  1. the Matthew scripture says "age" and you are talking about "worlds." When Christ said this it was age of the law, the age to come was "grace" and it started at Pentecost. What made you decide to conclude it was life and afterlife? we may have to look this up in greek? ... 3xR0c|<stAr I stand corrected. Ages = time to come = dispensation Hebrews 1:2 says "Hebrews 1 1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds (ages); the age Christ was talking about was not a life and afterlife as Kansasdad explains. It is the world, or age, of grace. good old Strong's and companion bible usually clears up misleading information some people give. goodnight all. ... 3xR0c|<stAr Hey this is good!
  2. No, it doesn't negate, it adds to...................it adds to.......................it adds to!!!
  3. I agree scripture will never contradict itself. The problem is that you have to introject your understanding into Jesus's words to hold your position. Jesus would not have given us an example of something that was a false doctrine, or a lie, or that is contrary to his truth, just to make a point. So your conclusion that Jesus was just overstating to make a point depends on Jesus also sugesting a false doctrine to do so. I for one do not think Jesus would do this. He talks about a forgivness after death. There MUST be something to it, or Jesus would not have said it. As for the rest of your post it is all opinion and conjecture. You are also right it is better to see if other scripture supports the idea. So lets look further, CaritateDei second verse: 1 Corinthians 3:15 "If any man's work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only through fire." Again, this cannot refer to hell. No one in hell is saved. It cannot refer to heaven either, because no one in Heaven will suffer. Where does this suffering come from? A purification the soul must endure to enter heaven. Do you notice how the two verses support each other. Scripture supporting Scripture. Can anyone answer this question. Where is this suffering, this loss, this fire happening. It can't be heaven, and it can't be Hell. We define what Jesus means by other scripture.......it's that simple. If he is meaning that something else is required then it would have been defined by Paul, Peter or James and John which it was not. 1 Corinthians 3:15 "If any man's work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only through fire." This scripture is defined by itself..........the work is burned up through fire........"God is a consuming fire" 1 Cor 3:10By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as an expert builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should be careful how he builds. 11For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12If any man builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, 13his work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each man's work. 14If what he has built survives, he will receive his reward. 15If it is burned up, he will suffer loss; he himself will be saved, but only as one escaping through the flames. What is the day that brings the fire?............This scripture is easy to define...........if you as a christian have done some of your work in vain, it ain't holden up..............but to say these scriptures are talkin about a place called purgatory is ridiculas because it would have been defined all over the new test!
  4. Matthew 12:32 "Whoever says a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or the age to come." If we look at this scripture in it's context we find that jesus is talking about something so evil that he magnifies his word by saying "or the age to come." .In other words, it is so serious that your done for eternity. The problem with false doctrine is it always takes a scripture out from many to say what it wants instead of defining all scripture or being defined by other scripture. We must understand that if we use this princible for this scripture, it will define that Jesus' death was only part of salvation and his blood was almost enough which we know to be untrue All cults spawned from so called bible teaching always and I mean always add or take away from the cross. This is one way to spot out false doctrine, cult teaching and such. JWs say there is no hell. We say show us...........so they quote this scripture Ecc 9:5For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. They use this scripture to define all scripture concerning hell even though there are a bunch of scriptures that define hell as a real place. Sad.........! The Bible will never contradict itself, it will always define itself.
  5. Wow! I go to work and boom!! Ok.........do we still sin? Yes.......1 John 1:8If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 10If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives. 1 John 2:1My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense
  6. Someone asked to make another thread for this so I did. Please show us in scripture where this is and why we should pay money to the church to pray us out. My stand is that the blood of Jesus is enough to atone for sins.
  7. Purgatory is a doctrine of demons designed to take away from the atoning sacrifice of what Jesus did on the cross. It basically says that the blood isn't enough so you have to go through a cleansing before heaven. One of the kings of false doctrine.
  8. Yes sheryl, it might be stinky...........butt the earth will be saved!!!
  9. Wow!! This thread really got off subject!!
  10. Let the Lord Jesus be your best friend........he sticks closer than a brother, he is my refuge, my strong tower, my ever present help in the time of trouble, my healer, my redeemer, my life, my fortress, my abba Father and so on!! He will provide for you friends........trust him!!
  11. Nothing is wrong with it unless it is contrary to scripture. Good rule of thumb......scripture will never contradict scripture it will only define itself!!
  12. You ask a great question. The answer is that the 66 books of the Bible we now have are suffiecent but was not available yet when Paul said this. The traditions that he was talking about came by spoken word or letter. It is the letters they wrote that we now consider scripture. The word of God is enough and should be veiwed as such. Everything we hear from preachers, teachers and so on should always line up with scripture. If a tradition that has been handed down through the years does not line up with scripture, it should be counted as trash. Grace be to you , GYPC I cannot say for sure, that every thing spoken by the apostles were recorded in the bible...Just as the Gospel writers admitted that not all miracles performed by Jesus was recorded in the Gospels(which was practically not posible according to them)..So cant there be an instance where-in some of those were handed down to the early chuch leaders maybe as tradions or church constitutions? Even Paul would be pleasantly surprised by now, that most of his letters are now recorded as scriptures...But somehow, Im not convinced that those were the only ones he ever wrote or said....I guess, you see my point! Oh yes.....absolutly but whatever it is that is handed down,....... it cannot go agaisnt scripture.
