough evidence to convict me? Very scary most believers practice James 1:23-24.
  5. Thanks I did notice that about the names, and was wondering who was promoting the Bible.
  6. Does anyone here know anything about the Restoration Study Bible? I was wondering if it came from the TR or from the NA? And anything else you might know about it.
  7. I form the light, and created darkness: I make peace, and created evil: I LORD do all these things. Isaiah 45:7 The above Translation comes from the KJV, but the NKJV states calamity and not evil, while the Complete Jewish Bible states woe instead of evil. I would suggest that calamity and woe are much better for the translation as the thought is not that God created sin, but that He created the judgment for the sin. We see this by reading the following passage: Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath no done it? Amos 3:6 One again the KJV states evil while the NKJV states calamity. Evil is an acceptable translation but calamity gives a more modern understanding. The Complete Jewish Bible uses the term disaster. That is God will judge sin by allowing calamity, woe, disaster these types of evil to befall. But He will never have anything to do with sin, with the exception of allowing His dear Son Jesus to become sin for us that we might be saved, John 1:29; II Corinthians 5:21, So that we see that God is not the Author of any sinful thing, James 1:13, who can only give us good gifts thru Jesus Christ, James 1:17; Romans 8:31-32.
  8. While I most definitely agree with Butero and Tristen, meaning I would give these version a thumbs up; I would suggest to read whatever Translation the Holy Spirit is leading you too.
  9. Thanks this sadden me as a I think that the prisoners should have options if possible as many prisoners are literate; but I have also heard of research that show the KJV is one if not the easiest version to read, although I know many think that it is rather difficult to understand. I personally do not use the KJV, because I do not care for the Elizabethan English, with thee's and thou's that doeth. I looked for a survey and found one done by a KJV proponent. That makes me wonder since the person who did it has a bias, but going past that, I found the reasoning as to why they consider it easier. http://www.av1611.org/kjv/kjv_easy.html less syllables per word less letters per word less words per sentence smaller percentage of long words greater percentage of short words than the NKJV, NIV, NASB and NRSV Prayers in churches are sometimes said in Elizabethan English rather then modern English. I think this is influenced by the KJV, but still I believe it is problematic. We do not speak Elizabethan English and God does not require us to pray in Elizabethan English. I think it is more of an affect which leaves a strange impression. I have seen 3 and while two where definitely of the KJVO view, the other wasn't and stated that because of the poetic style it reads easier. ~ Thou Speaketh For Thy Self??? Thanks Joe, I needed a good laugh.
  10. Totally in Agreement. If someone has committed what we believe to be a gross sin, they should show true repentance, which is described as: The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and contrite heart, O God, thou will not despise. Psalms 51:17 The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. Psalms 34:18 For thus saith the High and Lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, Whose Name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones. Isaiah 57:15 ...Thus saith the Lord; but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word. Isaiah 66:2b The Lord Jesus even commanded us to forgive or brother not 7 times but 70x7, Matthew 18:21-22 and this was spoken just right after Jesus gave commands to Church how to discipline see Matthew 18:15-20, Paul commands us to forgive one another as Christ has forgive us in Ephesians 4:32, which is not surprising as we see to the extend that Christ Jesus has saved us from ourselves Romans 7:15-25. When the individual and the Church practice forgiveness, God can so richly forgive us. 25) But when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any, that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. 26) But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses. Mark 11:25-26 This is very similar to Matthew 6:14-15. Plus the words in James 2:8-13, for we find out that mercy rejoiceth against judgment in that 13th verse, so that if a believers show true repentant we should always forgive, cause we need such forgiveness ourselves from the Father. For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath showed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth again judgment. James 2:13
  11. Praise God they took me out of that department tonight. Thank God as my body is aching all over.
  12. So after coming to work with a sore back started with a helper, but someone wasn!t working fast enough and another department so I get this slow person and lose my helper, being already a full day behind. So when our truck comes in tonight I don't were they will put things. But i'm very streamed because the other department has gotten more people to help, while I will have 3-4 pallet after I leave plus tonight truck. Don't want to be rude but this person is killing me.
  13. Thanks this sadden me as a I think that the prisoners should have options if possible as many prisoners are literate; but I have also heard of research that show the KJV is one if not the easiest version to read, although I know many think that it is rather difficult to understand.
  14. Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth Him that begat loveth Him also that is begotten of Him. I John 5:1 12) But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His Name. 13) Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. John 1:12-13 We are born of God, by our belief in our Wonderful Precious Savior Jesus Christ. Hence as believers were first call Christians in Antioch, Acts 11:26, the term born again Christian may not be found in the Bible, but the concept is in complete agreement with the language of the Scriptures. To be a born again Christian is to be born of the Spirit, John 3:6 or if you rather as Paul would say we are adopted into the Family of God; Romans 8:14-17 and Galatians 4:4-7. Xyluz Cher had a daughter named Chastity Bono that decided that she was really a man and had a sex change now goes by the name Chaz Bono.
