  1. AMen amen, just think the sun and the moon will be replaced with light shining from him. It's going to be so amazing. What a great day it will be when we are finally free of all fears, cares, and worries. Blessed hope! Philippians 4:6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Thank you Father God for the life you have given us. Your mighty works we exalt and your plan and purpose has no mistakes. Lord, in our flesh it is so difficult not to be anxious to see you in your glory. Praise You Elohim! You are the master of all and King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Give your flock the endurance we need until your coming and may our works be glorifying to you. Thank you Jesus for giving us the hope of everlasting life with you. Pour out your peace upon your flock as we await your return and forgive me for getting anxious at times. I pray for the day when all knees will bow down before you and call out Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord. In the name of your son Jesus, I pray. Amen
  2. Jacqueline- Prophecy is still alive and well today! However, as others had stated it can be missused. If it is to lift up and bring attention only to the giver than it's wrong and not from God. I'm leary of people who travel around and label themselves as prophets. It's seems they are being placed in the light and attention is only being drawn to them. Some people are gifted in being able to see through God's eyes and can give prayerfull advise. We have several prophets at our church, but they don't go around prophesying all the time, usually only when there is a movement of the HS and there is a message for the church. A couple of our prophets also have the gift of tongue and interpretation. It's hard to explain in writing, you really have to be there as a witness. It's so humbling.
  3. Hi Carolyn, thank you so much for your prayers. I could really use them. It is difficult to see my 14 year old growing up!!! I told my son I trusted him but I just think he's too young for a girlfriend. That's when he told me I was being contradictory. I really think there are other things he should be using his time for. What do you think?? He still has a lot of years to be a kid before he grows up, right?? cindydiane I just read your thread and the first concern I had was the fact that this girl "asked him". I would really be concerned about whether or not this girl is a little pushy and too forward. Is she a christian? I'm already preparing my daughter (will be 10 in June) to not even consider dating someone who is not a christian and she totally agrees. She is also not allowed to call boys, even to ask a question about homework. It's inevitable that the genders start seeing eachother as attractive. My daughter cannot have a boyfriend now, but I do not prohibit "crushes" I don't think that 14 is too young. Pre-marriage dating will give them a good picture in what they really want in a mate. But I do not think he would be old enough to have unsupervised dates. In a couple years he could move on to group dating. That's when they can go on a date with other couples or a group of friends. Hope this helps
  4. Thanks for Sharing George. Do you get the monthly magazine from Voice of the Martyrs. Those of us living in free countries don't realize how much persecution there is out there. One of the pastor's at the church I attend just announced this past Sunday that he will be leaving in a few weeks for missionary work in Africa. Now reading that article, I definately need to get on my knees more.
  5. I've been absent for awhile from the board. Was doing some reading on bible prophecy and such. From two different books and authors they described what we are discussing here on the board. I hope I can remember enough to explain. The number of God is 7 God created the world in 6 days and rested on the seventh The number of man is 6 we fall short of the glory of God The number for Satan is 666 he is trying to claim himself equal to the trinity.
  6. Because it was an issue during his time. Basically, he's saying not to follow the crowd. Just because they are doing it, doesn't been it is right.

  8. I went to Crosswalk.com and looked up commentary notes on Mark 9:1 Here it is: 9:1 And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There are some here of them that stand [by], who shall in no wise taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God come with power1. 1. There are some here of them that stand [by], who shall in no wise taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God come with power. The mention of his final coming suggested one nearer at hand which was to be accomplished during the life of most of those present, since none but Jesus himself and Judas were to die previous to that time. The kingdom was to come and likewise the King. The former coming was literal, the latter spiritual. Those who refer this expression to the transfiguration certainly err, for no visible kingdom was established at that time. The expression refers to the kingdom which was organized and set in motion on the Pentecost which followed the resurrection of Jesus. It was set up with power, because three thousand souls were converted the first day, Acts 2:41, and many other gospel triumphs speedily followed. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Skeptic I had already answered you. I guess you need more than one to confirm. Thanks Phil for getting him straight!! Teamwork
  9. Maybe I am getting carried away but I say celibrate whenever you get the chance <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually, I'm celebrating right now... no kids in the house I had my sister's three children yesterday and they spent the night last night with us (also have three children) Actually, it was a lot of fun. My sister has my three now. oh, I also led her oldest daughter to Christ last night. What a great feeling. My sister is a single divorced mom and hasn't attended church in over five years. I've been praying for her (still am). The opportunity arrived last night and I used it. Only three of us were awake at the time since it was 1am and we just finished watching Left Behind II.