  13. Proverbs 4:18 The path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, shining ever brighter till the full light of day. 19 But the way of the wicked is like deep darkness; they do not know what makes them stumble. 20 My son, pay attention to what I say; listen closely to my words. 21 Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; 22 for they are life to those who find them and health to a man's whole body. 23 Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life. 24 Put away perversity from your mouth; keep corrupt talk far from your lips. 25 Let your eyes look straight ahead, fix your gaze directly before you. 26 Make level paths for your feet and take only ways that are firm. 27 Do not swerve to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil. Guard your heart! A broken heart can turn into a bitter heart. Gal 5:16So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. 17For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want. 18But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law. 19The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. 22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. 25Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. The fruit of the Lord living inside you is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Know that this emotional roller coaster you are talking about is not a mental problem.....it's an attack from the enemy. If you are a blood bought christain you can overcome this because the greater one lives in you. I would suggest to start your overcoming of this problem by going to the throne room of God. You have access because of the blood of Jesus. Confess these things to God with a thankful heart, not a bitter one. Phil 4:6Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. It's your heart that satan is after. He attacks your heart through your mind. But if you will stand on God's word and not let any thought or imagination exalt itself above the knowledge of God, you will overcome. God is faithful and remember all things are working for your good!! Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. He's gonna bring you through this time and you will minister to many!!

  15. Hi systemstrike_7, if ya really want to know about christan jews read the whole book of Hebrews and pray that God would open it up to ya.
  16. Shalom, As we say in our home... Be prepared for the worst, and pray for the best!! Amen
  17. Isaiah 46:8 "Remember this, fix it in mind, take it to heart, you rebels. 9 Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me. 10 I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say: My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please. If this scripture is true and Jesus is not God then we need to throw away the New Test and go back to the law.......because Jesus calls himself "I Am" and look what John says... John 1:1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2He was with God in the beginning. 3Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4In him was life, and that life was the light of men. 5The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it. John 1:14The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. In Isaiah God says "there is no other"..........now if Jesus is not the God then the New Test is a lie..........but where do we get son from? John 3:16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Isaiah 9:6For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Jesus was the only one ever born on the earth that was born by the seed of God. ya see if God is going to be born on the earth then he must be born from himself. It was the only way. Look at Is 9, even here it says that this son is Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace..............wait a minute...The everlasting Father?..................but I thought God says in chapter 46 I am God, and there is no other;.............oh ok............Jesus is God!!!!
  18. I love ya'll and I love this place!!!! Yeah, mine messed up to the other day and I hit the submit button 3 times and had my post up there 3 times................had to delete when it let me!!.......and Giaour don't worry... I'm gonna smoke 40 pork butts next weekend!!!
  19. Well..........good question! But it's like asking does my dad exist. You don't know my dad, so I can't convince you but I went to his house the other day and did some work for him. I talked to my heavenly Father today...........we discussed some stuff. He wants me to do a couple of things and I said ok. If you don't know him, I won't try to convince you but I'll tell ya this.........he has invited you to a feast. So if ya want to come to the feast...........I'll tell ya how to get there or some of my brothers and sisters could tell ya....just ask them. In his love, Brian
  20. Hello, Celtic Warrior - No, you are not seeing Christians defending racism and sexism. Do you not believe in not casting the first stone? If you must insist on being judgemental and condemnatory then you should be all over Mr Imus for his actions instead of making them appear acceptable because other bigots and hypocrites are acting unacceptably. Christians who wish to be in the judgement seat should have been at the forefront in being indignant and in calling for his dismissal, not defending his actions by debating them as if the hypocrisy of others somehow makes his actions of lesser evil. Imus did not commit a crime............he just said something stupid. He asked to be forgiven and so called christian leaders are not forgiving him, instead they are pushing their unforgivness agenda. I'll bet God has forgiven you of much worse, I know he has me! Mark this.......one day hate speach will be a crime and many christains will be put in prison for their witness of Christ and his gospel.
  21. I think Jackson and Sharpton pulled themselves into it, for obvious reasons. This is what I said in another thread but it applys here also.
  22. 1 Cor 11:13Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered? 14Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him? 15But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering. 16But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God. "Judge in yourselves" "nature itself teach you" "if any man seem to be contentious" "no such custom" No commandment is given but we are to judge in ourselves. Nature teaches a system of things. But it's not worth argueing about because we have no such custom! That my friends is a grandslam in the bottem of the 9th..........there is no need to continue this debate. Paul knew the debate would happen and he gave every angle so that sisters and brothers in the Lord would not allow this issue to seperate them. It is a non essential just like the rapture debate. If we we're talking about weather or not the Blood of Jesus is enough to atone, I would stand my ground with a loud voice declaring that the Blood is enough. Long hair on a man and short hair on a woman is like eating meat and drinking wine. Would I offend the weak in faith if I said I ate a rare steak and while I was eating my long hair got in my glass of wine but I drank it anyway? I like drinking wine but Paul says I have my own home to do that in. I don't do it in public. When I lead praise and worship I put my hair up in a ponytail. It's that simple!! .........and it's time to leave this alone because no good fruit is coming out of this, only division. Is that what everyone wants? I would hope not! In his love, Brian
  23. I find it hair raising myself. Classic!!!