  15. Be my guess, that does sound like the right time; and of course let us know what they stated.
  16. 13) And the woman which has an husband that believeth not, and if he be please to dwell with her, let her not leave him. 14) For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean, but now are they holy. I Corinthians 7:13-14 I would say by all means stay with her if she will have you.
  17. Hello Worried and one again welcome to the site. The great Apostle Paul who healed many in the name of Christ; did something interesting when writing to Timothy for Paul had heard that Timothy would often get sick from impure water that he would drink instead of using a miracle to heal Timothy, Paul wrote to Timothy: Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy often infirmities. I Timothy 5:23 Just because one seek medical help does not mean he/she doesn't trust Jesus. As for the end times Jesus Himself stated: But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father. Matthew 24:36 I see no problem with seeking to lose weight thru medical means, first, than if it doesn't work seek it thru Jesus, so God may receive the total glory if medical means doesn't work.
  18. I really like Shiloh response. These verses are probably in reference to the following: 19) God is not a man, that He should lie; neither the son of man, that He should repent: hath He said, and shall He not do it? or hath He spoken, and shall He not make it good? 20) Behold I have received commandment to bless: and He hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it. 21) He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob, neither hath He seen perverseness in Israel: the LORD his God is with him, and the shout of a King is among them. Numbers 23:19-21 As Romans 11:28 states ... beloved for the fathers' sake... God remembers Israel for her past faithfulness. But as Shiloh mention this is about God's faithfulness to us His unfaithful servants. We all as children of God blow it from time to time even have so weak of faith we doubt and disbelieve the truth of God, but Paul states If we believe not, yet He is abideth faithful: He cannot deny Himself. II Timothy 2:13 As Jeremiah states after Jerusalem destruction it is because of God mercies and His faithfulness that we are not destroyed. 22) It is because of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassion fail not. 23) They are great every morning; great is thy faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23 So that even after we have messed things up so badly, we have confidence that God will still be willing to bless us in His Son Jesus Christ, not because we have been faithful, but because God is truly faithful to us, and full of so much mercy and grace.
  19. It will be no earlier than Thursday the 27 of August as I work every night til than and it is a 30 to 45 minute drive from my home. But might try to call tomorrow, but if anyone in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota, is going by the Maple Grove MN, Lifeway Bookstore please fell free to ask.
  20. Good question. How would you feel if the sign did read "KJV ONLY" ? You're not necessarily 'wrong' to be offended but put offense in it's proper perspective; it was not aimed at you so why take it personally? Everyone has their own favorite version of the Bible. We seem to be a nation of individuals looking for something to be offended by. We, as believers, need to hold ourselves above such things. Very good point MG and boy do I wish I had remember to ask before I left. I think I would of BP. But overall I have a mindset very close to Butero and Ezra but rather have someone read the NASV than no Bible at all.
  21. No, I didn't, maybe they had a good reason, but just a little token aback didn't think about it before I left. I mean it was just the fact it seem to single out the KJV, while I don't care for many of the newer version I would rather someone have a NIV than no Bible at all, so I would think even if you don't like the KJV it would be better to have a KJV Bible than none at all.
  22. Not sure I agree but thanks for your honest reply Other One.
  23. Really like the answers given. 8) Be sober, be viligant; because your adversary the devil as a roaring lion, walketh about. seeking whom he may devour. 9) Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are n the world. I Peter 5:8-9 Our enemy the devil is out to get each of us as stated we should resist steadfast in our faith in Jesus Christ, any of us and I mean any of us can easily fall prey to the enemy, two recent stories dealing with one individual show this I really believe that Joshua Duggar is a born again Christian, but if all I knew about him were the two recent stories of molesting his sisters and a family friend than being caught in AM and Adultery the last thing I would call him is Christian. Yet I believe if we were rapture today he would be caught with Jesus in the clouds, howbeit rather ashamed but saved nonetheless. When even the great Apostle Peter failed we find out that lack of prayer was one of the main reasons; Matthew 26:40-41. IMO and I know for a fact it is in my cast most believers do not know the true power of God because we don't really have a good pray closet. But renewing our minds is very much needed as we are in a wicked world which will taint our minds and make us easy targets for the enemy.
  24. Perhaps you should just start quoting: Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. Hebrews 13:2 But as most others have said I think she was probably just a little busy and unmindful of the whole situation
