  1. Shalom, Exactly. We cannot "lose" our salvation, nor can it be taken from us. BUT, since we have the choice to accept the salvation in the first place, we also have the choice to renounce it. If we do, then we are no longer abiding in Yeshua and we are not of the household of "faith" and as such are broken off the tree. (Romans 11).
  2. Shalom senerhu, I say this with all gentleness and love. Why does it bother you? Please ask yourself that. Should you judge someone else's walk with the L-rd, or your own? You "felt it was wrong"? Something you should consider is that it is not your place to decide how another Believer relates to G-d. Instead of asking with an open mind, you wrongly assumed it was wrong and asked why it was allowed here. That is a shame. No, it is not "irreverence" for G-d's Name, it is the opposite. Yet, as this thread clearly shows, Believers are ready to jump on someone who is different than themselves, without knowing anything about the person, their motives or the actions. THIS is what is wrong - quick to judge and criticize, rather than ask and give the benefit of the doubt to G-d's children. The Bible speaks against this type of judging. As a born-again Jew, writing as I do is a consideration to the Jewish people I minister to and also as a way of reverencing G-d myself. You may consider that Paul too approached witnessing to the Jews in ways NOT to offend them. These are unsaved people and they need to hear the message, not be offended at how it's delivered. This is actually done in consideration of the unsaved people who would be offended. As for "making it simple"? According to whose parameters? Yours? Do you get to decide, or does G-d? In MY family and my circle of friends and those I seek to minister to, it would be considered very rude and irreverent to write G-d with the vowels, so the simplest thing for me is to do as I am led by G-d and my convictions, not as other people dictate who have no right to demand it. Do you think that there are only those in the Body who do not understand writing G-d this way? If so, you are mistaken. Many do write this way and are happy to explain when asked graciously why they do as they do. But, some others still judge first and ask questions later and THIS is wrong. As for the King James, ummmm, there are more translations than one. And for the Body of Messiah, not everyone looks, thinks, acts or speaks the same. THAT is wrong to demand that we all do. You want everyone to fit in nice little boxes and all look the same? You mean, look like you? That is pride and that is a sin. And no, we don't and we won't. In one of MY Bibles, all the names are in Hebrew. And G-d is not used, but "Adonai" is. You should consider Paul's words:
  3. Shalom, If you'd like to ask some specific questions about Hebrew Roots, I'm happy to answer. As to your other thoughts, they might be better placed in other topics as they don't relate to Hebrew Roots specifically.
  4. Shalom Y'all! I wanted to share Shabbat blessings with all of you! May your Shabbat be blessed and filled with the presence of Yeshua, the Messiah.
  5. Shalom Emily~Anne, Heya Sis!! Hugs and hugs!!! I added you too. Welcome back!
  6. Shalom Irene, My kids did not watch Smurfs either. However, you keep saying what you believe is right for YOU and your household That's great!! The rub comes in when you want to apply your standards to everyone else. In the area of personal convictions, we must seek the L-rd and know what is acceptable for us. What is fine for me, may not be for someone else. There are lots of good shows on TV. Our family enjoys movies and some family shows. Maybe your family wouldn't like what we watch, but you know, if you ever came to our home, we would be considerate of your convictions and not put anything on that would offend you or make you stumble. That's where we each should be. Not telling others what's right for them. This is an area of subjectivity on what shows are OK or not.
  7. Shalom Redeemed, I disagree. Jesus was the Son of Man and as such He knew the painful, horrible things that were gong to happen to Him. And as the Son of G-d, He COULD have changed all that. The Scriptures say that He was "troubled", "distressed" and he "sorrowed." I believe that He did NOT want to die on the Cross at that moment as the Son of Man, as He plainly asks the Father to remove the cup. BUT, as the Son of G-d, He submits to the Father's will and chooses to give up His life rather than to have His own will. I believe He was definitely talking about what was coming next, the beatings, the scourging and the painful, horrific death. Thank you Jesus that you chose to surrender Your will to the Father's, for us!!
