Is abortion a free-trip to heaven?
CaptWalker replied to CaptWalker's topic in Do you want to just ask a question?
I too believe in those being pre-destined but only God's Elect, and the rest still have free will, so don't believe in the Calvinistic views on this. But I do agree that God chooses certain people to either be aborted or dying very young because of those souls being very special to Him. But i just can't see how all those aborted babies/souls were predestined for that fate, and so they still would have to accept Christs' atonement before they are allowed to enter the Kingdom. This is mainly because of Revelation-20:8-9, which happens AFTER the millennial reign of Christ when we are all in spiritual bodies, but all those "nations" still choose to rebel with Satan at that time. It just doesn't make sense to me that God would have created so many millions of "pre-saved" souls, which is basically what the angels are, so what's the point? But guess all we can do is speculate, and i know this is not one of those essential "tenets" of Christianity which you must believe a certain way, but it's still something i feel is important enough to be brought into any discussion about abortion, even though most people just don't give it much thought, so be it. But i do agree abortion is wrong regardless. -
Well i have heard and believe it myself that all aborted babies are innocent and go to heaven, so this question is focused only on this assumption. So if this is true then what about all those babies that would have been born and lived a normal life but never accepted Christ...wouldn't they have been better off where they are at NOW?! And if so then could this actually be considered a positive aspect of abortion, or am i missing something? Such as what exactly happens to those unborn when they get to heaven, and if they are then in adult form and asked whether or not they accept or reject Christ as Savior before they are received into the Kingdom or sent to hell? It just seems kind of unfair that all those millions of aborted would get a free pass without having to go through the misery of life and make a choice to accept Christ as we do? The only other option would be that they ALL would have been saved anyway, but that would only make sense if you believed in pre-existance(which i do) and God chooses which pre-created souls will be born and which are aborted? And I am pretty sure about my own opinion but just curious about what others think, hoping to avoid the typical close-minded abortion rhetoric.

I would say it probably sounded like one of these TV preachers saying it and not God/YHVH...since i have heard plenty of sermons on this subject, mostly trying to guilt people into believeing they need to give some $$$ to these preachers ministries, or otherwise they are "lukewarm" unless they are willing to give.

Tongues and prophesying...
CaptWalker replied to CaptWalker's topic in Do you want to just ask a question?
Well i tend to agree, as far as this being the only evidence of the "Baptism" or infilling of the Spirit. Since if it were then i believe there would be MANY more who had experienced this, than just the "Charismatics", where it is probably not even a majority with them. But i would also say that i believe these are still gifts of the Spirit that some people have and use occassionally, or when it is beneficial to others. And other times i feel God can cause miracles to happen where you may be able to understand someone who is speaking in a foreign language even when others cannot. -
How do you know when it's God "calling"??
CaptWalker replied to CaptWalker's topic in Do you want to just ask a question?
Well you aren't alone as far as things suddenly turning to crap, since back in 2018 i also lost a job of over 13 years, and making about $15.50, most i have ever made. Had about $15k in savings which is pretty much all gone now, and it's only been only a couple of part-time jobs that has really bailed me out. But even though it was my own fault, when you have a drinking problem suddenly people treat you like a leper or something and want nothing to do with you, it's strange. So there went my good job reference right down the toilet, since a Violation of company policy doesn't look too good on a resume if you know what i mean? But either way i never got the feeling that is where God wanted me in the first place, but can only speculate at this point? But from everything that's happening now and feels like is about to go bad in my life again, it seems like the only real option is to pick up and go before things really do all go to CRAP! I'm just waiting for God to give me the Word and the time, don't even need a good place to go, i can figure that much out myself. But any "confirmation" does really help as far as having piece of mind that you are going in the right direction at least...but we will see. -
How do you know when it's God "calling"??
CaptWalker replied to CaptWalker's topic in Do you want to just ask a question?
Well am familiar with standing orders but strange that i've never heard it referred to that way? But as far as the Christian life it really does ALL start there, and you have to master the basics first, so to speak, before God will entrust you to do anything of much greater significance. I think that has been my main problem over the years, but feel like I'm now much more prepared to be used by God in such a way. And this whole COVID-19 business has really woken me up to how urgent things really are now and that the time is indeed very SHORT! -
How do you know when it's God "calling"??
CaptWalker replied to CaptWalker's topic in Do you want to just ask a question?
Well maybe that's not a lot by your standards but you did a whole lot better than many are doing now, and i didn't even make half that much in 2019! Besides, a true calling is not measured by how much one makes but how much impact they have on lives of others. It's just that some happen to make 100K a year while doing it, so lucky them i guess?? Either way, i have NEVER even been given a hint that i had a "calling", but somehow i always knew. Seems like people will either try to run your life or tell you how to live it, or could care less, and i probably fall into the "who cares" category, along with many others no doubt. But that's how God wants it for some of us, and it's often just a waiting game to see what we are to do exactly...and i WILL most definitely let you know if i ever figure it out myself! (As far as living the "life" in a way that is pleasing to the Father, which I do believe is very possible for anyone.) -
Was just wondering if anyone here has ever felt God calling you to do something all by yourself, and to not even expect much help doing it? Because if preaching/witnessing has anything to do with it, wouldn't we be sent out in two's just like in Luke-10:1? Since aren't those old days of the lone ranger Prophets all over and done with...?

