  1. that could happen. who's chuck colson?
  2. was it kind of some weird Roman death sentance thing? Like getting fed to the lions?
  3. On the other hand- if my world ever flips upside-down and someone is threatening to throw me into a big pit of poisonous snakes- I can be confident that Jesus said that the snakes would not hurt me.
  4. This is my comfort: 1 Corinthians 13:12Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
  5. last year was been so filled with prophecy, I'm still dizzy. I wonder what 2006 will hold for us?
  6. those previously mentioned scriptures are good ones. yeah, not getting bitten by a deady poisonous snake, or getting bitten by a snake and not getting sick would glorify God, because it's not naturally what would happen. But why on earth would I go do this willingly? In my heart I would say "Hey look at the power of God working though me to benifit me" A healing miracle that helps someone else is a double whammy- it glorifys God and shows someone else how great he is to them. Thats a bad explination, but get my drift?
  7. camisseat- Hi, I think together you and Jesus and do this! People try to use religeon to manipulate people into doing what they want (like your husband telling you to submit like a bully, instead of out of love) But you know what? Praise God, it is still your choice. God won't look at weather you did it or not, but look at your heart. And God will provide you with protection, and resources, and love everyday for your husband so you don't feel drained. Jesus is your strength! I'm not a marriage counseler or anything, I'm a 24 year old marrried girl who has been married only 3 years. But I know that Jesus is the answer to everything! I will be your friend! Email me! It's always your husband's choice to chose to change, but at the same time, I know prayer works. I can put my confidence in God's goodness, not my husband's character. I know that if you just make yourself accountable to God for you, and trust in Him, keep knocking and asking, (and I mean be prepared for it to take years) that God will begin to work in your relationship and you and your husband like never before. There is always hope in Jesus. Meredith PS-email me if you want!

    Satan

The sciptures that support the idea of satan as a fallen angel are: Isaiah 14:12 How you have fallen from heaven, O morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations! 13 You said in your heart, "I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of the sacred mountain. [c] 14 I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High." 15 But you are brought down to the grave, to the depths of the pit. I myself am undecided. Maybe there is more to this idea that I don't know, but it look like they are talking about the king of babylon from the text. I know Jesus said he saw satan fall from heaven, but it's the context of this chapter that's throwing me off.
  9. I wonder how many end-time ministries there are now, verses 40 years ago? Does anyone have a resource for that?
  10. I always thought it was a tablecloth!
  11. I'm no geneticist, but I thought defects and problems with babies were more likely to be attributed with LACK of genetic diversity, like brother and sister or cousins.
  12. yeah, there are still prophets and healers. Why wouldn't there be? And yes, God still talks to people. People describe how in different ways, and I'm sure through your new life in Christ he will talk with you many times. How to tell if a person of God is false or not: Listen to thier message. Don't look at how charasmatic his speech is, don't look at how loud or quiet he is. If he is preaching things consistant with the bible, then he should be accepted. Yes, there are false teachers and prophets in these last days, but I don't see anything this man did as heretical. It looks like he was using God's gift of the word of knowledge. Sometimes when the Holy Ghost come into a person, they fall down, or staggar. In Acts chapter 2, the apostales were assumed to be drunk by the onlookers.
  13. Are you asking because you heard something? I know some people try to say it's in the bible that people that are different races should get married and have kids, but it's just not. I know some people here in Missouri try to say that bi-racial people are just misreable because "they don't fit in anywhere". It not like I can speak through personal experience or anything, but , life is always worth living.
  14. Satan at least had to have some degree of control. How else could he tempt Jesus with authority over the world? Matthew 4:8Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. 9"All this I will give you," he said, "if you will bow down and worship me." But then later in the gospel, Jesus says all authority has been given to me"...So... I don't know. The devil is certainly not running wild, like a lose dog with no one to control him. In the old testement the devil apparently had to ask for permission to hurt Job. chapter 1. I think if I knew when the devil fell from heaven then I could answer you better- Revelations 12:7 And there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. 8But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven. 9The great dragon was hurled down
  15. i started an thread earlier that kind of got off topic, but was kind of realted to this. I pointed out that in Judges Sampson's parents had a visit like this, and they said "we have seen God" (Judges 13) -And when Hagar ran away, she was comforted by God: Genisis 16:13 She gave this name to the LORD who spoke to her: "You are the God who sees me," for she said, "I have now seen [c] the One who sees me." Don't let people twist this one: she saw Him! -And Jacob was impressed that his life was spared after the famous wrestling visit: Gensis 32:28 Then the man said, "Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel, [e] because you have struggled with God and with men and have overcome." 29 Jacob said, "Please tell me your name." But he replied, "Why do you ask my name?" Then he blessed him there. 30 So Jacob called the place Peniel, [f] saying, "It is because I saw God face to face, and yet my life was spared." I know what his name was! Jesus!
