  1. it's likely you're right BUT dear hunterpoet. please be stocked up on water & food & first aid equipment for ANY eventuality. we should all be prepared with emergency supplies anyway. just as you said, ya never know - imminent threat is always present.
  2. Yes i know there is always seismic activity around yellowstone. However: 'Yellowstone seismicity increased significantly in December 2008 due to an energetic earthquake swarm that commenced on December 26.' and: The December 2008 earthquake sequence is the most intense in this area for some years LINK this event may even be over by now but because i usually don't check my e-mail of a morning and today i did and found this, i decided to post it since i have to get ready for work, maybe someone else can check it out further. {then i'll know if i need to pick up more bottles of water this evening !!! }
  3. So . . . how can we or what should we learn from this? In what ways do we as Christians act like Lot? (It's not like we can be nomads these days . . . so how does this apply to us where we live?) And how can we be more like Abram? I think mainly to be 'in the world, but not of the world' as we are instructed. sounds like Abraham was 'in sodom, but not of sodom, ya know? btw, love the thread !
  4. That's a really beautiful thought. Our carnal natures don't want to praise God. But knowing He inhabits our praise helps me. I hadn't thought of it enabling Him to inhabit my thoughts, tho. I really need that. God does not "inhabit" our thoughts. God is all-knowing. He already knows every thought you have or will have even before you will think it. He knows that is, all tha will be or that can be. But Oh how he Loves us to Praise him the most High. He really does inhabit his people when they Praise him, Try It! Sorry, but He lives within me when I praise Him and when I don't. The Bible does not say He inhabits His people when they praise Him. That is something you are making up. Although I agree backontrack is correct in emphasizing the importance of praise, I have to side with shiloh that God inhabits the praises of his people. Psalms 22:3 3 But You are holy, Enthroned in the praises of Israel. No. shiloh said "The Bible does not say He inhabits His people when they praise Him. That is something you are making up." unquote

  6. no it's not you. 12 is way too young to wear make-up.
  7. i don't know the answer to your question but i saw the daily show one night last week where jon stewart hosted mike huckabee. mr. huckabee rephrased his stance many times but jon stewart still couldn't understand why interracial marriage between races was any different than a homosexual marriage. this generation sees no difference between homosexuals and any other minority group.
  8. Okay, first of all, the 'guvmint' did not cause the economic crisis; it was the people who thought they deserved a million-dollar home despite the fact that they were only making minimum wage. Second, bailouts aren't being done out of the kindness of Congress' heart; they're being done to prevent or avoid a depression the likes of which we have never seen. Third, it looks increasingly unlikely that the automakers are going to get any help at all. That's just fine with me. Let the market decide. the government did indeed cause this. congress all but forced banks to equalize minority mortgages. granted, a lot of greedy loan officers saw the potential in making lots of loans, i.e. lots of commissions and so financed unqualified borrowers who had nothing to lose really in giving it a try. i feel like congress knew the economy was tanking then and made that move to stave this off 'til now. consumer spending kept us afloat then and the lack of consumer spending is sinking us now.
  9. on the surface, this sounds serious, BUT, are the shariah compliant companies some among many of the companies under the AIG umbrella OR does AIG confine themselves to underwriting just those companies? if it's the former, it would seem all insurance companies must do this or be considered discriminatory. if it's the latter, they ARE discriminatory and should not be bailed out. i would appreciate more insight into this.
  10. yes, Amen !!! These can be the 'holidays' that everyone wants. we can trade gifts and celebrate the end of a good year. quiet, reverential celebrations can take place in september. however, if my memory serves me, the jewish people did not celebrate birthdays. they didn't consider it a good thing to do.
  11. the sight does not display well at all on my computer. i'll check it out later to see if the webmaster has had a chance to organize it.
  12. please reply as to the reason you responded to my post. i was not writing to you and i do not know why you replied as you did and would appreciate your explanation. i look forward to your prompt response. Dear Sister She Won't Reply thanks, joe. i'll stop watching for it.

  14. i'm skeptical. i can too clearly imagine the time and money expended in overcoming the red tape and the protests that would be a part of such a large venture. i don't know that we could accomplish much more in a large chunk like this than we do right now in the many small chunks. would it generate more publicity? of course. but don't forget where we are. publicity is probably not what we really want. that's my 2 cents worth, anyway.
  15. i had never thought of this in such an in-depth way. it seems that there are just the 12 apostles. (that 12 foundations thing seems fairly cut and dried, don't you think?) the rest of us are kings and priests !!!! functioning as eyes and ears and feet and hands and mouths, etc. in the ONE Body of Christ.
