  1. Look at what the Apostle Paul went through even though he was always following God. 2 Corinthians 11:23-31 23Are they servants of Christ? (I am out of my mind to talk like this.) I am more. I have worked much harder, been in prison more frequently, been flogged more severely, and been exposed to death again and again. 24Five times I received from the Jews the forty lashes minus one. 25Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was stoned, three times I was shipwrecked, I spent a night and a day in the open sea, 26I have been constantly on the move. I have been in danger from rivers, in danger from bandits, in danger from my own countrymen, in danger from Gentiles; in danger in the city, in danger in the country, in danger at sea; and in danger from false brothers. 27I have labored and toiled and have often gone without sleep; I have known hunger and thirst and have often gone without food; I have been cold and naked. 28Besides everything else, I face daily the pressure of my concern for all the churches. 29Who is weak, and I do not feel weak? Who is led into sin, and I do not inwardly burn? 30If I must boast, I will boast of the things that show my weakness. 31The God and Father of the Lord Jesus, who is to be praised forever, knows that I am not lying. Humans will always let you down, that is why you should rest in and fully trust God. Psalm 118:8 It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in man.
  2. He has always been pro-Roman Catholic if that matters to anyone.
  3. What I was trying to say is that the Jews rejected their Messiah and thus when they translate their versions of Scriptures, they would try and word the prophecies about the Messiah so that people wouldn't read Jesus son of Joseph of Nazareth. Does that make sense?
  4. It is not that there are different books, it is that the books retain the Hebrew names for the books. They are the same books. I suggest purchasing the book at any rate anyways. It isn't like you should reject the apocryphal books as interesting reading. Sure, they aren't inspired Scriptures, but they are probably interesting reading.
  5. I have a copy of it. This is a great study tool. My copy has a different cover, but the content is the same. It is interesting to read the Scriptures from a slightly different perspective. Sometimes I think that the Christian translations sort of give a bit of added emphasis on the prophecies concerning the coming Messiah in the OT. And I feel like this may try and "hide" them a bit. Put them together and maybe have a meet in the middle. This may be untrue - it is merely a thought I have had. I also have a copy of this: http://www.messianicjewish.net/jntp/comple...wish-bible.html Extremely great read. It uses Jewish names for people and cities. It is a Messianic Jew who did his own translation of the Scriptures and includes the Christian New Testament.

  7. Wait! Yes! Think about it. Most of our kids go to public (government) schools where the agenda is harshly liberal and they spend over 40 hours being indoctrinated with evolution (which they of course never mention God). They hear that we are only a cosmic burp of an accident. Life evolved by accident and we are actually part of the problem with the planet because of the so-called global warming. They have a lesser view of themselves and other humans. So it naturally follows that they have no respect for rules because they are only human thoughts brought out by society. Understand my thoughts here?
  8. Many of our social problems are because our government is indoctrinating our children from the time they enter kindergarten that there is no God and they evolved from an accident. Yes, I blame evolution! If you think about it - you will probably agree.
  9. There is no simple way to describe the differences between all baptist denominations. There are anabaptists, bapticostals, southern baptists, independent baptists, fundamental baptists, primitive baptists, primitive baptist church of christ (yes, there is one in Alphretta, GA), and many other baptist denominations. The best way to find out about the specific church is to look up their website if they have one and then go to the church office and speak with someone on what they believe. If you feel they are very open about their beliefs and you agree with them, prayerfully consider attending/joining. If you feel they seem to be hiding something, steer clear!
  10. Missouri Arkansa Virginia West Virginia North Carolina New York Pennsylvania Washington I grew up in Missouri (STL) and have visited North Carolina and Arkansas on your list. I like NC pretty good, but AR would be a stretch for me. My mother did grow up in Little Rock for a few years though. And she now lives close to the AR border on Table Rock Lake.
  11. Back to on topic. My wife says that she has dropped from a size 16 to a size 6. And she has been working out on average of 6-12 times a week. She ran the peachtree road race which is a 10K (6.2 miles) and did it in 73 minutes. That is pretty good!
  12. You both joined the forums the same exact day! I know what Carol is talking about and I was wondering the same thing.
  13. Good points. I shall soon make a thread about proper foods to eat.
  14. God created the earth covered with water, that is not a flood - it is part of how God created the earth. I also might add that you quote the Bible to show a flood before man's arrival and forget that the sun and stars were not created until later. You can't have billions/millions/thousands of years of earth history before the sun is even created.
  15. I need a new favorite state in the Union. It must be a nice mountainous state - any ideas?
  16. My bride has lost 50 pounds in the past year. I am very proud of her!
  17. The Bible is clear that our bodies are a temple of God. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body. We only have one body and we should take care of it. That means that we as Christians should have no physical addictions (be it alcohol, tobacco or any other drug, food, etc.). And we should be fit as far as it is possible. My lovely bride had gained a few extra pounds after 4+ years of marriage and became convicted about it and decided to do something about it. Here are the photos: (before) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v253/DIM...ies/2006158.jpg (during - current as of July 4) http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3183/264107...938e2c4.jpg?v=0 You can do it! Keisha did and she looks awesome!
  18. This is the verse that came to mind for me. 1 Timothy 5:7-8 7Give the people these instructions, too, so that no one may be open to blame. 8If anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for his immediate family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
  19. I think it is safe to assume that both are given. It certainly limits the order by logic. For example:
  20. You are correct that the Bible is not a science book, but when the Bible deals with scientific issues, it should be accurate if it is given by the God who created the earth. In other words, if the Bible is correct that God created the entire universe, He should know how it operates and when He chooses to reveal little tidbits of scientific evidence, it should be completely accurate. Do we have agreement on this point? Now on to your main point. No one would argue that the sun "rises" and "sets" because we all know that it is merely common in our culture to refer to it as such because we all understand what is meant by it and are not speaking in scientific detail. It would be funny if we watched a nice sunrise in the mountains and said, "That was an awesome partial earth rotation!"
  21. The Bible also teaches that God made man out of the dust of the ground and made woman from the side of man. Evolution teaches that man and woman evolved side-by-side over millions of years. These two could not be more opposite, yet many Christians accept man's word over God's.
  22. The current theory of human origins in the secular culture is atheistic evolution. Please correct me where I am incorrect, but it teaches: 1. Big Bang where everything that exists exploded and all matter scattered out 2. Heavenly bodies began to form, which resulted in stars and later planets 3. Our earth cooled down from a hot rocky mass and eventually it started raining on the rocks and after time, simple life formed 4. Life became more complex and crawled out of the oceans and changed over time until man The Bible could not contradict this teaching any more than it does. 1. God created earth before the sun 2. God created the earth covered in water 3. God created man and dinosaurs the same day (day 6) 4. God created plants, animals, and man with different kinds of flesh, all designed to reproduce after their kinds. I could use other examples to show how the Bible and the theory of evolution are at odds, but this should suffice. We all have a decision to make. Do we accept God's word as the authority in our lives and abandon man's teachings, or do we continue to compromise the Bible and say, "yes, the origin part of the Bible is wrong, but you should trust the morality anyways." Think of it like this - if we tell the young people growing up that God was wrong when He told us about creation (or He purposely hid the truth in the gap theory or other theories), what is to stop them from abandoning the rest of the Bible as wrong? Look at Europe for an example of what happens when you unlock that door!
