  1. I wrote this poem in honor of my dad who went Home to be with Jesus nine years ago today. I want to thank those of you here who helped me through that difficult time. Remembering My Father Remembering my father On this day he went away Although it was nine years ago It seems like yesterday A valiant fight with cancer A malfunctioning heart valve, too He wasn't going to make it And I think inside he knew His attitude was wonderful No bitterness or strife Determined to make each day count In what was left of life His kindness right up till the end Was there for all to see There's no way to articulate How much that meant to me The loving way he handled things To spare his family pain Was brave and touched me deeply His unselfishness was plain He didn't want to leave us But he knew he couldn't stay For when it was his time to go The Lord would have His say My dad was of short stature Yet, a giant of a man I wish this poem could capture it But realize no words can His giving ways through all his days The lives he touched were vast My mind is filled with lovely thoughts Remembering his past Commemorating my dad's life... How he "fought the good fight" And looking forward to the day When we will reunite Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. (1 Timothy 6:12) But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. (1 Thess 4:13-14)
  2. Who Thy Love, O God, Can Measure One repeated phrase in this song is "Thy Son of love" and the context of God sending Christ to die for our sins reminds me of this parable of the vine-growers: Luke 20 9-18 And He began to tell the people this parable: "A man planted a vineyard and rented it out to vine-growers, and went on a journey for a long time. At the harvest time he sent a slave to the vine-growers, so that they would give him some of the produce of the vineyard; but the vine-growers beat him and sent him away empty-handed. And he proceeded to send another slave; and they beat him also and treated him shamefully and sent him away empty-handed. And he proceeded to send a third; and this one also they wounded and cast out. The owner of the vineyard said, 'What shall I do? I will send my beloved son; perhaps they will respect him.' But when the vine-growers saw him, they reasoned with one another, saying, 'This is the heir; let us kill him so that the inheritance will be ours.' So they threw him out of the vineyard and killed him. What, then, will the owner of the vineyard do to them? He will come and destroy these vine-growers and will give the vineyard to others." When they heard it, they said, "May it never be!" But Jesus looked at them and said, "What then is this that is written: 'The stone which the builders rejected, this became the chief corner stone'? Everyone who falls on that stone will be broken to pieces; but on whomever it falls, it will scatter him like dust." Who Thy Love, O God, Can Measure by F. Allaben Who Thy love, O God, can measure- Love that crush'd for us its Treasure, Him in who was all Thy pleasure, Christ, Thy Son of love? Couldst Thou bruise Him, there forsaken On the cross His love had taken, 'Gainst Thy Son Thy sword awaken, 'Gainst Thy Son of love? Couldst Thou crush Him, Man of Sorrow,- Pierce His soul with wrath's fierce arrow, Melt that heart, rend joints and marrow- Doom Thy Son of love? Cross that outraged Love Paternal! Cross of agonies supernal! Cross of grief of The Eternal! Cross of boundless love!

  4. @Jacob Ben Avraham Amen. You have been a blessing to this site.
  5. @Sonshine☀️ This is an excellent reminder to all who would pick and choose (I guess they call that cherry picking?) scriptures that fit their own situations. False doctrines are supported this way. Sadly, there are even churches now that have decided to no longer read the Old Testament. I think that Timothy 3:16-17 goes hand in hand with the scripture I am about to post. Have a nice day
  6. Oh, Glorious Love of Christ 1. In my darkness Jesus found me; Touched my eyes and made me see; Broke sin’s chains that long had bound me; Gave me life and liberty! CHORUS Oh, glorious love of Christ my Lord divine, That made Him stoop to save a soul like mine. Through all my days, and then in heaven above, My song will silence never, I'll worship Him forever, And praise Him for His glorious love. 2. Oh, amazing truth to ponder; He whom angel hosts attend, Lord of Heaven, God’s Son, what wonder; He became the sinner’s friend!
  7. @Debp I so agree! They definitely do. I love this picture, btw.
  8. @marvelloustime Praise God!! This has been a life verse for me. I couldn't possibly count the times it has pulled me through my trials and temptations. In this scripture it is clear that it is the strength of CHRIST in which we are to walk and not our own. Jesus said, "For without Me ye can do nothing."
  9. @bloodbought Hey! No fair. SOMEONE ate the last lollipop.
  10. @BeauJangles I heard a preacher on the radio saying it in his sermon repeatedly. Then I realized (like you said) that "right?" must be trending.
  11. Yes. I think this is taking things to extremes.
  12. @Dennis1209 Thanks, brother. This is a good point you make and must explain why I've not spoken against the Holy Spirit in the many years I've been saved. But I have come across so-called Christian comedians making jest of the Holy Spirit and have tried to warn new believers in Christ to have nothing to do with this evil. For we are not to grieve God's Spirit.
  13. @Firm Foundation Amen. Thanks for stressing that it is serious. I agree with what you say about not wanting to take the risk. I believe we should certainly never say anything against the Holy Spirit. By the grace of God, I've not done this since being saved and have warned others against it.
  14. @Dennis1209 This is my understanding, also.
  15. @DustyRoad That must be hard. Hugs and prayers.
  16. Man...that's like, out-of-sight!!!!
  17. Survey says: Top 5 answers on the board for annoying slang are... GAG ME WITH A SPOON GROOVY me and BB agree on that one LIKE, LIKE.... FAR OUT SO..... Well-I'm just not sure now. Too many classics to choose from. How to narrow it to just 5????
  18. @Dennis1209 Thanks for the fun. I do like going down memory lane. But when I do it that fast it is sort of like playing lightening round on a game show. It also made me think of Family Feud, which I used to watch. Why? Because it was cool, man! lol
