  1. Yes that's a very good visual mental image. I know exactly what you mean. God bless you Kwik.
  2. I didn't know it was spelt wrong until I put it into Google and that told me I had it wrong. I have had plenty of University education but I'm not a great speller (my qualifications were not for English). Thankfully computers have spell check or I'd be in trouble.
  3. Yes, I'll just keep reading the Bible every night. I have seen some Preachers on TV but I haven't watched for very long as I don't know if they are preaching the truth or not. I look forward to the day when I know where to look in the Bible to compare it with things I have heard. I wish I could speed read and remember everything important I had read God bless you Kwik.
  4. Well I voted and then I looked the word up. It appears that you may have spelt it wrong.
  5. So is that, yes both dresses and skirts are acceptable for women to wear? (Just trying to clarify it and not misinterpret).
  6. You mostly keep mentioning dresses. Do you distinguish between dresses and skirts? Are they both acceptable in your eyes?
  7. Thanks for starting this thread bopeep1909. As a New Christian I don't know who is teaching the true word of God. I recognize some names that people are posting so I will look into them.
  8. Women wear pants for different reasons. There are other pants than jeans such as dress pants. What if a woman is wearing pants because of a problem with her legs that she is trying to hide? What if a woman is wearing pants because she feels vulnerable wearing skirts or dresses whereas she feels safer wearing pants? What if a woman is wearing pants because she has worn them since leaving school and hasn't worn a dress or skirt since? Not because she is trying to be like a man but because she just doesn't feel comfortable wearing skirts or dresses. What if a woman is wearing pants because they are warmer than skirts and dresses? What if a woman is wearing pants because they are more practical for carrying out the tasks she needs to do that day? There are probably other reasons women wear pants that I can't think of at the moment.
  9. Butero, I'm buying a NKJV next week. I used BibleGateway yesterday and did a split screen comparison between NIV, NKJV and KJV from John Chapter 3 (NIV being my current bible). I had no problems reading what was written in the NKJV. I then compared the NKJV and the KJV and that helped me to learn what a couple of the old English words meant. In the future I hope to also get a KJV and do the side by side reading as kwikphilly suggested.
  10. Thanks for that information Willa. I prefer to buy a Bible than to read them on line. I am going to buy a NKJV and have my current NIV as my second Bible.
  11. I brought my first bible a few months ago. I didn't really know which one to buy and so I brought a NIV. Based on your comments above and other threads that have commented about which Bible version to get, I will be going to the shop next week to buy a new bible.
  12. Thanks kwikphilly for writing such helpful words. I'm now not feeling confused. I understand the Trinity better now.
  13. Ideally I would love to be able to read the KJV and understand every word I read. Even though I come from an English speaking country that speaks and writes UK English not USA English (which has different spellings) I still do not understand the older English of the KJV. If I was to read the KJV I would likely misinterpret some of the older English language and get the wrong meaning from it. Maybe someone can suggest something that you can use to translate every older English word into what that means?
  14. RustyAngel, I do find it to hard too understand the old English of the KJB even though I'm English speaking. I brought a NIV bible a few months ago but I have been wondering about getting a NKJ as it seems more people on here prefer it to the NIV. I look forward to understanding the Trinity fully. A couple of months ago after reading lots about it I said to God that I didn't understand it properly but that I was going to have faith in it. Thank you for your very encouraging words.
  15. Thank you manuelf324 for helping to clarify the Godhead for me.
  16. Thank you for your helpful post sharing how you talk to God/Jesus Willa.
  17. Thank you RustyAngel for such a great explanation.
  18. Thank you MorningGlory, Cletus and RustyAngel for clarifying this for me. I didn't want to be doing the wrong thing and now I can stop worrying. One further question. Can you just talk to Jesus/God about stuff during your day? I don't mean praying specifically for something. Just chatting to Jesus/God. I do pray everyday but I also just talk sometimes about things during my day.
  19. Thank you for your encouraging and helpful words johnc5055.
  20. Can I talk to Jesus or do I only talk to God? Ok well it might seem like a simple question but as a New Christian I'm unsure of this. I asked the question to the "Got questions" website but didn't get a specific answer for this. Instead it linked me to an article on how to pray to God. I was talking to Jesus (not praying to Jesus just God) and talking to God but then I read that you should only pray to God. I couldn't find anywhere about talking to Jesus just talking to God. However I've read about people saying about having a relationship with Jesus and calling out to him when they need help so I'm a bit confused. So can I talk to Jesus or do I only talk to God? If the answer relates to the Trinity please explain how. I've done quite a bit of reading about the Trinity and I kind of understand it. Sorry if this post is confusing. I'm confused.
  21. From another New Christian, thanks for posting this question Struggling. Thanks also to everyone for your helpful answers.
  22. What are the best Christian pages on Facebook that you would recommend? I haven't searched for these yet. I've been sticking to normal websites so far in helping me learn as a New Christian.
  23. I was late to join Facebook, then after about a year I quit it because I was sick of all the game feeds and silly posts and having friends on there that weren't close friends. I ended up not really posting anything. After being off it for over a year I signed up again so I could follow my favorite animal charities/organizations. I use an email address that has no contacts in it so Facebook can't suggest people to me and I didn't state the schools I had attended or workplaces. I have no friends on my page and that is how I want it. Maybe it depends on people's ages. I'm born towards the end of Generation X so I didn't grow up with Facebook etc. I'm a bit low tech anyway and don't even own a smart phone just a normal cellphone. I prefer using my laptop. I'm one of those who are a bit shy anyway and hate having my photo taken let alone take a selfie and stick it on Facebook for everyone to see . Some of my interests have definitely changed since when I was in my 20s.
  24. Hi Forgone. How long has it been since your relationship ended? If your relationship has ended recently it is a good idea to spend sometime being single. It's good to have time to get over the other person fully, work on building your self esteem back up, rediscover interests/hobbies that you like that you may have dropped while in a relationship. Spend time catching up with family and friends more and volunteering somewhere if you have the time. If you are feeling lonely why not get a Bible and read the New Testament and fill yourself up with Jesus's words. When you do meet someone new, remember to be yourself and not a fake you. You want to end up with a partner and (hopefully) husband one day who loves you just the way you are.
