  1. It's very sad!!! They are also more vulnerable to being trafficked as typically happens after natural disasters: UNICEF responds to try to prevent child trafficking following Nepal earthquake Same thing happened following Hurricane Katrina) and happens in time of civil war to refugees and internally displaced people like in Syria and sometimes the very people sent to help exploit those in their "care" and "protection" as happened in Bosnia.
  2. That's a tough situation to be in, grace. It's especially difficult because your husband says he has been encouraged by this pastor-friend. When you talked to your husband, did you just ask him how he felt about talking with the pastor or did you also explain how you were feeling? I know I wouldn't want to get encouragement at the expense of someone else becoming discouraged; I would want that person to be open and honest with me. It's harmful and unhealthy to hold things in... at some point, they might not be able to be held in any longer. I agree with the others in that you need to pray about this. I also agree with DOE and the verses she posted about needing to speak with this pastor about how you feel hurt by him. I don't see how the verses in Matthew don't apply to speak with him first in private and see where it goes from there. I know I don't know the whole story here, but it seems you, your husband, and the pastor may be missing some information as well if communication is lacking. If each of you are unclear on what the situation is, it's kinda difficult to change it. I pray things work out well.
  3. Yeah... the first sin was when Adam and Eve disobeyed God. God gave them (and us) free will... out of love He gave us the ability to choose, so that we might love Him (if we didn't have a choice, it would not be love). When we choose to disobey God, that is sin... so it exists because we choose it to.

  5. i find your assumption both lacking in knowledge and lacking in tact. my daughter is ADHD. i have NEVER medicated her for it, although after the birth of her son, she briefly went on medication (til i informed her that she was taking legal speed, at which point she promptly quit). she is also OCD. she was not unruly, she was not ill behaved, and she was not poorly parented. she simply had difficulty with concentration because her mind was constantly in fast-forward. That's not necessarily a problem with her though but more so society. Everything is fast paced now. Classrooms go by slowly. I am an A student but I find it hard to concentrate in class. We live in a fast-forward culture. If your mind is fast-forward in a fast-forward culture than your mind is going at normal speed. Part of my dislike of it is the fact that I don't think any drugs should ever be used to influence action or brain patterns. To me it's anti God and something about it sends chills up my spine....OCD is a disorder I also don't think should be medicated because of the fact that almost everyone has it. No, almost everyone does not have this disorder. Perhaps some have obsessive or compulsive tendencies, but the majority of people do not have Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. And yes, many may have a hard time focusing in school, but the majority of people do not have Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Most people are not compulsively picking at their skin until they have wounds. Most people are not obsessing about their shoelaces to the point they cannot function. I work with a student who has both ADHD and OCD. He is on a very low dose of medication. I have seen him without his medication and it's heart-breaking how these disorders affect him. Even with the low dose of medication it's hard for him to function... without it, he cannot sit still for 5 minutes- regardless of rewards or consequences. Of course the better way would be for the family to rely on Jesus for his healing. But, God also gifts doctors to help treat patients.
  6. These questions were asked by a chatter who cannot post on the boards but sincerely wants answers; I am posting them for the chatter in hopes that some Messianic Jews can explain: If a Jew follows Christ, wouldn't he be a Christian and not a Jew... and if still a Jew, how could he hold to all the Jewish tradtions? And why would they continue to call themselves Jewish instead of celebrating their Christian faith?

  9. Isn't this essentially "mainstream" school? Daniel 1:3 Then the king ordered Ashpenaz, the chief of his officials, to bring in some of the sons of Israel, including some of the royal family and of the nobles, 1:4 youths in whom was no * defect, who were good-looking, *, showing intelligence in every branch of wisdom, endowed with understanding and discerning knowledge, and who had ability for serving in the king's court; and he ordered him to teach them the literature and language of the Chaldeans. 1:5 The king appointed for them a daily ration from the king's choice food and from the wine which he drank, and appointed that they should be educated three years, at the end of which they were to enter the king's personal service *. 1:6 Now among them from the sons of Judah were Daniel, Hananiah , Mishael and Azariah. 1:7 Then the commander of the officials assigned new names to them; and to Daniel he assigned the name Belteshazzar, to Hananiah Shadrach, to Mishael Meshach and to Azariah Abed-nego. A child may maintain a strong faith in a public school and a child may have a weak faith in a Christian school; I have seen children evangelize and stumble whether in a public school, private school, or homeschooled. A parent has the responsibility to prayerfully consider placement and then participate in their child's education wherever they are placed.

Yeah, she was already unable to care for herself. But to keep her small so that she doesn't get bedsores?! All you have to do is repostion a person and keep them clean and dry and they won't get bed sores and they also have special mattresses that help alleviate pressure as well. I'm just... uh!... can't even formulate words to express my disgust... I can understand if the parents thought they had Ashley's best interest involved and didn't know any better... but the doctors?! That I just can't fathom.

  12. Welcome to Worthy. I pray that you accept the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge!
  13. I read this in today's article on foxnews.com:
  14. 1 Corinthians 7:27 Are you married? Do not seek a divorce. ***************************************************** Divorce shouldn't be "sought" but is permitted because of hardness of heart but only on the grounds of (1) if an unbelieving spouse leaves, the believing spouse is not bound or (2) because of marital unfaithfulness. ***************************************************** Matthew 19 19:3 Some Pharisees came to Jesus, testing Him and asking, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any reason at all ?" 19:4 And He answered and said, "Have you not read that He who created them from the beginning MADE THEM MALE AND FEMALE, 19:5 and said, 'FOR THIS REASON A MAN SHALL LEAVE HIS FATHER AND MOTHER AND BE JOINED TO HIS WIFE, AND THE TWO SHALL BECOME * ONE FLESH '? 19:6 "So they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate." 19:7 They *said to Him, "Why then did Moses command to GIVE HER A CERTIFICATE OF DIVORCE AND SEND her AWAY ?" 19:8 He *said to them, "Because of your hardness of heart Moses permitted you to divorce your wives; but from the beginning it has not been this way. 19:9 "And I say to you, whoever * divorces his wife, except for immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery." ***************************************************** 1 Corinthians 7 7:10 But to the married I give instructions, not I, but the Lord, that the wife should not leave her husband 7:11 (but if she does leave, she must remain unmarried, or else be reconciled to her husband ), and that the husband should not divorce his wife. 7:12 But to the rest I say, not the Lord, that if any brother has a wife who is an unbeliever, and she consents to live with him, he must not divorce her. 7:13 And a woman who has an unbelieving husband, and he consents to live with her, she must not send her husband away. 7:14 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified through his wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified through her believing husband; for otherwise your children are unclean, but now they are holy. 7:15 Yet if the unbelieving one leaves, let him leave; the brother or the sister is not under bondage in such cases, but God has called us to peace. 7:16 For how do you know , O wife, whether you will save your husband ? Or how do you know , O husband, whether you will save your wife ?
  15. ((((((((( mike )))))))))))) I understand your needing to spend less time online and more time with your family; I pray your time is blessed. Knowing you has certainly been a blessing- know that you are a blessing and know that you are loved. I do pray that you will be here awhile longer and that you will be healed if that is God's will. I am praying for you, your family, and the doctors. I do hope I'll be seeing you around here, but if not, you will be missed and I'll catch you on the flip side. May the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort be with you and your family and friends. Love you, bro. "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me." -Psalm 23:4 Death is just a shadow for the believer... it has no substance, no sting, no victory. Praise God you know Him and are in His hands. "He who has the Son has the LIFE" -1 John 5:12a
