  1. 2.50 a gallon here. I used fill up for under 30 dollars, today it was 37. Yep it goes up 10 cents and then they "do us a favor" and drop it a penny. I know the Europeans are wondering what the deal is...........they've been paying 3 dollars or more for a while.
  2. My hobbies: Woodworking, reading, sports. That sums it up.
  3. I live in southern Minnesota. We have Cabela's, healing spring water, and the largest free county fair in the state.
  4. I could probably post a couple of links of letters from people who have attended the screenings, but I won't. Not sure if I could do it anyway. Everything I have read or heard about this movie says "go". I have posted a link in the Sports/ Nascar thread which may interest you folks. I believe we are planning on seeing it on Sat/Sun Feb 28/29. I have heard that Mel has deleated the scene where the people cry out, "Let his blood be on our hands, and on our decendants.", so the movie does not appear to be Anti-Semitic.
  5. Janet will not perform at the Grammy ceremony. Official word is that the guy she is suppose to sing a tribute to will not be there because of a stroke, so she will not be needed. Justin claims he was shocked and did everything he could to cover up. Now, does anybody realize that the wording of the song indicated that the purpose was to "have her naked at the end"? This should indicate to all parents that MTV should not be allowed in the house. (We tried has hard as we could to keep it out)
  6. Yep Janet admitted it was done on purpose. She is a Jackson after all. The FCC wants to level the maximum fine....$27,500. Now we know that is pockect change for CBS, and it isn't going to enrich the coffers of the FCC. I heard from two different sources that the FCC wants to levy this fine against EVERY CBS STATION IN THE NATION. GO FCC.
  7. After reading all your wonder and intellectual postings, it really comes down to this. YOU DON"T KNOW, I DON'T KNOW. We'll find out when we get to heaven.
  8. I got an email from my daughter's mother-in-law about the film. She enclosed some letters written by those who viewed the film in Nashville. The place was full of country music and Christian artists. The result according to the letters were the same as in Washington. Not a dry eye in the place. Mel Gibson himself was there to answer questions and to give insights to what happened during the filming. I believe this is a must see movie. Since Hollywood has spurned the movie, it is up to us to make sure that it is seen. It opens Feb 25th. Mel has sunk 35 million of his own money into this project. I don't think he cares if it is a financial success, but I think we could help him some by showing our support by seeing this film.
  9. I remember my daughter used to date a guy from a very conservative college. They couldn't go to movies, couldn't go to dances, couldn't play cards. All these were "sins". So what happened? He abused my daughter, using Biblical verses to convince her of how it was okay.
  10. Well now Adstar, I can see you would not be the type of person I would want on the battlefield with me. I would want someone to have some sand to share my position. You seem to forget that God used war to do his bidding. I know, you're going to say that was OT and during the time of the law, not grace. Now the Israelites did not always obey God's command to kill every living thing during those battles. See what kind of problems they ended up with now? Yep, some of the present day Arabs that are bothering Israel are decendants of those tribes. I wonder what your opinion is of politics and governments is. Could you enlighten me?
  11. Okay, if God is the One Who Save Me, then it is God who saves me, I cannot save myself. If I can do something which will "unsave" me, then salvation is up to me, I can save myself if I can "unsave" myself. Once God has me in the Palm of His Hand, I don't think I can be the one to let go. God did not say he will save me as long as I walk the thin line. He said He would forgive me of my sins and grant me (get this ) ETERNAL life. Eternal is Eternal, so what's the problem? You want to be your own God and say that you can undo what God has done? I think that is the result of pride.
  12. I can honestly say that if it wasn't for my time in the Army, I would not be a Christian today. Yep, that's right, this is not a misprint. I was led to the Lord by a fellow soldier while I was stationed at Ft. Carson. True, most of the military is non-glamorous. It's dirty, boring, and quite tiresome. It stretches you to your limits at times. I am a 3 year veteran of the US Army and I also spent over 17 years in the National Guard in Minnesota. I retired 10 years ago. My former unit is now on active duty in Germany training for Kosovo. I support the troops and the Commander-in-Chief. Remember God gave His authority to the Governments.
  13. Been there , done that. Is Iraq covered under the Geneva Convention? Not all nations are. I think our troops learned from Viet Nam. Sure I know, someone is going to bring up Lt. Calley now. However, the troops looked relaxed after the shooting, there was no camera on them during so you don't know what they looked like. The liberal press does all sorts of doctoring of tapes, mostly to make us and the present administration look bad.
  14. As one of the Nascarians, I guess I really take the stand behind our President. I truly believe that Al Gore would have apologized to the terrorists families for our buildings being in the way of the planes, Sadam would still be terrorizing Iraq and threatening the world, and I even hate to think of the abortion issue. Remember Romans 13:1. PS. Trav.......I'd vote for Blue, if only for the bow tie.
  15. Hey Pam.....I think he can "pin" the message......that way it stays at the top.
  16. Okay........now I know that it is NOT my computer........................
  17. Now this is a paragraph about Biblical characters. This paragraph can be very easy for some, or it can be very difficult for others. You must find all the words, or elSE THe game will nEVEr end. This can be a tough JOB, but it might be a piece of cake. If you complete it, reMARKable! If not, too bad. Be tRUTHful. You know you won't finish this in 5 minutes. The end.
  18. Let me get this straight. Only God can save me through my faith in Jesus Christ. BUT I can unsave myself which makes me better, more powerful than God because I can undo what God has done. Puts me in a mighty high position right?
  19. Grace= God's Riches At Christ's Expense. I know that's too simple, but then so is alot of things that we have to make very complicated to appease ourselves.
  20. Welcome BlessEwe I have been here for about 2 years now, and although I don't contribute very regularily, I do enjoy this board. I hope you enjoy it herer as well :t3:
  21. I've read the entire "O'Malley" series by Dee Henderson. I've also read books bye Francine Rivers, Jeanette Oake, Lori Wick, Max Lucado, Al Lacy, Lorraine Snelling (very good about early settlers in the North Dakota prairie) Phillip Yancey, Chuck Swindoll, and both Billy and Franklin Graham. I guess I'm a reading junkie.
  22. My wife of 32 years and I met on a blind date set up by my sister. We met in Dec '69 and got married in Aug '70.
  23. If I want to really confuse someone, I read from the KJV. If I want to be clear and consice, I read from one of the modern versions, like the NIV, the NLT, or the New Century.
  24. If you wonder if your church is a Bible teaching, Bible preaching church, give the following tests: 1. Sit outside and watch how many of the people carry Bibles to church. 2. Are the sermons based on a Bible text or the latest headlines in the news. 3. Ask the pastor or a teacher a doctrinal question. Do they start their answers with "The Bible teaches........" 4. Does the Pastor encourage you to study the Scripture texts on your own and encourage you to pray to the Holy Spirit for guidance? Some simple things to watch for when your are looking for a Bible believing, Bible teaching church.
