  1. A healing can happen supernaturally or over time. Nasb says 'restore'. Not sure what the difference would be there, but sounds like something a little different than a simple healing physically. I heard this on the radio someone claiming it meant something else, just didnt hear it clearly because I was doing something else, but do know it had to do more with the spirit. But anyway, a little off topic, healings often happen over time too, so I dont believe if it is not instant, you dont have the faith. Why would God give people the gift of healing if we could muster up it up ourselves. We wouldnt need God to use somebody in this gift.
  2. 'Is anyone among you sick? Then he must call for the elders of the church and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick...' I heard once that this word sick did not mean physically sick, but some sort of spiritual sick/ sin. I do not remember the explanation. What is it supposed to mean?
  3. Lol. They closed that other thread. I thought after I posted it a servant might close it because it wasn't in line with the rules somehow, like the other one I posted which I was warned. But I wanted actually to add that to the other thread then found it locked up at the end... So that was my point. Blessings.
  4. 1 Chorinthians 18 "I thank God, I speak in tongues more than you all; however, in the church I desire to speak five words with my mind so that I may instruct others also, rather than ten thousand words in a tongue." However, within the church I desire to speak five words with my mind rather than... He wouldnt have had to say 'however, within the church' if he did not speak it elsewhere also. Also, he says he speaks more than them all. But not in the church.
  5. Recalling Jesus both blessing and giving thanks when fed the five thousand and the four thousand. They only record one or the other. Either he blesses it or gives thanks. I heard someone say your supposed to bless your food to keep from getting sick if it is bad. Ive heard someone say they heard God say 'bless your food' and they didnt and got food poisening.
  6. You seemed like a quite 'nice' person when you pm'd me, and posted on my topic seemed just totally real. Not offensive at all. I responded to your pm very briefly, because I haven't gotten involved with anyone in here being rather new. Just asking questions about doctrine. Sorry you are very homebound. God's blessings. If you'd like to talk thru pm, I would gladly do it.
  7. Can anybody recommend a good book that tells you all the Greek you need to know for translating the bible properly? I assume they make them for this purpose. That was too much at the beginning, but now i am interested.
  8. 2 Chorinthians 9:7 Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. So what exactly is giving under compulsion, and why is it wrong?
  9. I'm sorry, I did not type correctly. I was thinking of 'empty head', not fool. Well for crying out loud I cannot delete this. I DID say empty head at the bottom, so was trying to explain to Shilo357's post.
  10. Tongues are also for praying the will of God in a situation. 'The Holy Spirit interceds for the saints by praying the will of God when we do not know how to pray as we ought to pray.' Not exact quote from the bible don't know exactly where that is in Romans. Not going to look it up on my phone or I will might lose this page and post. Actually not positive it is Romans. Chorinthians probably. If you want it ask for it, maybe God will give it to you, maybe in His own time. Blessings.
  11. I kind of look at it as since they are one, your praying to both, tho it is clear repeatedly about praying to the Father in the name of Jesus, or technically thru Him if you have him as your savior.
  12. I'd actually flood this forum with questions, but I refrain. In my nasb (touted as the most 'literal', which is why I read it, so I trust it the most.) It says: "You have heard that the ancients were told, 'You shall not commit murder'and 'Whoever commits murder shall be liable to the court.' "But I say to you that everone who is angry with his brother shall be guilty before the into the fiery hellcourt; and whoever says to his brother 'You good for nothing,' shall be guilty before the supreme court; and whoever says, 'You fool,' shall be guilty enough to go into the fiery hell. " The niv says 'raca'which is a term of contempt, replacing it with 'You good for nothing.' I know there is the internet in which in some there are varying opinions, and it is more fun to discuss it anyway. I never was clear about this one. Somewhere it says something about empty head? Personally I think that is terrible to say that is a term of contempt, or used as one. I have been guilty of it myself, using a different term tho, and know have been called it as well. But it reminds me of Moses, who said he was slow of speech, and God said 'Who formed the mouth?' Etc. So technically it is insulting God by insulting others who are fearfully and wonderfully made. Far from loving one another as we have been commanded.
  13. Was thinking about Isaiah 55: 8-9 "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts." So in other words, we will never figure it out unless the Lord reveals the understanding.
  14. Is there not a differnce between the end times and the last days? I know the last days are after Christ. So I assumed the end times were later. Yeah, I think I'm right.
  15. 1Timothy 4:5 "for it is sanctified by means of the word of God and prayer." Can you break this down completely, please? Thanks.

    water

In readings in the new testament I have believed that water is the Word of God. As somewhere it says 'having cleansed her by the washing of water with the Word.' In John 2:5, it says, 'Jesus answered, "Truly truly I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the Kingdom of God." My question is, since in the beginning of John it says, 'In the beginning was the Word, and the word was with God, and the Word was God." Well, God is the Word, how can you be born of both the water and the Spirit." Hope I don't sound like I'm slitting hairs, but was wondering if Jesus is actually talking about two separate things here. Just like at the end of this gospel Jesus is pierced with water coming out of His side. What is that supposed to represent, or signify exactly?
  17. Yes, praying to the Father. Just that as is only one scripture I am quoting, I Corinthians 1:9, "God is faithful, through whom you were called into fellowhip with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord." I know this isn't a big deal really, but if we are fellowshipping with someone, we are talking to them. Just had to point that out out when I came across this scripture.
  18. Scroll to the bottom of the page on your cell phone in here and click on 'full version'.
  19. God knows when you are talking to Him. He knows your heart. All the hairs on your head at this moment are even numbered. (no not odd and even numbered). He is totally soverign, all knowing, and if you are talking to someone else, you seriously need to get saved. If something is happening where you are hearing something and not sure who it is, it is probably not God. That does happen, unfortunately. But I do know it is very important to know scripture so that anything contrary to scripture said you will know for certain it is not God. Blessings. Prayer to you concerning this and your growth in your walk with God. Certainly hope all is well. Take care.
  20. A can of worms...as they say. As for me, "God knows those who are His."
  21. One time God answered me, and said, "So you will lead a disciplined life." That was about 4 or 5 months ago, and I really am not quite sure what that exactly means, believe it or not. Since I don't work outside the home, have been for quite a few years, being 'undisciplined', I guess, and not even reading the Word much, choosing to do other things over reading His Word, and often. I got a book in the mail about spiritual disciplines, because I am still not sure excactly what that entails, but after looking thru it briefly, I don't think I like it. I suppose I should read it anyway, tho I was wondering if anybody had good recomendations of any they really liked. But not just regarding spiritual disciplines, I am curious to know what a disciplined life in general looks like. I suppose it varies for everyone, but surely there has to be some general advice that would pertain to everyone? I guess my life was pretty much at whim before. Doing as I pleased. (couldnt work outside the home by the way, tho I would have much preffered that). I do have a work ethic, and did a good job working 'out there'.
  22. They were giving God glory because they were looking down at the ark. It still pointed to God, not them.
  23. I would look sick and exhausted after ten days of no meat. Unless it was God doing the work. Just my two cents here. Couldnt resist throwing it in. Interesting tho, it is mostly translated as vegetables, tho really is supposed to be pulses which is not vegetables only. Grains too.
  24. I seem to do both, tho lately it has been to the Father. Less intimidated now. Truth be told, ive had both answer me.
  25. The reason I came up with this question is after reading Ephesians 1 22-23. And He put all things in subjection under His feet and gave Him as head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all. So if he is head of all things to the church, why would we still be praying to the Father.
