1 Cor. 5:6-8 Your glorying is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump? Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us. Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. Paul and the apostles were in Jersusalem keeping the feasts it was on Shavuot that the Spirit was poured out, by your reasoning are you suggesting that was the last time they kept this Feast? We read in Acts 28 where the gentile converts will learn of the 'Law' of Moses and the prophets. Heres a quote from Conybeare which was a hard read to be sure at least for me, "If we take 'as you are unleavened' in a metaphorical sense, it is scarcely consistent with the previous 'cast out the old leaven'; for the passage would then amount to saying, 'Be you free from leaven (metaphorically) as you are free from leaven (metaphorically)'; whereas, on the other hand, St.Paul says, 'Be free from leaven (metaphorically) as you are free from leaven (literally).' There seems to be no difficulty in supposing that the Gentile Christians joined with the Jewish Christians in celebrating the Paschal feast after the Jewish manner, at least to the extent of abstaining from leaven in the love feast. And we see St. Paul still observing the 'days of unleavened bread' at this period of his life, from Acts 20:6......" (Conybeare and Howson, The Life and Epistles of St. Paul, pp.389, 390) Running down that quote, its much easier to copy and paste than to type all that from the book! lol I found this little site link now I am not endorsing nor did I read it through but did like what I read, it even has the quote I used from Eusebius so it must be an often quoted piece. Heres something else to consider; The goal of Constantine was to set the date of Passover on his calendar, period. He grew impatient with the true believers, or as you call them Jews, because God sets down how the first month of the year is to be seen, the barley needs to start to ripen and the new moon was to be seen. This took time, Gods time, as well as time to get the letter sent from Jerusalem to Rome, one reason Constantine was so miffed about waiting so he took things upon himself and had a set date for Passover, not easter but Passover, actually the word he used would have been translated lamb. Of course you see that He rose in Sunday and I do not, He was out of that grave before the sun set which would have been the Sabbath. I am not going to go round and round with you on any of this unlike you I do not like to debate and try to be the 'teacher' or the one who must be correct all the time. To me Gods word is not a tool to use to show how one is right above the other, it is to be explorded, to be cherished, not to be used as a hammer to prove ones mettle over anothers. shalom, Mizz

Despicable isn't it! No one under any circumstances should have this done to them. I have read so many heartwrenching stories from woman and men, and this was not just here in the states it has happened all over the world from what I can gather. The idea that a person is 'mentally retarded, their IQ is too low' things of that nature have always been one of the reasons given for such a terrible thing. I am completely against sterilization and yes I know exactly what its like to see a mentally impaired teen go through all this, I have seen the two sides up close and personal in my family.

What do you think the apostles were doing in Jerusalem when the Holy Spirit overtook them? that was Shavuot, they had finished Passover, went through the Feast of Unleavened bread and were told to wait there. We still see them in the temple, we even read of Paul and sacrifices. The split with the true church in Jerusalem and Constantine is pretty well known, the whole controversy and change of the calendar by Constatine came about because he needed the 'Jews' the true beleivers to set the day of Passover. We read about this in Polycarps writings as well as the change from the Passover to 'communion' in Rome. Theres a ton of historical stuff on this change you can find just by googling it. The book of Acts has accounts showing the apostles kept the feast days, Acts 2:1, Acts 18:21 Acts 20:16 to name a few. And we see here in 1 Cor. where Paul specifically states 'let us keep the feast', 1Cor 5:6 Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump? 7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us: 8 Therefore LET US KEEP THE FEAST, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. Why would he say that unless they were keeping them? There are many places where Paul addresses issues over keeping days, times and moons, stating that no one should tell another not to keep or to keep them, pretty much shows there was controversy surrounding the hows and whys of keeping them, ie, the hard and fast legal ways or in the Spirit as they were given. Not that Paul nor anyone ever suggested they are done away with but were still kept by all who believed in Messiah, who called upon His name for salvation. Why do the apostles keep declaring that Yeshua is our Passover if Passover was now a defunct thing of the past? I could give many quotes from Polycarp, Eusebius, in the ante-nicean writings we even read where Passover is to be observed as tradition dictates on the 14th day. I have ton of stuff I can post about Passover being observed, by the apostles, after the temple fell and when it started to be turned to something different. It really is a matter of history, I will end with this quote:

