Prime I did not say no one else could use the thread. I said could we have a discussion on the origins of holidays, and or traditions without all the sarcasm. I would appreciate information on this topic, and was in no way trying to argue with anyone. You throw out that Mithra remark at Jipsah with not info with it. So what is it. Help educate, not attack. I correspond with inmates at Waupun correctional facility that want to write and learn about christianity. Anyway I recieved a letter yesturday from a guy that claims he is a spiritualist. He doesn't really go into what that is, except to say it is not wiccan and he is into the metaphysical. I would like to know what this is before I respond to him. He also believes in a divine creator but thinks he is far removed from us. Sometimes those of us on the list get letters from people who just want someone to write to, and sometimes from those who want to convert us. But needless to say all are in the mission field and I would like to give an intelligent response. He also says he is well versed in scripture. So any ideas, I would appreciate it. Two things first Satan does exist and is hid in the form of all this other stuff. Second I was trying to just simply have a discussion with Xan, not trying to offend anyone or debate with anyone. So could we possibly have a discussion that gives and takes info without getting all uptight about what is being said. If someone feels the urge to debate it, we have a thread for that. It seems like no matter where you go, or what you are talking about someone has to get upset. Heres a really good idea, if you come here and don't like what the discussion is, jump over to the debate thread and post a topic on it. I have a book with pictures of the new Babylon. The what was it the gate of Ishtar has been partially restored, but now Saddam is asking other countries to return pieces of the old Babylon to Iraq, he wants to replace the original as much as he can. I believe the rest of the gate of Ishtar is in Germany in a museum. I don't remember where all of it is scattered. Anyway they have even resumed some of the pagan festival there. Eph From what Gospel are you preaching and who the heck are you talking about? Are you sitting around with blinders on. There has been great movements for Christ going on all over the place. I can not think of one christian who is digging a foxhole. I don't know if Christ will be here in my lifetime but if He is I'll be ready. When I say that I do not mean I am just going to put off living because I think He's coming tomorrow. You my friend are making an awful lot of assumptions about what others are doing based on which rapture theory they believe. And you know what I don't even think about the whole rapture business. Anyway Shilo to explain one thing if you read Ezekiel with this in mind it will make much more sense. God said his people would not listen. So to get their attention He had Ezekiel do strange things, those strange things or at least many of them were pantomimed, meaning Ezekiel would act out the prophecy and when He had their attention God would allow him to speak and say the prophecy. Go back and read it and see if that makes sense. If that makes sense, you have something to share with your friend about the false thing she is getting into. :biggrin: Love in Christ Teri

Ok so where do I start to look for this information. To be fair to the family I have to back up my reasoning with sound doctrine. Also how does one celebrate Hanaka? Did I spell that right? The hardest thing I have had to give up is books. I don't mean books in general, but books I had read long ago and kept around that were not proper reading material for a christian. You know like steve king stuff. My pastor says that one thing will be the thing that God wants you to put down. Question yourself can you live with out it? I look around me now and can't think of a thing that I need to get rid of. I even went through all the old records and tapes. I was a product of peace, love and rock and roll. You know something that reminds me of an article I was reading about Wiccans being angry at the Catholic church for stealing their title of Diana "Queen of Heaven" and giving it to Mary. Creepy huh? Hey Bob have you noticed something here, this used to be a hot topic and still is in my home. But look around, everyone has moved on and is possibly getting desensitized to the whole thing. And I'm glad you are like Noah, we could use a few more of those around. You know in many new believers lives after the initial lifting up of the spirit calms down, alot go back to the world. It truly is sad, but do you notice how quiet it is on this end of the board? Once again people are forgetting Israel. It's a good thing you come here or who would Italk to about all this. That is something one would have to really think about. I know I am definitely not a fence straddler. Do I hide behind the fact that I'm saved anyway, I don't think so but I'll have to pray about it and see if God convicts me in any way. I think I know what you are talking about. I know people who live with their other half and when I ask them what they think God thinks they say they know He doesn't like it but He will forgive them anyway. Bob I truly understand your desire to teach and reveal to others what is going on there. I never really got the whole thing until I found God and studied scripture and even in that it did not make sense without a relationship with God. I believe the closer we get to God the more of a kindered spirit we feel with Israel. Something happens to us where we feel the ancient callings of Israel and it all becomes clear. To truly know God one must also be connected in spirit to Israel. At this point the delusion of the secular world and even christians who claim to know God but feel no affiliation with Israel can be unnerving at best. When I was younger I had what I thought was a bizzar experience. I ran from an abusive husband who finally had put a 45 to my head. I knew the time had come to flee or die. This began a year long nightmare in which the whole world appeared to be insane to me. It became a battle of his rights to being a father. My children and I went to a battered womens shelter. I had to have officers go with me to collect our belongings. The state we found them in was the girls clothes were ravaged by cutting out the crotch and breast areas, my sons kitten had it's head tore off and placed in a box with his name on it. This of course screamed of rage and a desire to get even through the children. This was insane. But in court everyone was arguing about his rights as a parent. A social service agency gave out our location to his attorney and when I confronted them I was told I had no right to keep the children from their father. Even my own attorney was telling me the rights of the parent supercede that of the children. The more I got into it the more stories I heard about mothers being forced to give out their location so the father could visit the children. Some of the mothers were killed during the exchange. This was all very insane and all the legalistic stuff and everyone ignoring the obvious that he was nuts made me a bit crazy. Eventually after a year of fighting he was finally sentenced to prison for the gun incident and was released a few years ago. My children are grown and he has not bothered to try and contact them. Thank God. But I know what it feels like and the desire to educate others. The problem is they can't be educated. They don't get it. They have this supposed higher minded thinking that gets into grey areas of peoples rights. It is a nice thing to say the Palestinian people deserve a state of their own. They don't get it that the people are crazed with violence, and hatred towards the Israelites. They truly think in their lofty ideas that the violence will stop if this state appears. They are incapable of seeing ahead to the destruction the Palestinians will be capable of if given free reign. They just don't get it. They don't understand that this began centuries ago and the hate will not end at the beginning of a state of Palestine. I'm just telling you this because for a couple of years after my ex went to prison I was obsessed with the need to educate others. I got involved in speaking to different groups of cops, and law makers. A few things were changed but not much and in the mean time I couldn't let go of the hate or learn to forgive. I had to leave to regain myself and be with God because the more I tried to tell others and more conversations I had to listen to that got caught up in the rights of a madman the sicker I got. I'm not saying you are getting sick I'm just saying be careful. It's easy to lose focus when confronted with illogical thinking. Love in Christ Teri

Well actually I was wondering if there has been an actual war where christians were killing christians only for the vanity of the politicians or powers that be. The only thing that comes to my mind is the English and the Scots, as both claimed to be christian. The English were oppressors giving the right to the Scots to retaliate, and the English were only doing the fighting to hold on to what was not theirs to begin with. Jipsah would this be an example of what you are speaking of? Of course if you asked a Scot they would tell you the English were Pagan so who knows? I do think God is always involved and in this case the Scots eventually won according to the wll of God. Do we know if this is going on in our current history? Love in Christ Teri
