  1. I think we should all remember that the Lord's Supper is not a sacrifice or a channel of grace. When we take the Lord's Supper we should be reminded that we are part of a body, a family, of believers and that we are not merely individuals (1 Cor. 11:25, 26)
  2. Couple of thoughts on this. I, too cannot understand why some Christians reject any reading other than the bible. I tried to get my friend at work to read some women's devotionals, and she rejected them, citing she only reads the bible. Second thought : Why is it when Hollywood makes a movie, any time a church is portrayed in a movie, it must be Catholic? Is that Hollywood's stereotype of the church or do they honestly beleive thats the only church in existence? To clarify, I am not against reading Christian commentaries, works of devotions or even fiction conveying principles of righteous morality in more modern circumstances and settings. I am against fictional books depicting the God head as a man or women, see my post above. I am against fiction books and movies about the end times because they are the interpretation of an individual and present conclusions and assumptions as actually things that will happen in actual places. They establish false markers and milestone to which people will look instead praying and reading their own bibles and watching for the signs of His coming. WELL SAID Blindseeker! I know enough about the author to not want to pick up any novel written by him. Young is one to embrace the idea of "Christian Universalism" and has defended this view on several occasions. He disavows "general universalism", but he has affirmed his hope that all will be reconciled to God either this side of death or after death.
  3. Wow, that's awful!! We had tornados come through our state last night (Arkansas)... I thought it is pretty strange to have tornados this far south in AUGUST
  4. I guess that I am one of those people with a "high sensitivity to doctrinal purity"! I'm sorry but I will not waste my time reading such HERESY!!!!!! I have heard too many things contrary to God's word by some of the most respected people. You shouldn't encourage it one bit!!!!! Even if it is just a work of fiction.
  5. Are you serious!!!!! Why do you read such APOSTASY!?!?!?! http://www.worthychristianforums.com/uploads/emoticons/default_emot-hug.gif' alt=':emot-hug:'> One word: HERESY!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. First of all, sorry for your loss. What a nice song for you to write for your friend and his family. I know that his family probably needs God's comfort right now. May God bless you for being so kind.
  7. I totally agree with you! He might have been led here for a reason.... God works in mysterious ways. We have to take advantage and witness to someone just like him. We are to shed some of God's light to someone that lives in such a dark dismal world. So be careful with your words and actions make sure they glorify God
  8. YAY! Finally someone who has some sense!! Don't mess with God or His Word!!
  9. Well said Sis Vicki... As long as you are equally yolked, race shouldn't matter.
  10. 79. REGENERATION ------------ TITUS 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; If i absolutely had to pick JUST ONE...and only one....then I would say this is my favorite Glad I don't have to pick because I love them all.....lol. Thanks so much for sharing!!
  11. I totally agree with you glorywatch. People, such as he, especially holding a title like "preacher" makes us Christians look bad. What a stumbling block that guy is!!! Some people need to be slapped on the hand
  12. true indeed, for I have been blasted and called names for being a christian from a nephew in regards to his mother (my older sister) that has been jealous for me for so many years, I won't go into that right now, but knowing the troubles i was going thru after a divorce and telling me i should help our alcoholic brother (which I did let him move in for 5 weeks) which was horrible, he couldn't keep a job, he come home drunk every nite, I told him to get some professional help, he wouldnt listen, then I kicked him out last year and it all started a fight with my sister and her family, then being attacked, I had to walk away and disown that part of my family, so hurtful and still is, if my mother were alive she would not believe this would be happening. I pray to the Lord all the time over this, it is a ache that lingers in my heart, for my 28 yr old nephew to attack me and tell me he is a pagan and my christian life was a joke putting it mildly here, and my sister allowing him to talk to me like this, was unbelievable. And as for the alcoholic brother he is still jobless and continues his drinking. But its so worth being a christian to me, God has been there for me, and I know God can do miraculous things in my life and in the lives of your loved ones, its a challenge as a believer to take God at His word...and i know things in life will shake your faith indeed. desi God bless you Desi. I have been through some similar things myself (maybe not as harsh as yours). It still hurts to be rejected and mocked by a family member. It is hard to be treated with disrespect and forgive that person... But we have to remember that Christ was mocked, scorned, and rejected. He still loves and gave his own life for us. We just have to forgive those people and pray that they will come to know Christ. Until then, they will not know the trials that Christians go through. They don't understand that we have struggles and temptations. God's grace and mercy helps us overcome those adversities. Just because we are Christians does not mean we are immuned to sin. We just allow a mighty God to deliver us from that sin ! ! 1 Peter 1:7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
  13. I prefer the KJV...! I am partial to it, because that is what I have always used and seems to me to be the most consise. However; I do have many commentaries I refer to also. It helps me with my bible study. So if you are going to use the KJV, I recommend get you a good commentary...such as the likes of Matthew Henry, William McDonald, Spurgeon notes, or Searchlights by G. Campbell Morgan
  14. Blessings sister lydia. I agree with the fact we need Jesus, But I dissagree when you say we will never be good enough for God to love us. He does love us. It is through Jesus that we have mercy and grace and through accepting Him we can go to Heaven. It is because of Jesus God can accept us. Romans 5:8 For God demonstrates His own love for us in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us. He loves us to be sure. But without Christ we have no hope of having a relationship with the Lord. In His Loving Hands, Sister in Christ, LIVN4JC The whole point of grace is that we don't deserve to be loved by God, but he loves us anyway. I didn't say God didn't love us... I know he loves us or he wouldn't have given his Son to die for us. We don't, however, deserve his love. Grace us unmerited and the love also was unmerited... You can't earn it, it is a gift. I'm sorry that you misunderstood me.