I Have Had It.....Really
mizzdy replied to AnotherSinner's topic in Have a problem? Looking for advice?
My dear sister I can so relate. My son had a lot of special needs growing up and a daughter who was just as willful if not more so than I was, combine those two with a few other real doozies and oh boy! lol I did stay at home with my kids until my son started school then I started working at their school, which lead to me getting pulled out of my classroom to take care of my sons problems the teacher didnt want to handle. My husband worked on many days at least an hour or so away, after we moved and he started his own business which leads to many many long hours so I was left to handle everything. I could have made the list you wrote with a lot more added on that because I opted to work. My husband is one of the few really good guys, or at least I get told that all the time, he would cook dinners when I had to work late although I cant remember him ever using a vacuum or cleaning a toilet around the house. Its very overwhelming having a child with special needs, its not only tiring on moms but on dads and marriages as well. If you havent already please sit down and talk to your husband, tell him how you feel, put the emphasis on you not him that may only make a wall come up in defense. It is best if you could point to certain things and ask for a bit of help, feeding the kids, bath time, picking up the toys, simple things. If you hold all this in it will only fester and cause more problems as it grows. Bitterness and resentment come from not letting things out, by not allowing us as wives to address problems even if they are not really understood by our spouses. If you need to talk please pm me I am usually around or close by and check emails and pms often. Take this to Yahweh, ask for His guideance and direction. I pray that He send you shalom in your heart to conquer that chaos within. shalom, Mizz -
In the Catholic church they do communion every day. It keeps their focus on the gospel of Jesus Christ--remembering and prolcaiming the Lord's death which saved them (1Co 11:25-26). Not really sure why my post got you to the rcc and what they do. shalom, Mizz The frequency of the Lord's Supper. Don't know of any other group that does it every day. I think it's a good thing. We eat every day, don't we? I just had this convo with a family who just joined us at our fellowship, all coming out of the rcc, not every single catholic does communion everyday, most only do so on Sunday at mass. Did Yeshua do this everyday? did He set aside the Passover as an everyday occurence or are we told that we are to do this everyday? I dont think we can find where He nor the apostles did so either. The apostles as well as Yeshua kept the Passover, it was at this time that He stood and said, This is my blood and body, He didnt say that on Sunday or even on the regular Sabbath. I don't have a problem with anyone having communion on Sunday, the Sabbath or whenever they feel led to do so. What scriptures shows us that Yeshua and the apostles kept the Passover, they didnt institute a new way of doing it all but that He expanded upon to show that He indeed was and is our perfection, our covering. I also think that 'eating' is different than Passover as well as communion, we certainly can have fellowship meals with all, we do that each and every Shabbat at my fellowship yet we have 'communion' on the new moon celebrations each month. Its fantastic really, a day set aside as a renewal, as the moon renews itself so His Spirit helps to renew us also. shalom, Mizz

Thank you Mizzdy, Loving the description given to the purpose and symbology behind a great deal of the Passover events and ritual practices. Going to reread it later. This information is much appreciated. May God Bless You Dani Welcome. I love that site, it has a lot to offer in understandings of the feasts and why I think they are still very relevant to us today. But then again I am what most call Messianic, not Jewish mind you but I keep the Sabbath(s) and the feasts. shalom, Mizz

In the Catholic church they do communion every day. It keeps their focus on the gospel of Jesus Christ--remembering and prolcaiming the Lord's death which saved them (1Co 11:25-26). And how does Passover not do that? Doesnt Passover point directly to Yeshua? The reason we are to keep Passover is for remembrance, remembering how Yahweh brought them out of Egypt, how He delivered and saved them, it is the same today we keep it in remembrance of what Yeshua HaMashiach shed His blood so all could enter into the covenant, that all could have the salvation promised through Him, that through Him we are brought out of 'Egypt'. Not really sure why my post got you to the rcc and what they do. shalom, Mizz

Lydia was in charge of this church! so Paul must be double minded when he wrote woman should 'learn in peace'. Phillipians 4:2 references to two women, Euodia and Syntyche who were in leadership roles. Poor Deborah who was appointed as a judge just didnt know Paul yet to find out how he decided things. First its not about Paul but about what God says, God leads Ruth into an extremely important postition, to teach Naomi about Yahweh then leads her to find the 'kinsmen' redemer. In Romans 16:7 we see Paul extending greetings to a female apostle, Junia. This short article by a gifted Messianic teacher has a lot to say about this: link I agree with this author as well as scriptures its about creating authority, power, putting oneself as 'lord' over the other. Not even male leaders have that over us, a pastor leads the flock, cares for it but does force feed it grapes but allows it to feast on the grass. We often fail to take into account what Paul is actually addressing, woman, pagan gentile woman who have come in to the synagogues and decided to 'upsurp' their husbands, standing up and addressing the teachings instead of waiting, gossiping instead of hearing. Those are the things Paul is speaking against not that woman cannot teach others. I personally have no problems sitting and learning from woman in the pulpit, almost every week we have a woman give part of the talk and boy have I learned a lot from them sometimes more so than the pastors talk. There is an order to all things we see that from creation but to take the stance that woman are not to teach at all is wrong, and on the flip side that all men have authority over all woman is equally as wrong. Saying all that I have a problem with woman as well as men who think they have the truth and force feed it to others also. Let me ask this question, if a man has less understanding, less knowledge of scriptures should a woman or anyone for that matter listen to him over a woman who has greater understanding/knowledge? shalom, Mizz