  16. I got showed this just a month ago, actually. Threw my idea of God threw a loop, but apperently I needed it.
  17. I know we don't need to know if there names are bob or frank or whatever, but sometimes in the Bible the person who is telling the demon he has to leave calls it by how it afflics the person: Luke 5:6When he saw Jesus from a distance, he ran and fell on his knees in front of him. 7He shouted at the top of his voice, "What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? Swear to God that you won't torture me!" 8For Jesus had said to him, "Come out of this man, you evil spirit!" 9Then Jesus asked him, "What is your name?" "My name is Legion," he replied, "for we are many." 10And he begged Jesus again and again not to send them out of the area. No, Legion wasn't what his mom called him, like my mom calls me Meredith. The spirit said "because we are many" A legion of soldiers, see? Luke 9:25When Jesus saw that a crowd was running to the scene, he rebuked the evil[a] spirit. "You deaf and mute spirit," he said, "I command you, come out of him and never enter him again." 26The spirit shrieked, convulsed him violently and came out. The boy looked so much like a corpse that many said, "He's dead." 27But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him to his feet, and he stood up. I don't understand why God calls it a "deaf and mute spirit" here. This kid was having seizures, right? He didn't say this to the the deaf and nearly mute man 2 chapters ago who had an evil spirit. But I don't think there is enough scriptual evidence that you have to know something about the demon- he serves the father of lies anyway. Acts 16:16Once when we were going to the place of prayer, we were met by a slave girl who had a spirit by which she predicted the future. She earned a great deal of money for her owners by fortune-telling. 17This girl followed Paul and the rest of us, shouting, "These men are servants of the Most High God, who are telling you the way to be saved." 18She kept this up for many days. Finally Paul became so troubled that he turned around and said to the spirit, "In the name of Jesus Christ I command you to come out of her!" At that moment the spirit left her. So here nobody cared to ask the name of the spirt, or what it did. It was apparently enough to tell it to leave in the name of Jesus, just like all the other examples in the Bible Colors? That is weird. Yeah, there's an result of people being too focused on the power of God than God himself. I'm from America and if I see them, I'll tell them for you, yomo.
  18. Yes, most of the Bible examples illustrate the laying hands on the person who is the recieve Him. Here is an example of when they did not: Acts 10: 44While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message. 45The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on the Gentiles. 46For they heard them speaking in tongues and praising God. Then Peter said, 47"Can anyone keep these people from being baptized with water? They have received the Holy Spirit just as we have." 48So he ordered that they be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked Peter to stay with them for a few days. Yes, I can definetly tell a difference in my walk with God before and after I got filled with his Spirit. I mean, I still sin, and I still goof up and procrastinate, but there is a power to it, and as long as I don't seperate myself from Christ, I can resist temption more, I can witness, and people actually listen sometimes, and I find myself more zelous for Jesus. Yes, I would totally recommend you ask people to do this with you. I suppose you could recieve him by yourself, but you will then have questions about tounges, and how to do this or that. You will need your christian family around you to show you the ropes. And there will be no question in your mind if you have recieved Him or not. If you didn't sense anything, even if people around you are saying you did, listen to God, because you will know for sure if you did or did not.
  19. And if you would like to find out how grusome christian persecution is in some countries, ask the Voice of the Martyrs, or International Christian Concern. You'll find out that just because it's modern-times, we are not as civilized as we like to think. actually less, in my opinion.
  20. Dood-And telling people flat out is so the most loving thing to do! It doesn't mean your prideful, people gotta know 14How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!"[g] 16But not all the Israelites accepted the good news. For Isaiah says, "Lord, who has believed our message?"[h] 17Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ
  21. Whoa dood! No christian persecution? Then how do you explain the present persecution of the South Chinese church? And the christians in India, and in almost every Islamic nation? And the christians under communism? And the christians in early rome? And the christians in Africa, who live near the muslims? The world hates the truth! And this is what we have to speak. You've never even seen someone excluded, or brushed off, or picked last, because of thier testimony? I mean, I'm from Missouri, were nothing ever happens, and I've even seen that level of persecution!
  22. I just assumed that the poll was what I believed the most closely with presently. Now I am more likely to agree with a pentacostal statement of faith, even though I still hold membership with a methodist church. I didn't know if that would factor in with your paper.
  23. Huh! I always thought that it meant that you set people on fire for Jesus. What did those poor little marshmallows ever do to you?! Hee hee. Maybe there is a greek word for arsonist? Or one who starts fires, one who starts things?... Maybe look at the new testement greek words describing God as a consuming fire... and then change it to refer to a person. Just some ideas. Make sure I know who you are now, I get people mixed up so easy!
  24. Have you talked to your doctor about fasting? He might have some good advice from a medical standpoint. Sorry, I don't know much about heart burn.
  25. what's a protestant work ethic?
