  1. One example: A man who has been the subject of conspiracy theories about the Capitol riot has been charged with disorderly conduct for his actions at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. The information filed in federal court in Washington, D.C., says Ray Epps knowingly engaged in “disorderly and disruptive conduct” on restricted federal grounds. The court scheduled an arraignment and plea agreement hearing for Wednesday. Epps has said he traveled to Washington from Arizona, attended then-President Donald Trump’s speech near the White House, and then went to the Capitol and was part of the mob on the west front of the building.
  2. January 6 was definitely an insurrection! Trump's followers stormed the Capitol in a failed effort to prevent the confirmation of Joe Biden as President. Several of the leader have already received long prison sentences for their actions. Ex-President Trump, by leading the attempted insurrection, encouraged his followers to break the law. He clearly should be disqualified under the 14th Amendment. "No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability."
  3. Great! My state needs to be protected from the oil and mineral extraction industries. They have caused enough damage as it is and have failed in their cleanup obligations.
  4. A Greek interlinear can be a useful reference, but it is no more reliable than having an anatomy textbook and claiming to be a doctor. There is not one Greek source documents; there are many. And using an interlinear doesn't make one a qualified translation scholar. As I have said many times before, source and destinations differ in many ways, including word meanings, verb tenses, idioms. etc. The goal of any translation should be to communicate to our minds what the source documents communicated to the ancient peoples. That is not an easy task. Personally, I like biblegateway.com, but BibleHub is also excellent. It is very helpful to have a good reference tool that shows the various translations and provides Scripture reference works.
  5. I couldn't find Stan Murff's post (shown in Vine Abider's post) that said... "Beware that they contain a lot more error that the KJV and they add to scripture and and take away scripture. The devil is having a field day muddying the waters of what the Lord said as this is how he operates from the start as we see in the garden of eden... always claiming God didn't say what He actually said and/or God didn't mean what He actually said." Of course I disagree entirely. Saying things like "they [modern translations] contain a lot more error that the KJV and they add to scripture and and take away scripture" is simply wrong. There is no basis for a statement like that. Translation is as much art as science, so translations will naturally differ. The KJV has errors, and if a modern translation differs, that by no mean it is wrong. Translations do not "add to scripture and take away scripture" because they are scripture. The KJV added to scripture -- the "long ending" of Mark, the story of the woman caught in adultery, and the long version of Romans" have very poor evidence for being part of scripture, since they are not found in the earliest and best sources. And saying that "the devil is having a field day muddying the waters of what the Lord said as this is how he operates from the start as we see in the garden of eden... always claiming God didn't say what He actually said and/or God didn't mean what He actually said" has no basis. He implies that the devil is motivating modern translators because their product differs from the KJV!
  6. Then why does the phrase "your sins are forgiven" appear seven times in the gospels? Matthew 9:2, Matthew 9:5, Mark 2:5, Mark 2:9, Luke 5:20, Luke 5:23, Luke 7:48 And there are more... John 20:23, "If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.” Acts 26:18, "...to open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’ " Romans 4:7, "“Blessed are those whose iniquities are forgiven and whose sins are covered ..." 1 John 2:12, "I am writing to you, little children, because your sins are forgiven on account of his name. " It's pretty clear to me that sins are forgiven. JESUS DIED ON THE CROSS SO THAT ALL SINS ARE FORGIVEN.
  7. I don't wrangle over every word in every verse either. That is the main reason that I prefer modern translations. They are clearly translated into the language that you and I and millions of others use every day. Modern English does fall under that description, which is why it is so often misunderstood and misapplied. I have no interest in the rest of your post.
  8. But the word means something different today than it did in 1611, so there is more than one definition of the same word. That is the problem. The trouble is that "perfect" meant "complete" in 1611; today it means "blameless". Job, the man, was never "perfect" (without flaws) in the modern sense. He clearly had his flaws. He was, however, blameless in the way that he lived. Why click on a word to determine its meaning? (BTW, that is a poor way of translating any 1611 word into today's English).) The Bible should be clear in its meaning! 1611 Englyshe is easy to misinterpret and give the wrong meaning to God's word.