  8. Shalom PA, What a timely post. I am actually teaching on the Garden of Gethsemane tonight. There is a WHOLE life lesson in the verse that says: Matthew 26 39And going a little farther he fell on his face and prayed, saying, "My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will." When I was in the hospital dying of Leukemia and I looked in the faces of my husband and 4 children, the youngest who was just 4 at the time, I prayed that prayer - with one difference - I could ONLY pray the first part. I could not let go of my life and pray the second part, where Jesus submits to the Father's will and gives up His life. We might think we know how we would react if it were US faced with these situations, but until we actually ARE, we don't know. I won't share my whole teaching here, but suffice it to say that I did get to the place where I could honestly pray the second part of Jesus' prayer... "nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will." We might all pray that we could and would do that when actually faced with death.
  9. Shalom Y'all! WOW, I take a break from Worthy and come back to the same ol' stuff! Hey Marn, I hear where you are coming from and FWIW, this time I agree with you! Can you believe it???? Marnie said it best... WHO decides what is "enough" for everyone? You? Me? IOW, YOU answer to the L-rd for what YOU do and watch and let your children watch, you are not in a position to make it applicable for anyone else. It is not "sin", it is conviction. Artemus, don't get frustrated, your posts are making an impact! Personally, I love all the crime shows, CSI (all 3), Law and Order, Numbers etc. My children aren't allowed to watch them, but it's not sin for me to. If you believe it is, you are wrong. So there!
  10. Shalom, I believe Smalcald answered the answer that matters. It's not important whether a woman augments her breasts, but rather what is her heart motivation? If it is to be more "sexy" or more attractive to men, well, then I would be concerned. If it is however for other reasons (there are several) then it's not as negative. I know Christian women who had gastric bypass surgery, then a tummy tuck (for the hangy skin after the weight loss), then breast surgery to reverse the gravity(not augmentation, but lifting). I know Christian women who have had face lifts, dye their hair, wear lots of makeup etc. Basically, I don't see any difference. What is the question is WHY is the woman doing this? That is only something she and Jesus can answer (not even her hubby can) and it's not something we should judge in another.
  11. Shalom, Jesus was and is in fact G-d the Son and if anyone desires to be saved, they must believe on Him as the Messiah. Romans 10: 9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. 11For the Scripture says, "Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame." 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him. 13For "everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
  12. Shalom Neb, Actually, the Scriptures are correct and there are no examples of born-again Christians being indwelt by demons. Consider this, there are NO Scriptural examples of born-again Christians having demons needing to be cast out. When Jesus is invited into someone's life and the Holy Spirit moves in, demons move out.
  13. Shalom Josh, I don't believe there is any such REAL thing according to the Scriptures. That's not one of the offices or gifts that I see in the Scriptures. I believe that is man's idea, not G-d's. Again, since I do not believe it is a Scriptural thing, but a man-thing, I believe these people should get back to the Scriptures and stop all the psycho-demon-babble and place their eyes on Jesus. Since Christians CANNOT be indwelt by demons, I would make sure the person (unsaved) I was dealing with was willing to become a Christian. Otherwise, the demon activity would be much worse for the person. From sin and eternal damnation when I gave my life to Jesus.
