  1. Also there is a verse in De.18.22 - "When a prophet speaketh in the Name of the Lord, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which The Lord hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him." In OT days, false prophets were put to death.. would certainly help in purging out things these days! The prophetic is still alive and well but very misused and abused. As has already been said we need to align everything with Scripture!
  2. Yep yep Paul, we be on the same track.. they will never get it away from me because the Holy Spirit clearly led me to use the KJV only and all other versions hold no interest for me. With the excepetion maybe of the NASB, once in a blue moon.
  3. Hey shiloh357, I happen to own one of those Holman CSV's. We have many, many others, some really old ones as well. We only use them if we run into difficulty and for further clarification/perspective but otherwise noooo. I really prefer a good concordance and greek interlinear for instance when studying and other helps which cause one to search things out for oneself.I actually only really get the KJV which I don't even see the thees and thous quite honestly; it's almost like The HS does an automatic interception as I read, I see it same as we speak, no joke. I know that ppl really like the Amplified for instance but it's too wordy and makes me tired literally.. Strange how we are all so different. It's what makes the world go 'round..albeit some make it more dizzying.. haha
  4. Hello, For one thing healthy boundaries are very good to establish in each and every relationship. It's good that you realized that you would have been dragged down into that same spiritual pit of darkness. Well, I submit to you that if you stick around compromise and worldy thinking long enough, you'll end up just like the people you hang with. You say that you are a very caring person, so in that case you have to really gaurd your heart even more carefully! Because it means that you have been given a sensitivity to people and you relate to their problems; empathy is almost a lost art in our everything about me culture!!! Sometimes Blien, you have to love people at a distance which means that after having talked things over with them and they still don't get it but insist on doing their own thing, their way and especially as it affects you, ie. trampling your feelings and so forth underfoot.. then back out of the picture. It's alot like letting go and letting God! Does this make sense to you? If not then just move on to the next post.. Sincerely and Always With His Love, Wanda aka sweet~lady PS. A good book to read would be called "BOUNDARIES, When to say YES and When to say NO To take Control of Your Life" co-authored by Dr. Henry Cloud and Dr. John Townsend.
  5. Indeed it does. For one thing it can be emotionally draining, which affects our physical status. When you pray with all of your heart and soul engaged, you become weary at times. Depends. Sometimes it can be a real spiritual high especially during those times that you just know that God is leading you and the answer is right at hand!!! Woot. There's also the fact to consider that you are in a war zone and staying engaged in that zone is indeed work and work by it's very nature is exhausting when it's for prolonged periods of time. We, all of us, need to greatly learn how to operate out of the rest that God has provided. I know that fits my shoe-size here at any rate.. Just a few thoughts off the top.. lots left for somebody else to share....
  6. I know that you have it mostly settled in your mind sir but I just wanted to say that I am a KJV diehard!!! My husband reads the NLT and I tease him all the time about his heathen Bible. I am rather merciless and one track minded..
  7. Here's another thought.. spiritual riches=spiritual gifts=spiritual treasures which if shared randomly with the carnal or the unbelieving they most certainly will turn again and bite you back! can mean the unbelieving christian community are the worst offenders I know of! I don't see where this is talking specifically about sharing The Word ie. preaching the Gospel.. It's from The Sermon on The Mount. Reading in context, what I see is all encompassing. How did you arrive at your conclusion pls. that it's mainly to do with preaching? I would be most interested to know. Thanks.
  8. I absolutely agree with this both in content and approach! That's precisely what I would do!
  9. Actually I want to edit something I said.. I stated that JW's believe that they are the only ones that are saved. I want to correct that... they believe that they are the only ones going to heaven and even then they only have a "hope so" view of that because they don't believe that we can know for sure that we are saved! Of course they can't be saved because they don't believe that Jesus is The Son of God come in the flesh and unless I read my Bible wrong, that is antichrist spirit! I would steer clear glorywatch. You have to really know that God is leading you to respond and try to reach them, because in most instances they just want to promote their doctrine and will listen to you only to reinforce their views somehow, anyway they can. I admire those that do and I personally have been led to speak to them very rarely but it has happened. Mostly, you have to maintain the upper hand when you encounter brainwash! And if you are not up for that then you will just be wasting your time. Thanks for listening. God Bless! His Love and mine, Wanda aka sweet~lady Ps. It's supposed to be a given for all Christ-Followers that we are to be led of the Holy Spirit in everything we do so in my opinion, for me to tell you that would be a no-brainer. My job as your sister in Christ is to raise red flags when appropriate and just cause awareness of things to the best of my ability. As somebody already said in response to you, this whole thing was probably automatically generated somehow into JW database; more than likely purposely driven and taken from there. As you are well aware they are very aggressive in their approach to making adherents to their cult religion.
  10. glorywatch, if you do feel led to respond to this, which btw, I would not advise, but still could prove harmless enough; just please be aware that JW's are extremely brainwashed and unless God opens her heart and mind to the truth of anything you might share with her in that regard, she will just automatically trash it. They believe they are the only ones saved and everybody else is on the pathway to hell. It's really tragic actually what cults do to people... total and complete bondage. Posting anything on the web isn't as secure as people think. There has just been a news release about facebook and the implications of the changes there are something that folk should pay close attention to. I have never felt comfortable about getting too personal on the web although I believe sites like this are protected because they are owned and operated by realtime Christ Followers. Just my loonies worth ..