  9. I agree totally. I would have given a rating emoji but for some reason that option isn't available to me.
  10. It is important that a word is translated so the correct meaning is retained. Job was not "perfect" in the modern sense. In 1611, it meant "complete", which is why it is translated that way in modern translations. All one has to do is to read the book of Job to realize that he was not perfect in the modern sense. Only Jesus was perfect.
  11. Forgiveness is one thing, application is another. Again, ALL SINS have been forgiven because of Christ's sacrifice. To think otherwise is a very serious error. However, the application of that forgiveness is dependent on the action of a person. Colossians 1:13-14, "For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins." Ephesians 1:7, "In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace. 1 John2:2, "He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world." John 3:16-18, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son."
  12. I agree entirely with both points. Regarding drinking, the people of Biblical times clearly drank wine. Jesus. Some times they got drunk, such Noah and the people described in Acts. John 2:7-10, "Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water”; so they filled them to the brim. Then he told them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet.” They did so, and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside 10 and said, “Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.” Clearly Jesus made the best wine!
  13. "Perfect" meant something different in 1611 than it does today. Job was not "perfect"; only Jesus was perfect. Job 1:8 is translat6ed this way in modern translations: "he is blameless and upright".
  14. a) I don't understand what you mean by "It is too late" I was born during World War II and knew people who survived Hitler's holocaust and know a woman who survived the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima. They would have had ample reason to believe what you believe, but they didn't. b) You wrote "There is nothing left for the world to do but rid itself of the trash." What do you mean by "trash"? That sound doesn't sound like something a Christian would say about other people. Even Jesus, when He was being crucified, didn't say anything like that. Instead He said "Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” Luke 23:34 c) The foundation of the United States is freedom. Who are the "hoards of demons"? And don't they have freedom of speech?
  15. Clearly you don't understand what it's like to be homeless> Try living outside for extended periods of time, not sure where your next meal is going to come from, and you might have a different attitude. Do you seriously believe that "some of these people make MUCH MORE money doing that than I do working"? What do you do for a living? Nobody chooses to be homeless! I have no idea where you came up with that but it's simply not true. Not having a roof over your head and not knowing where your next meal is coming from is not a lifestyle that anyone chooses! If you are so envious of them, why not become homeless yourself? Good shelter, good food, no taxes, good health care, etc! People work and have homes because they need money to survive and want shelter from the weather. If you're so envious, why not become homeless and live the life you suppose they live? Saying that the only reason someone doesn't work is by choice is simply wrong. Would you hire someone with no skills, no training, little to no education, etc? You make it sound like being homeless is almost paradise! If you truly it is, why not join them?
  16. "Hebrews 6:4-6 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame." I don't think it is difficult to understand. If a person has been enlightened, tasted the "heavenly gift" and has partaken of the Holy Spirit, tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the age to come, and they want more, there is nothing more that God can give them. That's the whole package!
  17. I didn't read your entire post, as reading the first part was sufficient. I couldn't disagree with you more! ALL SINS HAVE BEEN FORGIVEN BY CHRIST'S SACRIFICE. That is the basis of the New Covenant, and why sacrifices for sins committed are no longer required. Claiming that "Through Yeeshuwa` ('Jesus') all sins CAN be forgiven," but "God ONLY forgives those who have repented of their sins and turned to God for His justification" is entirely wrong! John 3:16-18 is sufficient to explain this. “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life. “Indeed, God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world but in order that the world might be saved through him. Those who believe in him are not condemned, but those who do not believe are condemned already because they have not believed in the name of the only Son of God." Ephesians 2:8-9 also states the principle: "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God— not the result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are what he has made us, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we may walk in them." Repentance is a "work"! God has forgiven those who believe in Christ's sacrifice on their behalf, otherwise it is justification by works, i.e., you must do something such as repent to earn God's forgiveness -- thereby controlling God! "He will forgive me only if I repent" is Old Covenant doctrine. Even your Englyshe quote contains these words: "To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation." In summary, forgiveness only follows repentance is false doctrine under the NEW covenant.
  18. Aside from love, marriage, and death. Why the extreme cynicism?
  19. I don't know how or why the discussion has strayed so far from the OP: Papal infallibility. Personally I have no further interest in whether a Jew is ostracized by her/his congregation. S/he is not truly dead, even if s/he is regarded as such. And as the parable clearly shows, the son being dead is not to be taken literally. I'm done discussing this side discussion.
