  1. Just remember when you have one finger pointing at another, there three pointing back at you. There is nothing wrong about telling the truth, its when it becomes personal that it is judgment Aka "Hypocrisy and Bigotry are wrong" Truth "You are a hypocrite and a Bigot" - Judgment But be very careful with any of that for we surely have our own hypocrisies and bigotries to over come
  2. All you have done is demonstrate that you do not know what the word "Inspired" means. It means God breathed. That is why it is called God's word. If you want to deny its God's truth you are free to do so, at your own peril
  3. Once you have discounted the inerrancy of God's word, you have left the reservation. 2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, The lesson here to be learned is that just because something does not make sense to you, does not mean it is untrue, it just means it does not make sense to you. God's word is truth, it is inerrant, it is LIFE It was written by men, but inspired by the Holy Spirit, and even after have been written over a period longer than 1000 years, it is perfect and harmonious from beginning to end, and no group of men could that. Mohammed couldn't keep his own word straight over 40 years. Time to get humble my friend and bow to the greater intellect and wisdom of God.
  4. Get closer to God and He will help you overcome those things We do not have to be perfect to come to God. Just humble. Work on the drugs first and get a support group
  5. Well you have got me thinking on this. First and foremost, I submit humbly to God, and what ever authority he places above me as much as is possible and still hold on to the truth. The rules of this forum are a good example. I have a tendency to be a rather blunt individual, speaking plainly...perhaps too plainly. When I came to this forum I found that if I wanted to stay here I would have to moderate my responses. I respect that and sincerely try to do so. I respect people's right to exist and their right to express themselves and believe what they want, but I do not promise to respect what they believe 1 Peter 5:5 Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.” In my my mind the humble submission to one another is done irregardless of respect. It is done from obedience. Although I may be focused on the wrong definition of respect here.
  6. wait...what...Good Instant Coffee.....isn't that an oxymoron
  7. To be honest with you, on Ephesians 6 I don't know. I have heard a lot of preachers speculate on it and the hierarchy of demonic forces, but the older I get the more I fall back on, "if the bible doesn't say anything more on it, than neither do I" that being said Since the rulers, authorities and powers are not flesh and blood I think we can safely assume that we are talking about evil spiritual forces, aka the devil and his demons" but I do not think it is direct action on their part, but rather on their influencing the leaders of the day, which we can see with the leaders, media and entertainment of today. 2nd Corinthians adds a dimension to these that leads me to believe that our fight is to secure our soul (Mind Will and Emotions) purity. To keep ourselves safe. We can have little impact on the rulers of this world except by shining our light, and keeping our light pure.....our minds pure and fixed on the things of God, is the best that we can do. taking us to God's admonition, "Be Holy for I am Holy"
  8. 2 Corinthians 10:2 But I beg you that when I am present I may not be bold with that confidence by which I intend to be bold against some, who think of us as if we walked according to the flesh. 3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, 6 and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled. It is fought in the battlefield of the soul. The arrows are temptations and ill words.
  9. Sorry Worm Food Factories = Our Body. In the Old days the thought was to preserve the body in a box and in as close to the original state as possible.....But I don't think that is the case. I think our bodies will go back to the dust as said, and our Spirtual/Heavenly bodies will be something else
  10. Was reading on the forum and someone referenced: Acts 2:31 he, foreseeing this, spoke concerning the resurrection of the Christ, that His soul was not left in Hades, nor did His flesh see corruption. It reminded me , that Jesus not being born of a human father, did not have the corruptible death that we have, and that his body lay in the tomb for 3 days and did not decay or degrade, and when he rose, He had the same body, nail scars spear wound and all. Our flesh is of course corruptible and returns to the dust. So I looked further and Read 1 Corinthians 15. At it answered a lot of questions and raised a few more 1 Cor 15: 42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. The body is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption. 43 It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power. 44 It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. 45 And so it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being.” The last Adam became a life-giving spirit. 46 However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural, and afterward the spiritual. 47 The first man was of the earth, made of dust; the second Man is the Lord from heaven. 48 As was the man of dust, so also are those who are made of dust; and as is the heavenly Man, so also are those who are heavenly. 49 And as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man. 50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption. 51 Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed— 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” 55 “O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?” The Natural Body dies and the Spiritual Body rises Incorruptible. Questions What is that heavenly man/woman look like? Will there even be genders? Does it matter how we dispose of this worm food factory we are walking around in, as the Traditional churches felt? The Bible makes a distinction between the natural and the spiritual persons , The earthly and heavenly person. Will we even have a body perse? Stuff we may not have complete answers to, but interesting. Love to hear your take.
  11. Jesus told his own disciples to carry swords for protection because it is an evil world. And evil people will do things to you. It is my considered duty that if someone comes after me or mine to do harm, I will stop them with whatever force necessary. Luke 22: 36 Then He said to them, “But now, he who has a money bag, let him take it, and likewise a knapsack; and he who has no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one. 37 For I say to you that this which is written must still be [e]accomplished in Me: ‘And He was numbered with the transgressors.’ For the things concerning Me have an end.” 38 So they said, “Lord, look, here are two swords.” And He said to them, “It is enough.” Average 911 response time 15-30 minutes. Average Sig Saur response time, 0.25 seconds I don't mean to be callous, and I hope I never will have to be put in that position, but if forced I will defend my family.