  14. Shalom Chief, Amen and amen to everything you've said.
  15. There are certain standards that people in leadership are supposed to meet up to. As such, I think it is legitimate to bring up the fact Paula White is getting a divorce, especially since she is not in her first marriage. What kind of example is she setting? Besides, having your marriage go sour is not Biblical grounds for divorce. Jesus was never so casual when it came to this subject. She lives in a glass house and lives her life in the public, therefore it is proper to make comment on her situation. Pray for her, yes. Pray for her husband, yes. But even more we need to pray for the countless individuals she has influenced whose faith may be on the rocks because of this . Vickilynn called it: there is a price to pay for sidestepping G-d's order. I don't think anybody is judging her; all we can do is make judgments based on her actions. As to her heart, only the Lord knows what's going on in there. I don't think that you can make the statement that the faith of people she has influenced may be on the rocks because of this. At least I wouldn't say that. Jesus was the only minister who taught us and who was without sin. Other than that everybody is taught Scripture from a sinner, so does that mean that once we realize that that our faith is also on the rocks? I don't think so either... Shalom, Matthew 18 5(G) "Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me, 6 but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea. 1 Timothy 2 12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. 1 Timothy 6 Teach and urge these things. 3If anyone teaches a different doctrine and does not agree with the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ and the teaching that accords with godliness, 4 he is puffed up with conceit and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy craving for controversy and for quarrels about words, which produce envy, dissension, slander, evil suspicions, 5and constant friction among people who are depraved in mind and deprived of the truth, imagining that godliness is a means of gain. 6Now there is great gain in godliness with contentment, 7for we brought nothing into the world, and[c] we cannot take anything out of the world. 8But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content. 9But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. 10For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.
  16. Shalom Brother, You continue to amaze and bless me with G-dly wisdom, far beyond your years! G-d is using you mightily!
  17. Shalom, There's nothing "wordly" about using things to glorify G-d. You cannot make that judgment Scripturally. But, overall you are correct. We each have a choice. Praise G-d!
  18. Shalom, Actually, the entertainment, as you call it, other people call witnessing and evangelizing outreaches. That is their purpose, not to entertain, but to draw people to Jesus, where THEN they experience true worship and the preaching of the Gospel. Too many people condemn things without knowing all the facts.
  19. If that's the kind of church you like, more power to you. I prefer a more traditional church. What you said reminds me, there is a city production of "Jesus Christ Superstar" taking place in Lewisville, N.C. at Shallowford Square over the next couple of weekends. I have never seen it, so as I stated when that came up before, I have made no judgements on it. Hopefully, I will have time to check it out, and if so, I will let you know how it was. Shalom John, Thank you for the kind sentiments, (I think?) but I'd like to clarify a few things: It matters not what type of church I "like", as that is not why I am IN church. I am in church to serve, not to be served. I am in church to learn how to better serve Jesus and the Body, and to be more effective in my calling for the Kingdom. Our church reaches out to the lost and equips the saints and preaches the Word without apology and I believe what we do is glorifying to G-d. And we see much fruit from it, as in saved souls, dedicated lives, saints being equipped for ministry. THIS is what I go by, not whether I "like" it or not. THIS is what I see as a big problem in the Body today. We look for churches that WE like, that suit our purposes, that fill our needs, that minister to us in music type and everything else, instead of realizing that the church is the Body that is being made to be more like Jesus to reach more lost souls for Him, not to feel good and go home. And I don't know if you'll like Jesus Christ SuperStar, but I know I do.
  20. Shalom, All the silliness aside, this argument has been around wayyyy too long. What one person calls "entertainment", another calls "evangelism." What one person would never tolerate in their church because they think it's disrespectful, another church will embrace knowing fully well that G-d uses many means, usually contemporary to reach people that are turned off by "tradition" and doing things the way it has always been done, just for those reasons. I am thankful to be in a church that is sensitive to the needs of the those seeking Jesus and coming to them in their language and presenting the Gospel in ways that reach people who would never darken the door of a church. Magic shows, puppet shows, Christian rock concerts, Fall Festivals, street witnessing and more are reaching more people for the Kingdom than people sitting in pews shaking their heads and condemning their fellow Christians for using means the L-rd opens for witnessing.
  21. Shalom, We just bought the entire season of CHRISTY on DVD. This is an awesome show. The book was written by Catherine Marshall and is very close to the real-life story of her missionary mom and preacher dad who met while ministering to the people in rural Appalachian mountains of Tennessee. (Yes, in real life, Christy married the Preacher, not the Doctor.) I highly recommend this for families of ALL ages.
