Retrobyter, Thanks for being jovial & affirming; it's very much appreciated! If you notice what the verse actually says; (caps mine) ".....and let the DRY land appear”; and it was so." (Btw, there is very good Jewish Midrash based on the Bible claiming the earth is about 15 billion years old, mankind created 25 million years ago and Adam & Eve placed in the garden and filled with God's spirit 6000 years ago.)
  2. Brittany, one of the unfortunate results of the modern Christian doctrine that since Yeshua died for your sins past, present and future and all is forgiven is the perception it relieves us of any consequences. The way this doctrine is supposed to work is; you're so thankful for the forgiveness procured by Yeshua that you love him so much you don't sin. The truth is; it doesn't always work this way - because we are human. The very first Jewish Christians viewed and practiced things long forgotten by modern Christianity, one of these is "Teshuvah" which is loosely translated as 'repentance' but it is really more how to deal with sin. First off, don't see your sin as a bad thing, think of it as a blessing from God; as a opportunity to express your Love to God by overcoming it. God could take this sin away from you, but that would rob you of the opportunity to express your Love to Him and rob you of getting stronger by overcoming an obstacle. You are blessed with an opportunity others without this particular sin don't have. Second, make this sin cost you. Currently its costing you Bible reading, prayer, and peace with God, obviously that isn't enough or you wouldn't be habitually repeating it, so raise the price! When modern Christians sin they tell Jesus they are sorry or others go to a priest for confession and then recieve forgivness. But it has not always been this way. The first Jewish Christians practiced reconciliation. For example; if you did something to another, sure you confessed to God and asked for forgiveness, but you knew you would Not be forgiven unless you went to the person and made reconciliation. Trust me when I say this is a powerful deterrent to repeat offenses! If this is a personal sin, not affecting others, the principle is the same; raise the price, make it cost you something. You could make it a negative cost, such as fasting from something you really like, this is not without its merits, but personally I like a positive cost. In other words this sin committed once is going to cost you 2 big acts of preplanned kindness to others. Basically you turn the tables on this sin by forcing it to make you a better person. -priceless- This being a forum, I don't doubt others will attack the above saying a person can't pay for their own sins. It's not about paying or forgiveness, its about actively dealing with sin; dealing with it smartly and decisively, its about being an "Overcomer" Genesis 4:7 “If you do well, will not your countenance be lifted up? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door; and its desire is for you, but you must master it.” Don't think I am discounting prayer, fasting, the Holy Spirit or the work of Christ. I'm saying you need to prayerfully and smartly put your faith into practice by actively engaging this sin. Very precious few have the strength to meet it head on in battle, that's why you have to be smart about it and be willing to do what it takes. 30+ years ago I couldn't quit smoking weed. Finally I requested some time off work. I walked into the mountains by myself and God for a week.......that's a whole other story........been weed free ever since. Thank you God! The point is: you HAVE TO DO YOUR PART, you just have to figure out what that part is, figure out what works for you, and never give up! And Remember: the best relationships are formed when two work together to overcome a common obstacle. In this case; God and you.
  3. SP, I'm a guy, I like simple and to the point lists, so please don't construe my lack of emotional words as not caring, I care, therefore - my list : ) 1) Your Husband is depressed 2) You cannot fix your Husband 3) Currently your Husband doesn't want to deal with conflict 4) Your Husband is avoiding stress 5) Your Husband is in the midst of a fierce internal battle 6) Your Husband is currently losing this battle 7) Many great and awesome Christian leaders have dealt with personal depression ---What you can do---- 1) Do not focus on your husband's shortcomings 2) Focus on maintaining a healthy relationship with God 3) Pray, Pray, Pray, even fast if you feel inclined 4) Do not give your Husband anything to push back against, no conflict, no stress 5) Be happy, joyful and positive yourself 6) Love your husband, encourage him with kind positive words, compliments and actions, hugs and kisses, ALWAYS, CONSTANTLY and CONSISTENTLY 7) If you need to vent do so, get rid of it rather than carrying it around, but vent to God and if need be to only ONE strong Christian woman mature enough to pray and support you while not gossiping. There is a saying among horse whisperers; "It's never the horses fault, its always your fault" the meaning being; the best way to fix a horse is to fix yourself. This doesn't necessarily mean you're the problem, what it means is you become introspective, taking personal responsibility for your actions/reactions and effect change in yourself creating the proper environment for the desired outcome.
  4. Lol! Yes, by the case if there's a good sale. I buy many duplicate Bibles of my favorites because they get given away. I always keep Bibles in my truck and Jeep to be given away when the opportunity arises. My shelves are filled with Bibles as a woman's closet with a shoe fetish.

Gen 1:2 "The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the [fn]surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters." Gen 1:9 "Then God said, “Let the waters below the heavens be gathered into one place, and let the dry land appear”; and it was so."
  6. Sure, I agree with all the verses you posted, but none of them address "timing". No doubt faithful Jews will recognize Yeshua at the second advent of Messiah as told in Zechariah. (Note to Mods, this post is NOT in the categories you told me not to discuss, so please do not delete)
  7. Judaism 101 • Humanity was created in the "image" of the Creator • The "image" of the Creator is the ability to discern and reason • Humanity has an inclination to both good and evil • Free will is the ability to choose which inclination to follow
  8. Flatness can be subjective if it is considered relative to size. (in this case size of the ground considered and the size of the brain doing the considering)
  9. What do you think Yeshua was eluding to when he said "no man knows the day or the hour"? Feast of Trumpets is the ONLY Feast you never know when it starts until it starts, but that doesn't mean you don't know approximately when it is supposed to start.
  10. Oh, come on, Obama is a god fearing man.......we just don't know which god!
  11. The concept of the evil inclination comes from the Bible and has easily been around 1500 years before the doctrine of original sin.
  12. Amen Amen! No need to discuss, excepting others would benefit. But the fact we wouldn't be here for long if we did, kinda says it all
  13. Yea, I don't know why we need a trinity doctrine to understand God can send His Spirit?
  14. If you don't mind me adding: Yeshua said we wouldn't know the day or the hour, he said nothing about months or years. Yom Teruah, (Feast of Trumpets) is the ONLY Feast day that begins the 1st day of a month. The new moon must be sighted before the 1st day of a new month can begin. The new moon can be one or two days long, when the moon is sighted by two witnesses a trumpet is blown to let the people know. No one ever knows the day or hour of Yom Teruah.
  15. Because the competing doctrines of evil inclination vs original sin should be delineated.