  11. Justification is defined by the RCC as: The gracious action of God which frees us from sin and communicates "the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ" (Rom 3:22 cf. 6:3-4) Justification is not only the remission of sins, but also the sanctifiction and renewal of the interior man. Through the power of the HS we take part in Christ's Passion by dying to sin, and in his Resurrection by being born to a new life; we are members of his Body which is the Church, branches grafted onto the vine which is himself. Cf. 1 Cor 12; Jn 15:1-4 The first work of the grace of the HS is conversion, effecting justification in accordance with Jesus' proclamation at the beginning of the Gospel: "Repent for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand." Mt 4:17. Justification detaches man from sin and purifies his heart of sin. Justification follows upon God's merciful inititative of offering forgiveness. It reconciles man with God- frees him from the enslavement to sin, and it heals. Justification is also the acceptance of God's righteousness through faith in Jesus Chris. Righteousness here means the rectitude of divine love. With justification, faith, hope, and charity are poured into our hearts, and obedience to the divine will is granted us. Justification has been merited for us by the Passion of Christ who offered himself on the cross as a living victim, holy and pleasing to God, and whose blood has become the instrument of atonement for the sins of all men. Justification is confered in baptism, the sacrament of fiath. It conforms us to the righteousness of God, who makes us inwardly just (righteous) by the power of his mercy. Rom 3:21-26 Justification establishes cooperation between God's grace and man's freedom. On man's part it is expressed by the assent of faith to the Word of God, which invites him to conversion, and in the cooperation of charity with the prompting of the Holy Spirit who precedes and preserves his assent. When God touches man's heart through the illumination of the Holy Spirit, man himself is not inactive while receiving that inspiration, since he could reject it; and yet, without God's grace, he cannot by his own free will move himself toward justice in God's sight. Council of Trent: DS 1525 (Denziger) Justification is the most excellent work of God's love made manifest in Christ Jesus and granted by the Holy Spirit. It is the opinion of St. Augustine that "the justification of the wicked is a greater work than the creation of heaven and earth," because "heaven and earth will pass away but the salvation and justification of the elect . . . will not pass away." St. Augustine, In Jo ev. 72, 3: PL 35,1823 He holds also that the justification of sinners surpasses the creation of the angels in justice, in that it bears witness to a greater mercy. The Holy Spirit is the master of the interior life. By giving birth to the "inner man," (Cf. Rom 7:22, Eph. 3:16) justification entails the sanctification of his whole being: Just as you once yielded your members to impurity and to greater and greater iniquity, so now yield your members to righteousness for sanctification. . . . But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the return you get is sanctification and its end, eternal life. (Rom 6:19, 22) Evangelical scholar Alister McGrath writes at the conclusion of his doctoral dissertation IUSTITIA DEI: A History of the Christian Doctrine of Justification (Cambridge Univ Press, 1986), Volume 1, Chapter 5, Section 19 -- "The significance of the Protestant distinction between -iustificatio- and -regeneratio- is that a FUNDAMENTAL DISCONTINUITY has been introduced into the western theological tradition WHERE NONE HAD EXISTED BEFORHowever, it will be clear that the medieval period was astonishingly FAITHFUL to the teaching of Augustine on the question of the nature of justification, WHERE THE REFORMERS DEPARTED FROM IT The essential feature of the Reformation doctrines of justification is that a deliberate and systematic distinction is made between JUSTIFICATION and REGENERATION. Although it must be emphasised that this distinction is purely notional, in that it is impossible to separate the two within the context of the -ordo salutis- [the order of salvation], the essential point is that a notional distinction is made WHERE NONE HAD BEEN ACKNOWLEDGED BEFORE IN THE HISTORY OF CHRISTIAN DOCTRINE. "A fundamental discontinuity was introduced into the western theological tradition WHERE NONE HAD EVER EXISTED, OR EVER BEEN CONTEMPLATED, BEFORE [my emphasis]. The Reformation understanding of the NATURE of justification -- as opposed to its mode -- must therefore be regarded as a genuine theological NOVUM." According to this Christ decieved all Christians about salvation till the 16th Century. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Smalcad- I think you really summed it up perfectly. The most important thing is not religion but faith. Every church has their own doctrine. Go to one that supports your belief and you find comfortable with. Unfortunately, some doctrine is too man made and not scriptural. I left the Catholic Church because it had too many man made rules that is not scriptural. Plus, emphasized works more than faith. I can't talk to my parents about salvation because they are too brainwashed that if they are good and believe in god they are saved. Nonesense. Faith must come first and the fruit from that faith PRODUCES THE GOOD WORKS.