  11. Greetings Afal, As you most likely already know, we cannot share our problems with just anyone for this can greatly increase the problem through added pain (when they don't understand or get it ) and confusion ( generating sometimes unwanted multitudes of contradictory advice especially that which is not biblically sound ). Have you considered just simpy saying to them "not that well at the moment" or "in a word, struggling" or something of that nature will let them know that you are struggling and if they have any sensitivity to The Spirit of God that will lead them to intercessory prayer on your behalf. Also as somebody already said, through doing that, being real instead of wearing a mask will prompt someone to offer their help albeit through a listening ear, sound scriptural advice, etc. Be yourself, ask God to give you the courage to be authentic. It's what He wants. Hope this can help point you in the right direction. I can fully understand where you are coming from. Blessings.
  12. Greetings in Jesus Mighty Name ! A Scripture passage came to mind immediately upon reading your post. It's found in 1 Jn.5.14,15.. 1 John 5.14 - "And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He heareth us: 15. And if we know that He hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him." The best foundation to have is one based soley on what does The Word say.. it will take away much of the guesswork and confusion that people have regarding what God's will is. There are a great many times that we do not know how/what to pray for. That's where Romans 8.26,27 kicks in.. Ro.8.26 - "Likewise The Spirit helps our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but The Spirit Himself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27. And He that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of The Spirit, because He maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God." Both passages make it crystal clear that it's prayer thats' according to His will that He answers. The second most urgent reuirement is faith which is simply trust that God means what He says and will do what He says in any given situation according to His Word / Promises. I won't type them out but if you would look up Mt.21.21,22 and Mk.9.23 and get that in your spirit man, then you have a solid foundation on which to base your prayer life on. (There's much more but that's a start ). Opinions of men vary but God's Word does not change. Amen.
  13. Linda aka Jimlas, Thankyou for the affirmation! TTYS..
  14. Ok I never thought about this until today actually so here I am again.. In all seriousness and in absolute truthfulness, I feel that I need to share what happened to me the day that I posted an unspoken request... I felt so lifted up on wings of peace and rest and assurance that entire day that I would not be able to properly describe in the natural but that just completely disproves that unspoken prayers cannot be prayed for in faith believing God to touch and answer what HE SEES and KNOWS is needed. I didn't say who, what, when, where or how or even if the request was for me or not.. just that it had to remain an unspoken request. That is my testimony that happens to coincide with this discussion so I'm sharing it with all respect to the naysayers. We don't have to agree just be agreeable and pleasant. I already posted my heartfelt thanks to those of you that prayed. I do indeed love you all very much according to Ro.5.5 !
  15. okies I stand corrected glory and laura, i got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning.. shoulda hit the wall side instead haha
  16. waaayyy to go manie.. now if people could only admit they were wrong hay lol well dont think that's gonna happen anytime soon!!! I know what ya mean girl, I know what ya mean..
  17. to reiterate.. here is a better way imo to get to the bottom of this... straight from the horse's mouth, the authors own story behind the whole thing rather than all the hoopla of opinions. Most enlightening. http://www.crossroads.ca/index.html Look in the archives, program #8219 and watch it for yourself. You won't be sorry you did. One thing I have to say is a group of ladies I know used this book as a Bible study.. that is really stretching it.
  18. ok why are 3 threads on the same topic pls this is major confusion two in general discussion and one in controversial can't you even agree to a thread wow not impressive
  19. waaayyy to go manie.. now if people could only admit they were wrong hay lol
  20. I love the Mitford series. Its quite a pleasant read. I went out and got the entire series. http://www.mitfordbooks.com/ You can read the first chapters of her books on that site too. TYSM AyinJade, I bookmarked that site again. I am currently on book#2, "A Light In The Window" from that series; it's my 3rd time through... They are so delightful!!! I bought the first book in the Father Tim series as soon as it came out in paperback that's kind of why I decided to rerun the whole gamut from the beginning... God Bless!
  21. Hi Again Thomass, You already are doing something by your involvement with outreach to the homeless. Another way is to do short term missions trips through your church or some reputable organization that addresses aid to the poor. Have you heard of Habitat for Humanity for instance? Certainly giving as much as God filters through your hands financially as already has been mentioned. If you live in the USA there are many places to be involved no doubt right in your own backyard so to speak, given todays economic situation, not to mention mission Mexico which is a real need also. Basically, it's about how and where God leads you as an individual. When we give alms we are not to let our right hand know what our left hand is doing so I'm not sure that many will want to share specifics, but a general point in the right direction is ok. To reiterate, talk to your pastor and ask for his input/advice/direction as someone so aptly mentioned in an earlier post. God Bless.
  22. just heard this on cbn news.. quite a landmark! We have a lady friend that will be 100 yrs old this June 16th. Thank God that she is a believer and a strong intercessor still! Blessed Birthday Greetings to GBS
  23. Hi, I grew up with this legendary figure of a beast and just wanted to share a short clip from today's Daily Bread regarding this.. "Punxsutawney phil is a groundhog that comes out of his burrow on Gobbler's Knob, PA, each Feb.2nd to predict the weather. According to legend, if Phil sees his shadow, there will be 6 more wks of cold weather. If he doesn't see his shadow, spring will come early." It's cloudy here today in these Alberta hills .. he he
  24. Ps.4.5 - KJV- "Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in The Lord." Simply put, offer unto God the sacrfice of right living, trusting Him in every situation at all times. and