  16. Yacov, Would you be willing to clarify this statement please? Lay out Gods plan of Salvation for both the Jew and the Gentile as you understand it please. Peace, Dave 1) G-d stated that ALL Israel will be saved. Who are we to disagree with Him? Salvation is done and adjudicated by G-d Himself. Not anyone else including Yeshua. Now that I got your attention with that, G-d is the ultimate Judge. His say is final. Yeshua is our Defense Attorney and He has never lost a case. His act on the cross covers our sin so that The Judge cannot see our sin. 2) G-d has never Divorced Israel. He has rejected her at times. Have you rejected your spouse at times because your spouse wanted to do things their way? G-d's relationship with Israel is no different. Since He has never divorced her and had her done away with, He has a plan for salvation for Israel. He will cause ALL Israel to be righteous. 3) Theologians think the cause for righteousness is when Israel is in her greatest need to stay alive, G-d will provide a way for complete righteousness. It will be in His Timing and His doing. 4) Many Theologians think that the Evangelical Christians are going to assist in this cause by placing boots on the ground. As a retired military planner and strategist, I see a war coming where Evangelical Christians are going to have to defend to the death to protect Israel even with G-d's Protection just before The Messiah will come. This is what many Theologians beleive will happen. Israel does not allow anybody other than Jewish people to be in the IDF, at least not in great numbers. And if you are American, you will lose your American citizenship. Frankly and personally, if I lose my American citizenship, it would not hurt my feelings. This from a retiree of the US Army. 5) I see one salvation for both, but you have to know the scripture from a Hebrew mindset to understand this. There are many Rabbi's in Israel that know and beleive that Yeshua is the Messiah of Israel, yet if they speak this openly, they lose their position of ministry and possibly their citizenship. Shalom to you! i have greatly enjoyed hearing your viewpoint on all the things on this thread. the most exciting thing i have heard is where you state the the number of believers among the jewish people. did you know that this is one of the signs of the soon return of the Messiah? having shared this is more wonderful than maybe you know, so thanks !!
  17. my faith in the common sense of the human race fluctuates daily but scanning this article brings it to a new low. my hope is that only the most ignorant could believe such drivel.
  18. WOW! after seeing the poll results, i love you guys!! World? you better watch out !!!
  19. just to name a few: Jesus knew someone would betray Him so . Jesus knew the rooster would crow and he'd be disowned 3 times. Jesus knew he'd be crucified. Jesus knew He was born to die. that throws away the theory that He lived blindly on earth and only lived on limited information revealed by God the Father. What in these verses indicates this is not information revealed by HIS FATHER as needed? show me in scripture that the Father reveals these specific things to Christ? OR that the Father gave Christ warnings. I'll assume that you do not know the answer if you give a "the bible is silent" answer. I do have an answer to that but I'll wait til you respond. here goes the "show me scripture" response again. how about the entire old testament?
  20. Read that verse again. It says "no man" and "not the angels of heaven". It doesn't say that Christ doesn't know. John 10 30 I and My Father are one. Just a thought. ....no man, ....no angel, .....but my Father ONLY! I and My Father are one. mmm, i like your reply. as a matter of fact, while you'd never find Jesus telling a lie, He never felt obligated to say anything at all. i can even imagine him saying "none of your business", but it seems he was more diplomatic in that case than maybe i would have been. LOL. can we conclude then, that that was his more tactful way of saying it? i had to come back and add 1 more thing. just that i'm continually amazed at the importance of seemingly simple scripture. this is a good lesson on Jesus' character. to me, it shows how self-assured He was. i don't see him carrying around any kind of stupid obligations that made him feel like he had to appease or impress anyone. seeing Him in contrast to the silly neuroses most of us carry around is kind of sad. HE was how we're supposed to be. well, i see i got more work cut out for me.
  21. I think its good to be Biblical accountible for what we post..........?? and you are absolutely right. sorry, here comes the 'but' - however, if one has been a christian for some little while, we can have a really good idea of the spirit of the law & we really do not need to keep harping on the letter of the law. i'm concerned that it can keep us from getting into the depth of scripture. for that, you do need to know God's word as a whole, i think.
  22. this is a christian forum. as such, why do i feel i have to do research before i post a topic or reply to any post? i can tell you that it's getting tiresome. by the way, i am only addressing persons who have been on this board awhile and seem to make these demands sometimes for the sake of argument. i would not hold a new believer to the same account, for obvious reasons. we ought to know our bibles well enough that we don't need to write a thesis to back up our viewpoints. besides that, there is no one verse that can be pointed to that reveals the mind of God. it's the Word as a whole that is powerful in its revelation. so to everyone who demands "scripture, please!" i say do your own homework.
  23. yes i do. my take on this is based on the reality of spiritual warfare, that satan is the prince of the air. he cannot read our thoughts, but you can bet he would instantly tune in to anything he hears concerning God's plans, especially this one. this also answers the question of hitler and other evil men throughout history. satan must always have someone ready for that day and hour, so i believe there's been someone ready in every generation. whether Jesus divested himself of his divinity while he was a human being is irrelevant to the subject because don't forget as he was God, his mind would certainly be fully under His control and his brain is going to know what he wants it to know, to think and reason as He decides. it certainly wouldn't just operate on a whim as our minds are sometimes prone to do. we all have difficulty controlling our thoughts at times; we require considerable discipline to maintain a productive and well-functioning mind. i really don't think Jesus had this problem. if we work on thinking of our minds as subject to our spirits rather than the other way around, it will be easier to wrap our minds around certain facts & they'll make a lot more sense. bottom line of my rambling is that Jesus' mind ultimately subject to God's Spirit.
  24. i hadn't heard that before. i can only say i identify with paul in his statement. who shall deliver me from this body of death? although i am presently healthy, i know my body is only headed toward death and i see all other creation around me headed toward death so i look forward to Jesus, the one who will eventually deliver all creation.
  25. as to your second point, how to know the creator, this is the next step after acknowledging that there is indeed a creator. logically, you would believe something exists before beginning to search for it, right?
