  1. Praying for you Ivan. The person I spoke about before with OCD does take some medication. It has not helped, that she notices, but some are relieved by some of the medications out there now.
  2. Lots of people gave good advice. Praying for you Ivan.
  3. Ivan you are very welcome. Yes, that's what I mean like entertaining thoughts and lust. May I say, that you just give it to God tell him how you don't feel that way and you love Him. When you pray you can say if any part of those thoughts were me forgive me. Ask for help and deliverance from this and healing from OCD. OCD is a bully the therapist tells this person I know. You have to stand up to the bully. And say no! Trust God to forgive you. And just focus on God and get away from too much self-focus. Try to do something else after you pray like listen to good worship music and singing is also great to do along with the music. Have a verse too memorized or written to think on. I love Psalm 23 and 91 very much. I hope this helps I am no expert only know a few things. Please forgive if anything is not a help I really want to try to help but my prayers are the best I can do for you. 1 John 1:9 New International Version (NIV) 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
  4. Ivan, Sorry you are going through this. God knows your heart and what you really think and feel. Just because you have a thought come in does not mean you are agreeing with it or entertaining it. You can reject it. You don't agree with that thought and God know's it. If you feel you need more just ask God to forgive you ... he knows your struggles. I know someone going through therapy (not a christian therapist) for ocd. The therapist tells the person to say to the thought OCD you are a liar and I am not going to listen to you. Hope this helps. This lady is a christian who has OCD she even had it as a child but it was slight then and went away but later in life came back very strong (now) but she has had improvement with this therapy. We also know who else is a liar and the Father of lies. May I suggest you put yourself a prayer request in the prayer areas. Praying for you right now Ivan.
  5. Sorry to hear about your difficulty. Have you been married before?
  6. Yes, this person is now taking medication and it's not working much and working with a doctor and therapist.
  7. That ye come not among these nations, these that remain among you; neither make mention of the name of their gods, nor cause to swear by them, neither serve them, nor bow yourselves unto them: Joshua Exodus 23:13 Be careful to do everything I have said to you. Do not invoke the names of other gods; do not let them be heard on your lips. The bible teaches also to talk to people with gentleness and respect. I know Paul spoke to some about the "Unknown God" as recorded in the New Testament. But he did not study all their religions to use this opportunity (if so where is it written?) to preach the gospel. Acts 17:16-34 New International Version (NIV) In Athens 16 While Paul was waiting for them in Athens, he was greatly distressed to see that the city was full of idols. 17 So he reasoned in the synagogue with both Jews and God-fearing Greeks, as well as in the marketplace day by day with those who happened to be there. 18 A group of Epicurean and Stoic philosophers began to debate with him. Some of them asked, “What is this babbler trying to say?” Others remarked, “He seems to be advocating foreign gods.” They said this because Paul was preaching the good news about Jesus and the resurrection. 19 Then they took him and brought him to a meeting of the Areopagus, where they said to him, “May we know what this new teaching is that you are presenting? 20 You are bringing some strange ideas to our ears, and we would like to know what they mean.” 21 (All the Athenians and the foreigners who lived there spent their time doing nothing but talking about and listening to the latest ideas.) 22 Paul then stood up in the meeting of the Areopagus and said: “People of Athens! I see that in every way you are very religious. 23 For as I walked around and looked carefully at your objects of worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: to an unknown god. So you are ignorant of the very thing you worship—and this is what I am going to proclaim to you. 24 “The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. 25 And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else. 26 From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. 27 God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us. 28 ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’[a] As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’[b] 29 “Therefore since we are God’s offspring, we should not think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone—an image made by human design and skill. 30 In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent. 31 For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to everyone by raising him from the dead.” 32 When they heard about the resurrection of the dead, some of them sneered, but others said, “We want to hear you again on this subject.” 33 At that, Paul left the Council. 34 Some of the people became followers of Paul and believed. Among them was Dionysius, a member of the Areopagus, also a woman named Damaris, and a number of others. __________________________- It is good to be equipped and listening and ready to answer so to correct wrong thinking and give the gospel. As I SAID earlier with gentleness and respect. But to study other religions not sure that is what God would want us to do, still pondering on this, but I know many suggest we should. It is biblical? I think people will tell us what they think or what their religion teaches in conversation and we can discuss what the bible says on those points. p.s Did not read hardly any of the postings. I apologize if this point was already brought up.
  8. Some people who have bad cases of OCD just cannot seem to ignore these compulsions. It is not rational and is fear based. For some they need to go do something it's not all in their head sometimes. This person I know does not and did not do any drugs had a mild case as a kid and as an adult came back in a big way. I know someone very close to me who has this it is an awful thing to watch this brilliant and loving person so hurting in this. It breaks my heart. It has paralyzed this persons life. This person is a professing christian . It has to be fought but this person has a hard time. I have been praying for healing.