I think some people(mostly Atheists) are always saying things like this to further discredit Christianity, as if they haven't already done or said enough to accomplish this?? Well apparently not, because they keep mentioning it, but things like this are all just excuses that unbelievers are using to justify there own stance on Faith as a whole.

Jonah's short journey??
CaptWalker replied to CaptWalker's topic in Do you want to just ask a question?
I agree with that, since a 3 days walk is about 60 miles or more depending on how many hours a day you are walking. If he went non-stop then he could have covered over 150 miles, but it's probably not very realistic. And since there are no modern waterways that connect any rivers from the sea to Nineveh, we just have to assume there was one back in those days, and i'm guessing it would have been the Tigris/Euphrates, since it was wide enough at least for a whale to swim a good ways up it. Either way maybe it doesn't seem like a big deal if you believe the story 100%, but always good to have some facts straight if you are ever debating this with an unbeliever. -
About Shepherds Chapel network?
CaptWalker replied to CaptWalker's topic in Do you want to just ask a question?
Well i would agree that serving in the Marines(which he did) doesn't automatically give you a free pass to heaven, which it seems some would even insinuate? BUT, i still would trust someone who did moreso than just some preacher off the streets or that i know nothing about, other than the reaction of those "followers" in the audience hanging on his every word, such as saying that Christ could be returning ANY DAY now...and oh btw, we do accept credit card payments for your "faith seed" offering!? And also, it sounds like what you and so many others are saying by bringing it ALL back to Christ dying on the cross is that we basically don't even need ANY of these TV preachers to tell us what it's all about, which to be honest is actually fine with me, but would only make my already dull life even that much more boring...just saying. -

CaptWalker replied to CaptWalker's topic in Do you want to just ask a question?
Yes i can understand that, and maybe it's why he almost never says it as bluntly as that because he knows most people will be put off by it. And i don't know what the manuscripts actually say but apparently he does since he knows the Hebrew language and believes that is how it should have been interpreted in the KJV. Basically all i have ever heard him say is that Eve was seduced by the serpent and Cain was the result of that, because Adam was seduced as well and then Cain was their firstborn. And then became the first murderer killing Abel. And he also often cites John 8:44-45 where Christ said, "You are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning...". So then you can say that Satan was able to so easily influence Cain to murder because he was spiritually his offspring? Either way i do see how this is hard to swallow and many people simply can't and never will, just one of those things. My mind is not yet made up, but one thing i do kind of agree with is his teachings on the anti-christ and how many Christians will be deceived by him. But also that is something that many will not even consider especially those waiting for an any moment rapture. But that's another can of worms i don't really want to open and my original question was basically answered which i had originally asked mostly out of curiosity to see how many people were actually familiar with this ministry or thought about it since it is international after all. Either way I hesitate to call someone like him a false teacher, and like he himself so often says "don't trust any man" not even himself without first checking him out in God's word. So i at least will give him credit for that. (Also he is a Korean war veteran which for me raises his credibility a bit more than it would if he were just another TV evangelist.) -

Well i would actually agree with that, and of course if one ministry has a few heretical teachings then you wouldn't try and justify it by comparing it to another that may have many more...which really goes without saying. But not sure exactly if that was your point, but as far as TV evangelists go, i suppose it would come down to what constitutes one of these individuals, or if you are on TV then you are one, period? I don't know how others see it, but as far as i'm concerned the one i was half-heartedly "defending" does not fall into this category, in the traditional sense. And HE in fact speaks out against those who are...and even though it is all about evangelism and salvation, there still must be certain truths from God's word that are taught, but apparently not being done so correctly in MANY places? -
About Shepherds Chapel network?
CaptWalker replied to CaptWalker's topic in Do you want to just ask a question?
Well as far as "trust" is concerned, someone has to pretty much earn it first, since that is how i have usually been treated as well. And since there are some stones being cast then maybe i'll just throw a few of my own. Which involve SBN channel, which has some of the absolute best Bible scholars on their shows...BUT, from what i do know anyone affiliated with this network pretty much believes 110% in the Pre-trib rapture, and a 7 year tribulation. And even though it really shouldn't surprise me that much(but it still does?) because some of the most intelligent and educated people who ever lived are in HELL right now. And one errant belief/teaching can negate everything else that a person stands for, especially something like this. And i actually sent in an email/question once on this subject and it was answered and dismissed faster than almost any other i have ever heard on this show...and THAT pretty much tells me everything i need to know, at least regarding this subject. Not that it has anything to do with my original question, but guess i just had a few "stones" of my own that i needed to throw out there...? -
He also said prophesying was GREATER than tongues(1Corinthians-14:5)...
-
Ok, and i agree with all that you said and try my best to live that way...but sometimes there is a "middle ground" that you get stuck in. And you just need a little help getting out of that and moving on, but can't recall that specific verse that says to move on to "perfection", and i know Hebrews-6:1, but was thinking about something else??