  12. If your success depends on the suffering of others who come after you, I would say yes. It is too unethical.
  13. This is true. I guess the point I was trying to make is that we are all broken vessels in need of a savior. And while it is true a Christian cannot practice sin, we still do fall into it. For while our Spirit has been made New and of God, our flesh is still the same old miserable corrupt garbage it always was. Romans 7: 8 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find. 19 For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice. 20 Now if I do what I will not to do, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. 21 I find then a law, that evil is present with me, the one who wills to do good. 22 For I delight in the law of God according to the inward man. 23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. 24 O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? 25 I thank God—through Jesus Christ our Lord!
  14. the only difference between the saint and the sinner, is that we get back up after a fall
  15. Hmmm something I struggle with. While I bow before my Lord, I will not bow before the storm
  16. Or if He just commands us unbidden?
  17. Why do we hesitate when it comes to the things of God? He is God and He is good. And yet when he calls us out to the deep water we are often left at the edge of the lake dipping our toe in when we should be diving head first? Matthew 14: 25 Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea. 26 And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out for fear. 27 But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, [c]“Be of good cheer! [d]It is I; do not be afraid.” 28 And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” 29 So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. 30 But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!” 31 And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” 32 And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. We are familiar with the story of Peter and walking on the water, and sometimes we focus on the fact that Peter lost his faith, but soon you come to realize he was the only one who got out the boat. All the disciples saw Jesus walking on the water, but only Peter called out. And only Peter got out, and sure he failed, but Jesus was there to catch Him. Peter was always the brave one, and the aash one. We criticize him for His lack of faith and denying Christ. But he was the one who was close enough to the Lord to be recognized and accused, John was back with the women (Mary and Mary) and the other nine had scattered. We should try to emulate Peter, to jump out of the boat when Jesus calls us. Knowing that if our faith fails us, Jesus will be there to catch us. Be bold in your faith, not timid, or things may pass you by. Peter did come off looking bad from time to time, but pride and fear are terrible reasons to resist the call of the Lord
  18. We have already covered that. Yes Tongues and KNOWLEDGE will pass away when that which is perfect has come. But it is my assertion that the perfect has not come because we do not know JUST as we are known The whole section makes that plain....you stopped too short 1 Cor 13: 8 Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away. 11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 12 For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.
  19. Can you provide me with a Scriptural reference for that. I agree that "miracle services" and people claiming to be miracle workers are not right, but where do you see that God cannot or will not use someone else to accomplish His will in the form of a miracle?
  20. Yes I do, for I do not believe the criteria for them going away has been met Plus the Holy Spirit speaks through all of us. And that is prophesy. No longer do prophets serve as the voice of God, for we al have the Holy Spirit within us. But a prophet can be an echo of God
  21. Which church are you referring to? The One that Jesus is the Head of? Certainly not. For His church has no tradition and false doctrines If you are talking about a specific denomination of men, then be specific Christians must turn to the Whole bible, with understanding, that the Old covenant does not save. Galatians 5: 4 You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace Sorry I didn't read any further, but that is where the train jumped the tracks for me
  22. you can't even prove evolution is real You have never once observed an act of speciation and natural selection and adaptation of species that remains that species is NOT evolution
  23. And yet, only one of them was written by God So if the one that was written by man disagrees with what God says? its in the trash
  24. There are two types of tongues, one is prayer in the Holy Spirit which edifies us And there is tongues and interpretation which edifies the church 1 Cor 14: 4 He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church. Why God included both prophecy and tongues and interpretations if they are the same thing doesn't make sense to me unless they have differing operations and purposes. But what those are, I am not sure. The only clue I have is in my experience, that when someone stands up in faith and gives a tongue, and SOMEONE else stands up and interprets it...it seems to give it more gravitas in a church setting. Prophesy to me is more one and one. More personal I have experienced both and as with all things "Charismatic" I have experienced them done wrong, in the flesh and not of God
  25. And why do you not believe it? I know 1 Corintians 13 says they will fail when that which is perfect is come. 1 cor 13: 8 Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is [d]perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away. 11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 12 For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known. But I do not believe it is referring to the bible, (as I have heard from cessationists) because the scripture goes on to say that when that happens we will know God just as we are known, and I am just not there yet Jesus can't be what's perfect (in this context)for he had already come (although I believe it is referring to His return) The Holy Spirit can't be what is perfect (In this context), because he had already come. and was using people to prophecy and speak tongues And after saying all that Paul went on to instruct us on the correct way to speak in tongues and prophesy. Why would God include a whole chapter in the finished bible on the proper etiquette of Tongues and Interpretation, if it was going away with the arrival of the finished bible?