  9. LadyKay so happy you responded. I have been thinking about you and praying for you. Big hug. God is with you and will see you through. His love is steadfast not like humans. Love to you Ladykay.
  10. LadyKay, Praying for you Ladykay. So sad to hear life has been so hard and you're feeling low. Praying God will change it up today for you and that you will feel better. I find reading Psalm 23 several times a day or every hour (if needed) with different emphasis on each Word is very encouraging. Cling to God's promises and counting blessings helps, it's ok to feel sad and want to be with the Lord and continue to trust God during the storm. Keep talking to him like David did. Big hug to your sister. Please let us hear from you and let us know how you are doing. Love in Christ to you.
  11. You asked a question and the answer is yes. I would pray for him as our Spiritual leaders need our prayers and pray for wisdom from God as to what he wants you to do, if anything.
  12. wow. I only posted to close this thread once. Not sure how all these showed up. Sorry.
  13. You wrote if you don't know the song you won't be there! Not sure that is true. We get to heaven by faith in Jesus.
  14. In Revelation there is the Song of Moses and the Song of the Lamb mentioned! Revelation 15 New International Version (NIV) Seven Angels With Seven Plagues 15 I saw in heaven another great and marvelous sign: seven angels with the seven last plagues—last, because with them God’s wrath is completed. 2 And I saw what looked like a sea of glass glowing with fire and, standing beside the sea, those who had been victorious over the beast and its image and over the number of its name. They held harps given them by God 3 and sang the song of God’s servant Moses and of the Lamb: “Great and marvelous are your deeds, Lord God Almighty. Just and true are your ways, King of the nations.[a] 4 Who will not fear you, Lord, and bring glory to your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.”[ b] Exodus 15 New International Version (NIV) The Song of Moses and Miriam 15 Then Moses and the Israelites sang this song to the Lord: “I will sing to the Lord, for he is highly exalted. Both horse and driver he has hurled into the sea. 2 “The Lord is my strength and my defense[a]; he has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will exalt him. 3 The Lord is a warrior; the Lord is his name. 4 Pharaoh’s chariots and his army he has hurled into the sea. The best of Pharaoh’s officers are drowned in the Red Sea.[b] 5 The deep waters have covered them; they sank to the depths like a stone. 6 Your right hand, Lord, was majestic in power. Your right hand, Lord, shattered the enemy. 7 “In the greatness of your majesty you threw down those who opposed you. You unleashed your burning anger; it consumed them like stubble. 8 By the blast of your nostrils the waters piled up. The surging waters stood up like a wall; the deep waters congealed in the heart of the sea. 9 The enemy boasted, ‘I will pursue, I will overtake them. I will divide the spoils; I will gorge myself on them. I will draw my sword and my hand will destroy them.’ 10 But you blew with your breath, and the sea covered them. They sank like lead in the mighty waters. 11 Who among the gods is like you, Lord? Who is like you— majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders? 12 “You stretch out your right hand, and the earth swallows your enemies. 13 In your unfailing love you will lead the people you have redeemed. In your strength you will guide them to your holy dwelling. 14 The nations will hear and tremble; anguish will grip the people of Philistia. 15 The chiefs of Edom will be terrified, the leaders of Moab will be seized with trembling, the people[c] of Canaan will melt away; 16 terror and dread will fall on them. By the power of your arm they will be as still as a stone— until your people pass by, Lord, until the people you bought[d] pass by. 17 You will bring them in and plant them on the mountain of your inheritance— the place, Lord, you made for your dwelling, the sanctuary, Lord, your hands established. 18 “The Lord reigns for ever and ever.” First song in the bible Exodus 15: 19 When Pharaoh’s horses, chariots and horsemen[e] went into the sea, the Lord brought the waters of the sea back over them, but the Israelites walked through the sea on dry ground. 20 Then Miriam the prophet, Aaron’s sister, took a timbrel in her hand, and all the women followed her, with timbrels and dancing. 21 Miriam sang to them: “Sing to the Lord, for he is highly exalted. Both horse and driver he has hurled into the sea
  15. Deuteronomy 32 New American Standard Bible (NASB) The Song of Moses 32 “Give ear, O heavens, and let me speak; And let the earth hear the words of my mouth. 2 “Let my teaching drop as the rain, My speech distill as the dew, As the droplets on the fresh grass And as the showers on the herb. 3 “For I proclaim the name of the Lord; Ascribe greatness to our God! 4 “The Rock! His work is perfect, For all His ways are [a]just; A God of faithfulness and without injustice, Righteous and upright is He. 5 “[b]They have acted corruptly toward Him, They are not His children, because of their defect; But are a perverse and crooked generation. 