  1. And to think that one of the political parties wants to defund police... Lord help us.
  2. I don't think the Bible should be taught in "public" schools. Public schools should be teaching the basics of the 3 Rs and life skills to be able to get a job. How many public school teachers have the skills and discernment to teach the Bible? I think the Bible should be taught at home, church, and at schools that are founded for that specific purpose.
  3. This perspective may attempt to be noble; but, it's not the whole story. There are times when a wicked person delights in evil and should be taken outside of the city and stoned to death. Read Deuteronomy. An unrepentant person should not be given the same consideration as someone who comes to Jesus. Yes, we are to witness the Gospel so that none should be lost. Not everyone will accept the Word and that disregard is on them who refuse. There is a reason that there is a hell. Sad but true.
  4. Do you have any books that you wish would never end after you've finished reading them? All Creatures Great and Small was like that for me. It was written by James Herriot, a veterinarian in Scotland. It is about his life as an animal doctor and the many amazing experiences he had as he treated his patients.
  5. That's a great movie! It's about putting your faith into action. Most inspiring.
  6. This thread has me thinking about other words that might be mistranslated. The Bible is an inspired writing. No question about that. But what about later translations of the Hebrew and Greek...? I love to study methodology for a more complete understanding of the depth of the Bible. It's so important to pray and ask for the Truth and listen to the Holy Spirit for discernment and wisdom.
  7. That's ok Marathoner. I had issues with the church I grew up in, too. And here we are. We didn't give up on God and God didn't give up on us either.
  8. It's not how much you know but how you use what you know that makes you successful. My aspirations changed over the years. When I was preschool I remember wanting to be just like my "mommy." So, that's what I wanted to be, a mommy. As I grew older 8 or 9 years old, my mom asked me, "What is the most important thing in life?" I answered, "The most important thing in life is to always keep my good side." I wanted to be a good person. And finally, I wanted to be a survivalist. I learned another language, worked in accounting, studied animal husbandry and botany and bought a ranch. I had times of plenty and times of loss. But, I have been a survivor thanks to God's mercy and grace.
  9. The "Church" has been used historically in reference to the Catholic Church. King James I of Scotland was Catholic and William Tyndale was a Protestant Reformer. Protestant Reformers in Scotland were persecuted and had to meet secretly or risk death if found out. When they were found they were given a choice: denounce their Protestant beliefs and join the Catholic Church or die a martyr's death of execution. Many chose death.
  10. I read a lot when I was kid. When we got a set of encyclopedias, I was so excited. I thought I'll never run out of things to read about. I told my mom that I was going to read the whole set of books. Ha! That didn't last long. LOL
  11. Oh really? Well I will pray for them to know God and draw close in His arms.
  12. I am passionate about the fathers of our country, US fathers. You know they had Christian values when establishing the foundation of our country. I especially love 1776 and John Adams. What brave men willing to sacrifice life for God and country.
  13. I'd like to know why there is a microphone in the nursery playpen? Goo, goo, ga, ga...
  14. 2 Chronicles 5 At Solomon's Temple: 13The trumpeters and singers joined together to praise and thank the LORD with one voice. They lifted up their voices, accompanied by trumpets, cymbals, and musical instruments, in praise to the LORD: “For He is good; His loving devotion endures forever.” And the temple, the house of the LORD, was filled with a cloud 14so that the priests could not stand there to minister because of the cloud; for the glory of the LORD filled the house of God.
  15. There is a major gulf between the lesser of evils party and what is written on our hearts, too. The confusion and anger are just tools used by Satan to distract us from focusing on the Lord. Man is accepting depravity by degrees of delusion and disillusion. Trying to focus on the spiritual with fleshly eyes and ears is difficult when there are so many barbs coming at us. But, don't allow distractions to get in the way of God's perfect plan and our place in it. Onward Christian Soldiers!
  16. Condoleezza Rice was asked several times to run for president. Every time she was asked, she turned the invitation down. She had no interest in being president.
  17. I used to listen to Moody Bible Institute's radio presentation of Stories of Great Christians. One of my favorite biographies was on John Calvin. Another favorite was on the missionary Jim Elliott.
  18. It seems as though the world is getting smaller and smaller. We are told that there will always be the poor. We know that there will always be evil as long as this is Satan's domain. This is a testing ground. Thankfully we have the Word and Holy Spirit to guide us as to the right way to mature.
  19. I remember Katrina and Rita. I've been through hurricanes; but, I never saw such devastation as Katrina inflicted with the winds, flooding, and tornadoes. Please get to higher ground and safe shelter. We're praying for your protection and well being.
  20. Sparks, I know you addressed Jayne. I'd like to answer your exaltation question. Harris was exalted when Obama stepped in and met her and AOC behind closed doors. That was when Biden was still the Dem candidate. All of a sudden Biden had full support from almost all Dems. Doesn't that make you suspect that O told the ladies "Don't worry I, O, will still be in charge?" At the same time the baton would be passed for a future date to Harris only the first debate changed the timing. That's my speculation. Financial support came pouring in after that.
  21. There were no winners last night in the debate. No solutions were detailed and the same ol' same ol' thing blah, blah, blahed. They may have fooled themselves into thinking they adequately answered questions; but, getting emotional and angry doesn't solve a thing. It's going to be a long four years.
  22. Clouds may also be God's Devine Glory of cleansing, protection, and guidance. Thank you, Lord.
  23. Those of us who supported and volunteered for RFK were notified days ago about this. So, this announcement is more for the public if anyone outside his camp is interested.
  24. My first inclination is to ignore this; but, I will answer your question. Vine is not antagonistic with his responses. Honest yes; but, not antagonistic.
  25. Thank you VA. You are a good man.
