The way I understand this subject is Jesus returns in the air for a rapture of those already repented. The great tribulation starts or gets worse and one/many can during the Trib repent, Then Jesus returns to be on the Earth once he stands on earth it is to late. If God is up to something as you say it most likely is in Matt 24 or Luke 21. If it is not there then to figure out what God is going to do before he does it is not likely to happen.