6 “Do you thus repay the Lord, O foolish and unwise people? Is not He your Father who has bought you? He has made you and established you. 7 “Remember the days of old, Consider the years of all generations. Ask your father, and he will inform you, Your elders, and they will tell you. 8 “When the Most High gave the nations their inheritance, When He separated the sons of [c]man, He set the boundaries of the peoples According to the number of the sons of Israel. 9 “For the Lord’s portion is His people; Jacob is the allotment of His inheritance. 10 “He found him in a desert land, And in the howling waste of a wilderness; He encircled him, He cared for him, He guarded him as the pupil of His eye. 11 “Like an eagle that stirs up its nest, That hovers over its young, He spread His wings and caught them, He carried them on His pinions. 12 “The Lord alone guided him, And there was no foreign god with him. 13 “He made him ride on the high places of the earth, And he ate the produce of the field; And He made him suck honey from the rock, And oil from the flinty rock, 14 Curds of cows, and milk of the flock, With fat of lambs, And rams, the breed of Bashan, and goats, With the finest of the wheat— And of the blood of grapes you drank wine. 15 “But [d]Jeshurun grew fat and kicked— You are grown fat, thick, and sleek— Then he forsook God who made him, And scorned the Rock of his salvation. 16 “They made Him jealous with strange gods; With abominations they provoked Him to anger. 17 “They sacrificed to demons who were not God, To gods whom they have not known, New gods who came lately, Whom your fathers did not dread. 18 “You neglected the Rock who begot you, And forgot the God who gave you birth. 19 “The Lord saw this, and spurned them Because of the provocation of His sons and daughters. 20 “Then He said, ‘I will hide My face from them, I will see what their end shall be; For they are a perverse generation, Sons in whom is no faithfulness. 21 ‘They have made Me jealous with what is not God; They have provoked Me to anger with their [e]idols. So I will make them jealous with those who are not a people; I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation, 22 For a fire is kindled in My anger, And burns to the lowest part of [f]Sheol, And consumes the earth with its yield, And sets on fire the foundations of the mountains. 23 ‘I will heap misfortunes on them; I will use My arrows on them. 24 ‘They will be wasted by famine, and consumed by [g]plague And bitter destruction; And the teeth of beasts I will send upon them, With the venom of crawling things of the dust. 25 ‘Outside the sword will bereave, And inside terror— Both young man and virgin, The nursling with the man of gray hair. 26 ‘I would have said, “I will cut them to pieces, I will remove the memory of them from men,” 27 Had I not feared the provocation by the enemy, That their adversaries would misjudge, That they would say, “Our hand is [h]triumphant, And the Lord has not done all this.”’ 28 “For they are a nation [i]lacking in counsel, And there is no understanding in them. 29 “Would that they were wise, that they understood this, That they would discern their [j]future! 30 “How could one chase a thousand, And two put ten thousand to flight, Unless their Rock had sold them, And the Lord had given them up? 31 “Indeed their rock is not like our Rock, Even our enemies [k]themselves judge this. 32 “For their vine is from the vine of Sodom, And from the fields of Gomorrah; Their grapes are grapes of poison, Their clusters, bitter. 33 “Their wine is the venom of [l]serpents, And the [m]deadly poison of cobras. 34 ‘Is it not laid up in store with Me, Sealed up in My treasuries? 35 ‘Vengeance is Mine, and retribution, In due time their foot will slip; For the day of their calamity is near, And the impending things are hastening upon them.’ 36 “For the Lord will vindicate His people, And will have compassion on His servants, When He sees that their [n]strength is gone, And there is none remaining, bond or free. 37 “And He will say, ‘Where are their gods, The rock in which they sought refuge? 38 ‘Who ate the fat of their sacrifices, And drank the wine of their drink offering? Let them rise up and help you, Let them be your hiding place! 39 ‘See now that I, I am He, And there is no god besides Me; It is I who put to death and give life. I have wounded and it is I who heal, And there is no one who can deliver from My hand. 40 ‘Indeed, I lift up My hand to heaven, And say, as I live forever, 41 If I sharpen My [o]flashing sword, And My hand takes hold on justice, I will render vengeance on My adversaries, And I will repay those who hate Me. 42 ‘I will make My arrows drunk with blood, And My sword will devour flesh, With the blood of the slain and the captives, From the long-haired [p]leaders of the enemy.’ 43 “Rejoice, O nations, with His people; For He will avenge the blood of His servants, And will render vengeance on His adversaries, And will atone for His land and His people.” 44 Then Moses came and spoke all the words of this song in the hearing of the people, he, with [q]Joshua the son of Nun. 45 When Moses had finished speaking all these words to all Israel, 46 he said to them, “Take to your heart all the words with which I am warning you today, which you shall command your sons to observe [r]carefully, even all the words of this law. 47 For it is not an idle word for you; indeed it is your life. And by this word you will prolong your days in the land, [s]which you are about to cross the Jordan to [t]possess.”
  16. Galatians 5: The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions
