  1. Being pregnant isn't a sin, Mary was unwed when she was overshadowed by the Holy Spirit and became pregnant with Jesus, and God does not sin. Scripture tells us that children are a gift from God. Also, we can't assume she sinned to become pregnant, as pregnancy can also result from rape, or artificial insemination, to name two examples. To make a righteous judgement, your friend would need to determine if fornication actually took place. If she did commit fornication, then after repentance, she should be restored as per scripture. After repentance, to continue in ministry work would depend on your friends church's by laws or signed commitments (if she signed such).
  2. I enjoy Bob DeWaay. He posts a lot of articles at Critical Issues Commentary. http://cicministry.org/
  3. You've all been very helpful. Thank you! I'm in complete agreement that we may not know how the forest devoured people, but can believe it did happen, and that it happened through God's providence and power.
  4. You're welcome, Larry 2.
  5. I've noticed two ways... - click on the envelope icon located at the top of the forum page, located next to your name when you're signed in. - hover your mouse pointer over a member's name in a thread, you'll see an option to message.
  6. I'm having a difficult time understanding how the forest killed these people during the battle. How do trees kill people? 6 Then the people went out into the field against Israel, and the battle took place in the forest of Ephraim. 7 The people of Israel were defeated there before the servants of David, and the slaughter there that day was great, 20,000 men. 8 For the battle there was spread over the whole countryside, and the forest devoured more people that day than the sword devoured. 2 Samuel 18:6-8 NASB
  7. Correct, Out of the Shadows! (Found in Ruth chapter 3). Now it's your turn to ask a Bible question.
  8. The Gentiles received faith. When they had arrived and gathered the church together, they began to report all things that God had done with them and how He had opened a door of faith to the Gentiles. Acts 14:27 Question: How did Ruth ask Boaz to marry her?
  9. Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Galatians 5:19-24. Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 I know sometimes people can be difficult to get along with, and to love, however, we are to strive to show love.
  10. The verse should be listed as 2 Peter 2:1.
  11. The answer is, D) Mary of Bethany. Mathew 26:6-13 (I didn't know her name is Mary, but the scripture states they were in Bethany, so, I guessed.) My question; What is described as "the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen"?
  12. Her child is Samuel. Fill in the blank; The words of ________, who was among the sheepherders from Tekoa, which he envisioned in visions concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam son of Joash, king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.