  12. Yes, it is VERY complex because we have a complex Creator. None of this could have happened by chance. I have to agree with you on that one.
  13. Everyone seems to be giving Bush such a hard time. The one thing that the media doesn't consider is that New Orleans experience TWO natural disasters. First the Hurricane and then a day later, flooding compounded the first disaster. Let's all keep the people affected, relief workers, military and government in our prayers.
  14. The name Jesus was a variant of the name Joshua which is from the Hebrew name Yehoshua which meant "YAHWEH is salvation". Skeptic, I think you know who Yahweh is.... GOD HIMSELF! Immanuel means "God is with us". Therefore, it clearly shows that Jesus is God. Does this help??? Or did I confuse you even more? Keep seeking Skeptic, and I pray that soon we will be calling you "Believer"
  15. Hey catfisherman, You made a great point. Spiritual gifts can be given and taken away. Sometimes for reasons you stated but other times the Lord leads in in a different direction. Our church is collecting the members spiritual gifts so that they can lead you to the best ministy that would benefit the church. There is a special survey/test that you take and it lets you know what area you are the strongest. I found out that my spiritual gifts are mercy and giving and it can't get any closer to the truth. I'd give my last dollar to someone in need or to a worthy cause.
  16. I heard the same thing. N. O. requested money from congress to upgrade the levees and several times it was denied or reduced. Everyone wants to blame the President, but the power mainly comes from congress and the special interest groups.
  17. Thank you so much for the setiment..... I think I'm enjoying it here... so maybe I'll stay for a bit.
  18. Prophecy Today by Jimmy DeYoung As New Orleans moves into chaos a national radio talk show host says End Times are here Friday, September 02, 2005 Frustration, anger, and despair prevades New Orleans and the Gulf Coast as FEMA authorities promise help soon to arrive for thousands of people stranded without food, water, and relief. Louisiana officials are calling for thousands of National Guard and other military personnel to intervene in securing the region from looters, rapists, drug addicts, and common criminals who are hindering the search and rescue of the victims of Katrina. Meanwhile, a national talk radio host believes that the severity of hurricane Katrina is clear evidence that civilization is in the End Times described in the Bible, according to George Noory host of Coast to Coast AM. Jimmy's Prophetic Prospective on the News As heartache, despair, frustration, and chaos grows in New Orleans the statement by a national radio talk show host that the End Times are here, the scenario for the last days according to Bible prophecy does come into better focus. The category four Hurricane Katrina wreaked devastation to New Orleans, much of Southern Louisiana, the Gulf Coast of Mississippi, and areas in Alabama proclaimed the worst natural disaster to ever hit the United States. Local, state, and federal governmental leaders and agencies have had to play catch up ball from the very outset of this national tragedy. Moment by moment it seems as the nation watches the images on television reports coming from the area the despair and chaos has increased among the victims of Katrina. The horror of the criminal element and its attack on rescuers, the looting, the raping, and even murder has compounded this already catastrophic situation. What I have been describing in this report sounds like a page out of Bible prophecy for the End Times. Jesus Christ, from His prophecy message that was given on the Mount of Olives 2,000 years ago, said that in the last days there would be signs in the heavens and upon the earth, distress of nations with no way out seemingly the sea and the waves roaring, those are the words of Jesus Christ found in Luke 21:25. What has and is happening in New Orleans and the Gulf Coast of Mississippi and Alabama is evidence that the words of Jesus Christ are describing a day when Bible prophecy will be fulfilled, maybe today. ****************** Anyone ready to start flying?
  19. Its highly immature, but its the level of debate I engage with with many creationists (though not, to any real level, here). Well, thats not quite accurate. Thats what their arguments often fall back to, ad hominems. Perhaps its hard to notice for you, but so many of the arguments on this board (if not all) are logical fallacies. Ian <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ian- Since you have such a brilliant logical mind... How do you account for all the disciples that were will (and did) die for proclaiming what they saw in the empty tomb and later Jesus' appearances after death? If it was a conspiracy or fallacy as you put it, then the truth would have come out before now! Just look at the watergate scandal as an example. The truth is always revealed. Period.
  20. I can see that we would have the technology. But its about time something is being done to those perverts
  21. Awesome! I can't wait to see the rest! Thanks for considering my idea. WIll I get a percentage of your proceeds???
  22. MY ONE HUNDRETH POST I don't know if I should be celebrating or to get my tooshy off the computer
  23. Not at all. That ia why I was asking Qman about if he is against the products it's self. I see nothing wrong with them. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, my husband will be glad to hear that. He's been wanting to check them out.