  22. Depends which denomination you attend. I belong to none and I do not believe that there are demons of clinical illnesses. My teeth have gone, my eyesight is dimming and my hearing is dodgy, but that's because they were neglected. When I was in the working force, their was no safety wear like ear muffs and galsses (unless you were in the engineering trade) not to mention I am aging. Now after saying that, I don't question the healing power of the Lord, but chasing demons is not what He died for. I'll say again, demons cannot cross the blood of the Lamb and cannot invade the temple, which is the abode of the Holy Spirit, which we are told is the christian's body. You got demons, you haven't got Christ.[/b] If I take my focus off the Lord and step outside the protection of the temple, I get what I deserve.........and I have had plenty...........that is until I really got stuck into the word. Now no demon can get through my armour. Shalom Eric!! AMEN!! Brudda, you RAWK!!!
  23. Shalom Kari, No. Demons are demons. There is no such thing as a "demon of cancer." When I had cancer, I had a physical disease, not a demon. I was healed by Jesus using drs and medicines and not casting out anything. And remember, the Holy Spirit lives in the Christian, so no demon can set up shop.
  24. Shalom Ruth, Yes, I have studied this quite a bit and had several experiences in my own life. Let me first say that G-d is G-d and we are not. While that seems simple, it is much deeper than we kn ow. IOW, we do not always know G-d's thoughts and plans and we cannot lock Him in a box and say He will always heal in this life. He does not. Jesus did not heal every person He came in contact with. Some He did and some He did not. Case in point, our 3 1/2 year old son collapsed and went into cardiac arrest while playing at the playground, actually walking down the steps to the playground. His daddy did CPR. the paramedics did CPR and advanced medical treatment. When I got there, I dropped to my knees and prayed, and prayed and prayed. Our youth pastor came and prayed with me. The crowd had gathered by this time, as the paramedics laid little Benjamin on the street to to work on him. I saw several people from church praying. However, as much as we BELIEVED Benjamin would live, he did not. That is because we must pray according to G-d's will and it is not always G-d's will to heal, in THIS life. G-d chose NOT to heal our son. A few months later, my husband, a police detective was injured in the line of duty and shattered his upper shoulder and rotator cuff requiring pins, rods and several surgeries. At the end, he could never work as a cop again and had to retire from the police force ad we had a long process and many exams to get the disability. The WHOLE time we and our pastors prayed that G-d would heal my hubby and it would not be necessary to continue. The WHOLE time we prayed that if it was not G-d's will to make the claim, that He would guide us in that direction. Long story short, my hubby is permanently disabled and we live on disability. STILL, we believe G-d is healing my hubby and sustaining him, but the disability was and is the right thing to do in the meantime. Another time, I lay literally dying from Acute Leukemia. I was bleeding from all inside my body and the blood was coming out faster than they could put it back in. I went into ICU with a tube down my throat to breath because my lungs shut down. I could not pray, but my family, pastor, friends from all over the world could and did. The hospital told my hubby I may not make it. By the grace of G-d I did, only to be in critical condiction a week later, still in the hospital with an allergic reaction to the chemo drug. My brain swelled, my temp went over 106 and I started seizing. Again, my hubby was told I would not make it, and if I did, I would definitely be brain-damaged and have kidney damage from the drug. Well, praise G-d, I did recover and I have no brain or kidney damage. G-d healed me using many means. And just a month ago, I had 2 tumors in my breast that were bothering me. They had been documented since 1997. When I went in to the cancer specialist, he told me they were GONE. And the dr said these types of tumors don't just disappear on their own. So, in this case, we have a miraculous healing. I say all this to tell you that G-d heals according to HIS WILL and sometimes He uses drs and sometimes He uses drugs and sometimes He uses miraculous means. ALL healing comes from Jesus. In answer to your question, with all due respect, I believe your pastor is dead wrong. It is not faith that heals you, it is Jesus that heals. We are to have faith that Jesus is G-d and He will heal according to His will. We are to pray according to His will. And your son should continue to seek his claim for this may be the way G-d is providing for your son. It is not a lack of faith, it is walking out where you are. I pray that in some small way, my experiences and study in this area have helped clarify things for you. Feel free to ask questions and I'll do my best to help.