Why are these "charismatic" believers always saying that speaking in tongues is evidence of the "baptism of the Holy Spirit", but never mention prophesying? It is something i have been wondering about ever since i became a true Christian about 25 years ago, but for some reason just let it slide, and assumed that what "they" were saying was true. But i just can't get past what it says in 1st Corinthians 14:5 where Paul says that "he who prophesies is GREATER than he who speaks with tongues"(NKVJ)...so why then do "they" always emphasize the tongues but not the prophesying? And why should the average person/believer just take THEIR word for it??

About Shepherds Chapel network?
CaptWalker replied to CaptWalker's topic in Do you want to just ask a question?
Well it sounds to me as if you are a bit too overly concerned about someone like me who watches occassionally and still questions his teachings like i already said...so what gives exactly? It's not like he's begging for money like some of these TV preachers, whom i also watch just out of boredom mostly, and there are many worse things i could be watching! And no i don't really admire anyone too much if that makes you feel better? And there is nothing to FLEE from, since no one tells me what to believe, including YOU... -

Well from watching him many times i get the feeling that he actually believes these things are what the Bible teaches and not just his own opinion. And to me he has never come off as a racist and have heard him say many times that God made the races equal and He loves them ALL the same. That comes from the "6th day creation" doctrine which he claims that the Hebrew manuscripts teach, but you have to know the language or have access to these study tools in order to confirm it. And also i know about his beliefs on the rapture and those who believe in it, but have never heard him say there were not yet saved, but only that they would be deceived by the Anti-christ if they continued to believe that way. But one teaching i really kind of have an issue with is the one where those who were deceived in the tribulation will be held on the other side of paradise, basically Hell(where the rich man went in that parable) where they will be "taught" the truth during the millenium by those who overcame, and then will have a chance to repent and be welcomed back into the Kingdom. But he doesn't call it a second chance since he says,"they never had a chance to begin with, because they were never taught the truth" concerning the false rapture doctrine, even though MANY people including myself were not either but made up our own minds about it, and some have just never believed it. And I also have an issue with the 5 months(Revelation-9) which he believes is the time period that anti-christ will be here, in other words "shortened" from the 42 months. But either way i am just saying all this here because the one forum i know of that follows this ministry does not really allow questioning or insinuating that what he teaches is wrong. Because there is no reason for it when it has already been established that everything he teaches is 100% accurate, even though he himself says to check out what he is saying in God's word. Which i have done many times and still can't find a lot of it, at least not in the way he is saying it. But again you really have to watch at least a few airings to start to pick up on a lot of this and to figure out where he's coming from. And even though i do question some of it i don't agree with with what a lot of these online "critics" opinions of him are, and I personally won't accuse anyone of being a false teacher unless i have ALL the facts straight and am convinced 100%, but that is just me obviously. -
Guess i'll just throw this one out there since no one seems too interested in these type subjects in other forum sections. Which is basically if anyone is familiar with this "ministry" and their teachings, or anything else that maybe i haven't yet heard? And even though they do have their own website i still think you would actually have to listen to a full broadcast if you are not familiar with them, just to get some idea what they are all about. Either way was just curious since i have never heard them mentioned anywhere else except on Youtube and one other online forum "associated" with them?
-
Well yes it is true that he will be an "adversary of the Messiah" which anti-christ means in the Greek translation, but also the root word meaning is "instead of" or in the place of Christ, almost like he will be playing that role in the beginning and will not show his true colors until the mid-point or even later. I personally believe the real Tribulation will only last about one year,(as Christ said they would be shortened) compared to the "days of Noah" in Matthew-24 and Luke-17, when Noah was in the ark for that time period. Also the 5 months in Revelation 9:5 and those first 150 days of the flood i believe are also related. But my views on this come from a mid to post-Trib. rapture perspective, and whatever happens before then we will be here to witness. But still not necessarily seeing this person as the anti-christ, at least not enough to be convinced he is. I actually believe MANY Christians waiting for a rapture will be the very ones deceived by this world leader since he will not at all seem like the evil character he has been portrayed as by so many of these "prophecy" preachers/teachers who speak as if their own views are infallible and WILL come to pass. And some actually still believe in a 7-year hell on earth, which is something that i thought no one really believed anymore until i saw one such TV preacher mention it...WOW is all i can say!?

Well more than enough has already been said on this so i'll just say my opinion is that Revelation only speaks of the 3 1/2 years, (times time and half a time, 1260 days, 42 months). So if there is a first half of the last week yet to come, then it will be a time of peace we will likely not even recognize we are in. And if Anti-christ "confirms the covenant" then i believe it will basically be in siding with Israel and the Messianic covenant which confirms they are God's chosen people, and not some peace treaty as many think. But again this could be something we may not even realize has occurred and might not even be front page news, or maybe some under the table kind of agreement for all i know? For that matter one could even say Trump is a type of the Anti-christ because of his backing of Israel and recognizing Jerusalem as the capital and not Tel-Aviv. But i have never seriously even considered this as a possibility, but either way I sincerely do hope we are somehow already in the final week, unbeknownst to us.
