  1. Well I guess we have something in common trav! I also liked She-Ra, Princess of Power! HA! Of course nowadays, my hero is quite different
  2. I agree- and what in the world would you do with it when you get it? Stare at it?
  3. My very first hero was Wonder Woman
  4. Ah. I must inquire however the possibility of more than one god, as as far as I know in the ten commandments it just said something along the lines of thou shalt have no other gods before me, as if to say, you can have other gods...just...hes the best one. Am I wrong? God did say to have no other gods before Him. It means that anything that is more important than Him is like a "god"- when it starts to take the focus off our Father- HE should be the 1# priority 100% of the time. I hope that makes sense- I'm getting sleepy
  5. "Evermore" by Hillsong With all my heart I'll say I'm living for your name With all to give you praise We're living for your glory Lord Lost for words with all to say Lord you take my breath away Still my soul, my soul cries out For you are holy And as I look upon your name Circumstances fade away Now your glory steals my heart You are holy You are holy Lord Evermore my heart, my heart will say Above all, I live for your glory Even if my world falls I will say Above all, I live for your glory
  6. Bump- we need more encouragement folks!!
  7. Great ideas given- but might I add- it's nice to pick up a little something for the mom. Like maybe a gift basket of lotions, or something like that? From what I hear, the mom gets neglected when it comes to the gift receiving! However, I wouldn't know- I'm not a mommy!

    Am I saved?

And johnP- let me also add this: "You have today declared the LORD to be your God, and that you would walk in His ways and keep His statutes, His commandments and His ordinances, and listen to His voice. Deuteronomy 26:17 Let's examine 2 words in their Hebrew definition: Way= a course of life or mode of action, custom, journey, manner, conversation Walking in His Way is NOT a one-time thing- it is a journey, a course of life Listen= to hear intelligently (often with implication of attention and obediance), be content, obey, understand. To listen to His Voice is to OBEY His Voice- again, this is not a one time thing. It's a way of life.

    Am I saved?

You are saying that a Christian can be lost by using 2 Peter 2:20. Am I wrong? I asked how you can believe that in the light of John 6:43 where Jesus says, "No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day. johnp. Hey johnP Yes, in 2 Peter 2:20, the Word says it's better to have not known the truth, as it continues to say the the following verse: 2 Peter 2 21It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than to have known it and then to turn their backs on the sacred command that was passed on to them. And in John 6:44 and the verse therafter, Jesus is referring to Him being the Way to the Heavenly Father- I'm still trying to figure out what is has to do with OSAS.... Now let me add: John 10 27My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. Now this is a classic argument pro-OSAS believers use to support their lie (verse 28). Now let's take a look at verse 27: 27My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. His sheep know His voice and follow His statutes. And see the second part? AND THEY FOLLOW ME. Alot (not the on-fire Christian) of OSAS believers lead a complacent life- do they follow Jesus? Nope. To follow Him means to die to self and make HIM ruler of your life- not just on Sundays. Now back to the verses, in order to be guaranteed "no one can snatch them", they must be a TRUE believer to begin with. They must follow Jesus in all they do. It doesn't make for a works based faith nor does it lessen God's Grace---- when we hit the TRUE point of conversion- (which in my case, it case almost 20 years later) we DESIRE to live for God- we make Him RULER of our life- and EVERYTHING revolves around the One who saved us. We have the option of walking away- I did. It wasn't until March 1st that I had a TRUE conversion experience. When you are born again, you have the desire to do His Will. Nothing becomes repetitious just to keep the salvation alive (I'm referring to works). God does not like lukewarm Christians- you either on fire- or you're not- simple as that.

    Am I saved?

Trying to figure out what you're getting at here Jesus is referring to Himself as the bread of Life in this passage

    Am I saved?

The verse's "address" you quoted was incorrect for the verse you want me to explain- it's 6:44, not 6:43. But, I looked up 6:43 and I thought I'd share what it says: "Stop grumbling among yourselves," Jesus answered. John 6:43 Something to think about... for all of us, not just you
  12. 1Jonh 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness If we only confess our sins (like my pastor is always saying) it would be enough. But what good does it do to only confess them? And I'm not arguing with scripture here, just the statement made by your preacher- does he believe in once saved always saved? Not trying to hijack the thread to another OSAS debate- definitely not my intention- I'm just curious
  13. To be honest with you Super Jew, I didn't even read the whole article. Once I saw "flanked by Rev Jesse Jackson" I KNEW it was bad! Seriously though, Jackson and Kerry need Jesus!

    Am I saved?

These verses speak volumes: Hebrews 6:4-8 It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age, if they fall away, to be brought back to repentance, because to their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace. Land that drinks in the rain often falling on it and that produces a crop useful to those for whom it is farmed receives the blessing of God. But land that produces thorns and thistles is worthless and is in danger of being cursed. In the end it will be burned.

If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left Hebrews 10:26 But anyone who sins defiantly, whether native-born or alien, blasphemes the LORD , and that person must be cut off from his people. Numbers 15:30 If they have escaped the corruption of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and are again entangled in it and overcome, they are worse off at the end than they were at the beginning. 2 Peter 2:20
  16. That's awesome George! God is so Worthy of our reverence and adoration
  17. Good thread Marilyn When I get spiritual advice from one of my best friends, he cannot take the compliment! He always gives credit to God- he consistently recognizes the Giver. It's all about GOD- our Wonderful Counselor

    Am I saved?

Exactly bro. God has no pleasure in those who turn away. Jesus taught that many would fall way from the faith in the Last days. Be strong and endure in the Grace of God. God bless, Revelation 3:16 So, because you are lukewarm--neither hot nor cold--I am about to spit you out of my mouth.
  19. 1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. I mentioned this verse in another thread and I find it relevant here- it really is a fantastic verse, since we face temptation everyday. We are nothing without Him. God wants us to trust Him completely, in all aspects of our lives. Have you ever tried to run your life on your own terms? I have, and it's not pretty. God gives me the strength and guidance I need to live a life pleasing to Him. Why should we attempt to face difficulities without Him? It says in the Word that He'll never leave us, nor forsake us. We should take God at His Word. He is faithful and just. :il:
  20. Maybe because we have so many distractions in America- TV, internet :x: , etc.? We are not always tuned into the spiritual battle at hand. Not to mention, alot of denominations do not talk about any type of spiritual warfare!
  21. Great thread Michael- thank you for sharing I will be praying for you as well- God bless you brother! Love in Him- Shannon