  15. He loves you because He created you, Paige. You are only called to be what He would have you be; I have the feeling that the 'flawed' analysis is either coming from other people or your own doubts. Trust the Lord to mold you and you can't go wrong. Well put, Morning Glory!
  16. I think we all have felt or feel this way at some point in our lives. The thing is, we will never be good enough for God to love us. That's why we need Jesus. Here is some scripture that I think might help. I have often refered to it myself. Psalm 51:1-2 Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy loving kindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin." If you have time, read all of Psalm 51.
  17. Paul, Once again, you are not the only person that suffers from this. I find myself trying to think about issues during the day and can't, yet when I begin to pray, my prayer will step off the path and that issue becomes all too clear. I wouldn't worry about God feeling it's a sin or offense...God knows your heart and knows what you need before you even pray...not to mention it's the spirit in us that mediates our prayers. One person mentioned they fell asleep during prayer....that seems to me, that is because you are in fellowship with God and become so comfortable and relaxed these issues happen. People seem to want to "LEARN" how to pray so bad, yet the bible says we don't know how to pray for as we OUGHT to (romans 8:26...and Im not speaking about praying in tongues). So relax, pray as your heart leads you and let the spirit do it's job and in time you shall be refined. We are only righteous through Christ, yet we are to pray in righteousness...it's a difficult task, but through the grace of God, we are able to communicate to Him, through Him. God Bless brother. Well said! !
  18. I guess we were thinking the same thing at the same time ! LOL!! Good stuff ! ! !
  19. Romans 16:17-18 "Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offenses contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned: and avoid them. For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hears of the simple." The JW's are VERY aggressive in promoting their beliefs...having churches and missionaries throughout the world. They JW's have produced literature (The Watchtower) that has a circulation of more than 13 million. More than one billion Bibles, books, and leaflets have been distributed in at least 176 languages since 1920. There are more than 46,000 congregations in 98 countries worldwide. 1 Peter 3:15 "But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear."
  20. Wow! That is breathtaking
  21. That is so strange ! Something is not right with her, OBVIOUSLY!

    Is OSAS true

Who does not have eternal security: Those who profess but do not repent (Lk. 3:7-14) Acts 26:20. Those who have merer intellectual assent (Jn 2:23-25) James 2:17-20) Those who have self-willled faith, only believing what they want to believe rather than the testimony of the Scriptures (jn 6:60-66) and those who have religious zeal apart from the gospel (Ro 10:1-4) HOWEVER; if the disobedient Christian doesn't lose his salvation he will be out of fellowship with the Lord and his people (1 Jn 1:3-7). the sinning Christian is helped and loved by the Lord Jesus Christ (1 Jn 2:1-2) The sinning Christian is chastened by the Father (He. 12:5-11). The sinning Christian loses irreplaceable opportunities for service and fruit (Ep. 5:14-17) (mt. 9:36-38) (1 th. 5:4-10). The sinning Christian can be forgiven, but he cannot regain the lost opportunities and the hurt he has caused by his sin. The sinning Christian will suffer loss at the judgement seat of Christ (1 Co. 3:11-15) (2 Co 5:10) (1 Ti. 6:17-19) (1 Jn 2:28)
  23. Revelation Illustrated and Made Plain by Tim Lahaye or Revelation Unveiled by Tim Lahaye Tim Lahaye is GREAT! I also recommend Escape The Coming Night by Dr. David Jeremiah and Forward by Tim Lahaye.
  24. This in my opinion is great scripture regarding domestic relationships.... Colossians 3:18-21 "Wives submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and be not bitter against them. Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord. Fathers, provoke not your own children to anger, lest they be discouraged.'