Sorry, not following your remark. Are you saying that if God himself appeared and asked what evidence we needed to demonstrate his existence, and he provided that evidence, we still wouldn't believe? Yes, I always thought that a little odd. Why would a people who had witnessed the parting of the Red Sea turn to worshiping a golden calf the moment Moses turns his back. It's more than just a little odd, don't you think? It seems to fly in the face of common sense and makes me think that isn't the complete story. There must be another explanation that is not being spelled out. Odd not really if you read and think about it all. They had been waiting for Moses for a long time at least to them, they didnt say lets make a new god nor worship one from Egypt but had Aaron build them a personage, an idol of the one that brought them out of Egypt. Aaron, wrongly, declared a day of feasting to Yahweh not to any other, certainly they should have known better just as Abraham and Sarah should have waited and known better. Yet it mirrors and shows us that we also need to wait on Him, that God neither forgets nor neglects us in any way. It is always about the intent of ones heart, those Hebrews still had Egypt in them and because they failed to learn to wait, failed to learn that God means what He says and says what He means. When we set ourselves up to do things that He has not told us to do we usually end up in some sort of troubles, just like when our parents told us not to do something most of us usually ended up with burnt fingers. shalom, Mizz

At our congregation we do 'communion' every new moon, we also observe Passover each year as a remembrance, as a rehearsal. Heres a neat article about keeping Passover, on that site you can also find how and why Passover is all apart of Yahwehs plan of restoration and salvation. shalom, Mizz

Yes I think that is another important aspect to consider Mizzdy ( I always presume it is Paul speaking...although it is open-ended). Hebrews in particular seems to be full of such strong imagery that was so familiar to the Jews, and is graphically explained in such intimate detail...there are layers and layers to discover and chew on....no wonder a good set of gnashers is a vital necessity. I do assume it was Paul who wrote it although I do know the problems with who did write the letter. Some of the best things are found within the Sod or hidden level of the scriptures, but your right you need a good set of teeth to do it. I am really looking forward to this next Shabbat, we have a speaker coming, an online friend actually!, who has been teaching this way as well as some other pretty neat ways to dig into scriptures it should be a great weekend of study. The title of the book seems to allude to Paul talking to the Hebrew speaking population or at least to those who were brought up in it all, doesnt seem there would be so much a reason to send this particular message to the gentile converts since they didnt have the attachment to the temple as the core body of believers. Imagine knowing the Messiah yet still carrying on with the sacrifices, apostles included, kinda seemed like having them was still ok after Yeshua rose to the throne room, then seeing the coming destruction of the temple knowing that the end of that time was going to be over, what would they do? It seems like they all were fine keeping Torah and Paul explains it so well when he tells them they can still go on keeping His instructions but that the temple is not one of stone and ceremonies but within. And as the temple we are 'built' by His hand, walking in His ways through the Spirit, that alone would have caused great distress I imagine and through this letter the author is calming their fears, showing them how Yeshua is all those things and more. Yahweh never leaves us needing or wanting. shalom, Mizz
-
In many ways Hebrews is written directly to the those who will see the day the temple is destroyed, the writers is getting them ready, showing them that they do not need that sacrificial system any longer that Messiah is the better sacrifice, a priest and intercessor. Paul is preparing them for the loss of the temple, the loss of the familar all the while showing the mercy, the glory, the grace of Yeshua as the High Priest, showing the realities of the heavenly realm.

John describes the Messiah, His life, His work, His death. John gives us what Yeshua is about love. Personally I tell people to start at the beginning, read chpts from Genesis and Matthew and work ones way through the entire bible in order to have a complete picture.

WN: U.S. and Russia clash over Syria at U.N. - USA Today

Or take 30 kids on a field trip! lol Sadly things like this happen, yet a mom who didnt notice that one of her kids was missing until the next morning is hard to understand even if she does have 9 others one would think that a sibling might have said something.

Pastors are supposed to know their 'flock', mega churches and all that don't allow for that intimacy. It really does seem that many churches out there today are just a business with some bible thrown in to make the message seem to be about Yeshua. Some of our new members were in megachurches with watered down messages, one gal even tried to talk to her pastor several times only to be told to make an appt. It is so true that the churches are in big trouble out there.

The problem being that the President, whoever he/she may be, doesn't have the power to abolish laws. That is the purview of Congress. A President can try to influence the passing or repeal of laws but can't actually do it. I hear the current crop of candidates saying 'I will repeal Obamacare' every day. They're full of baloney and they know it, every one of them, although I do believe they want to do just that. Except for Romney; he seems to like universal health care. Yes I know it is congress that does that but so many here say they would never vote for anyone who supports such things, if they do not support those things then you would think the person they elect would work tirelessly to get them out of our laws. So what about when that never happens, I have yet to see a president who did not approve of abortion try to get the laws taken down. Does that make a person who voted for a president who they know will not change the law a sinner? That is what is being said here in many ways whether its outright said or not. Actually it has been said in various places regarding liberals, their salvation has come into questioning, their morals etc. The idea of judging others who vote liberal have liberal ideals and opinions by scripture for secular matters, let alone righteous judgment on a secular govt is kinda odd. Sure we should vote for those who hold to a more biblical mandate but we all know those are truly far and few between if there are indeed any at all. I am and have always been a very conservative minded voter, hardlined in some areas to be sure and have gotten into some pretty knock down disagreements with liberals, my brother comes to mind. Yet I try to do it with some kinds of godly grace whether I agree vehemently with the person or not, and frankly there are some who end up not doing that. And I fail to see how turning the tables and suggesting the person has no christian moral or values helps an argument. This is not directed at you or anyone in particular just making an observation of what I read. shalom, Mizz
-
If a candidate who does not support abortion, tax payers money going for birth control yet fails to outlaw those things while in office, does that mean those who voted for him have committed a sin because the person they voted for didn't abolish those sins? It is a valid question, I mean honestly anyone running for president, congress, whatever, can absolutely come out against such things yet fail to abolish them or not even work towards doing that end. If a person stands on the platform, stands on their principles yet fail to carry out the promise isnt that lying to get the office? I would say so, we hear all the time about campaign promise, words from candidates against such things yet almost always never move to follow their promise or principles. shalom, Mizz

We really do not know what Adam and Eve's 'nakedness' was like, were they shining bright like Moses face because they actually walked with Him? Was their nakedness like ours, something I doubt myself. All that God created was good, it was mans choice that wasn't. But instead of killing them off He showed them His grace and mercy and 'covered' them with a blood sacrifice and gave them another 'skin' to cover themselves. Since God, and Yeshua has given us coverings I would say in our society prone to all its sins man should indeed cover themselves. Theres nothing wrong with our skin, our nudity between our spouses yet since He did cover us we should stay with the example God gaves us. shalom, Mizz

WN: Churches adopt new Ten Commandments - UK Telegraph
mizzdy replied to WorthyNewsBot's topic in World News
Now Sam where did I say a word about hell? Lets see, if we adhere to the basic commandments this teaches us how to love, it teaches how to put our hearts right before Him and our fellow man. You can keep all the commandments you want if you do not have love you have nothing, correct? Love is the center as I said, but love by itself is floating, I can love chocolate, love my dog but if I dont know how to control that love for chocolate I will get sick and probably fat, if I love my dog but fail to love others I have also failed in following Him. There needs to be a basis for love right and the 'right' avenue to do so, I mean we can love God with all our hearts yet our hearts may not love anything else. We know that there are many who claim to love God yet fail to love anything else, that see in that love the license to do as they wish so are they actually keeping any commands but their own idea of how to love. Thats how I see it Sam, one has to have the basis for what those two commandments Yeshua said that were hung on all the others as well as the prophets. -

Yeshua is God, God gave those 10 didn't He? Yes love is at the center of everything, of all we do or should be yet love is abstract also, the 10 give the meat of what God expects us to follow. If you said to someone who doesnt know God or anything about Him that they are to love God and their neighbor that this is what the law stands on, would they know what you mean? Yeshau was not giving new commandments Sam but saying that love is what anchors us to Him and is what leads us to follow all of His instructions. -

Unbelievable! Are we not warned about changing His word?! They are a list of do's and do not's, they are the makers instructions, they are in their original content and purpose meant to help people live as God intended. Clear conscience, take God seriously! wow Isnt that what He taught? Some might welcome this, might even say that its a good thing to help the lost see or those seeking feel better about following His commandments but I say this is just another way of watering down His message, His words and His commandments.
