Emerging Church Move't: threatens foundation
stacey c replied to nebula's topic in Most Interesting News Developments
Honestly sis, it is best to look it up yourself. I was just looking at a few post under the article, and there was some that said the Emerging Church is being mixed up with the Emergent Church. I guess like Christians may get lumped with those who protest funerals. Most often many people have no idea what they are talking about. They speak off of hearsay, without any actual evidence. Sadly, this is what it is becomeing. You want to know why apostosy happens? It is because love grows cold. Eyes are taken off of Christ, and set on men. We forget our tounges are our most dangerous weapons, and speak with graceless, unsalted words. Sis, your questions are not silly, but be careful. Some of the information that you may recieve may be from those you have placed themselves in Christ seat. Thanks ruck1b for the advice. I went back to nebs link and read the posts at the bottom. And it's exactly as you said, alot of back and forth accusations with no concrete evidence. I will definately look it up for myself. Blessings Stacey! Here is a link of an interview with Brian McLaren, by Terry Heaton. Terry asked Brian 10 basic questions, the first 5 are about postmodernism and the last 5 about how he views the media. This is just an interview and will only begin to give you an understanding on this issue. At the very least, it will cause you to ask more questions ... Here is the lead up to the interview by Terry ... "Brian McLaren is a postmodernist Christian leader, and that makes him a controversial fellow in a religion with roots in absolutism. He's the author of ten books and pastor of Cedar Ridge Community Church, an innovative, nondenominational church in the Baltimore-Washington region. He's one of the leaders of Emergent, a growing generative friendship among Christian leaders. In February, Time Magazine listed him as one of the 25 most influential evangelicals in America." I have been at this for a little while and have over 65 sites bookmarked on the subject of New Age and the Emergent Church. Some really informative and some questionable. Do not be discouraged as you find out just how much there is to learn, if you really want to understand. It is a very broad study. God Be With You In Your Studies! Alan Thanks Onelight, I pulled up the interview and this guy sounds pretty sneaky. He talks about the Word of God and the Gosple, but on the other hand, that christians should view the world in shades of grey, and caint we all get along mentality. Is he denying the absolutes of the Word? What God says is right is right, and whats wrong is wrong? Or did I read it wrong? You got the jest of it all. The Emerging and Emergent Churches dissect the Scripture, removing what ever is controversial, causing any form of division, and use only what is harmonious to everyone. Did you catch that he said that future bibles will be like Wikipedia where people will add what they believe? This is a very dangerous belief, but in tune with the world at large ... it could be even thought of as Belief Correct in stead of Political Correct. Good morning Onelight, Yes I saw where he talked about new translations of the Bible coming out someday. He answered like it was ok with him. He didn't state anywhere where he would come agaisnt this. Your right, Belief Correct, it sounds more like New Age, where everything is permissalbe as long as no one is hurt by our actions. Yes Jesus came in love to save the world from their sins. And we have the scripture where "Jesus came not to condemn the world but that the world thru Him might be saved." But He also told them to go and sin no more. He pointed sin out. He didn't tell them yeah it's okay to sin, just don't hurt no one while doing it. People today want to believe that the Word of God is all gum drops and fluffy white clouds. Seems to me that they want to remove the fact the Word is full of teeth and can bite also. Very sad indeed where so called christians put themselves above the righteousness of God, and change His Word to the way they see fit. -
Survey: Wicca Unknown to Majority of Americans

You know manie, my husband and I was just talking about this the other nite. I've just moved back to New England after being away for 25 years, and the occultic spirit here is so thick you could cut it with a knife. I've not felt anything like it before. I've seen things in the physical and spiritual so disturbing it makes my skin crawl. This is definately a battle ground where one must always have their armor on and be prepared for battle. -

This is a two point question. I know first hand that no one is perfect and we all must deny our flesh and allow God to live daily within each of us. And sometimes this is a harder struggle than at others. What about ministers that seem to have very little to no fruits of the Spirit operating in their lives at all? Does it seem okay to teach good Bible lessons but not teach by example? To clarify my question, I know someone who is a minister and teaches home Bible studies, and he really knows how to teach well and usually get his point across, at other times you see and hear his lack of love and gossip get the best of him. I know some of the people who really don't recieve from him,(their family), because they also know him on a personal level and how he is. 2nd question, is it within my boundaries to speak with this minister? He is a family member and I am the closet relative to him associated with his Bible studies.

Shooting beauty: Prize-winning photos of birds

I've always loved looking at birds. They are sssooo beautiful.. Neb you always post the coolest links. Thank you. -
Just a thought Could your dream show a spiritual attack against our children and youth today? We know that satan is the"prince of the power of the air". These air attacks could be demonic attacks at our children. And the first place they are attacked is at school. First prayer and all things Godly are taken out of schools, then the agenda of turning God's truths into lies. Not to mention peer pressure and the total spirit of rebellion running rampant in todays youths. If satan can turn todays kids against God, what would become of the church of tomorrow?

Amen Blien. I got a real wake up call afew years ago! The old saying, when you reconize the devil at the front door, he'll come thru the back is sssoooo true. I had gotten to the place in my walk that I thought I had it all together. God was using me in many gifts, I was teaching Sunday school, I was a good wife and mother, submissive to my husband even when we didn't agree. I THOUGHT I had the perfect humble spirit! Boy did the Lord knock me down a few pedastals!!!!! Even in all my so called humility was a big ol' nasty devil of PRIDE! And I sure did go around thinking I could give advise to other wives on how to be good Godly submissive women. One day the Lord knocked me in the head, and I remember clear as day as I was cooking dinner one night, the Lord spoke to me in volumes! "Humility is not an action, it is an attitude of the heart!" Boy that sure hit me hard. I asked for forgiveness right then and there. We must always be on guard!!!

Emerging Church Move't: threatens foundation
stacey c replied to nebula's topic in Most Interesting News Developments
I must be really sheltered. Although I have seen it mentioned here a couple of times, I don't really know anything about the Emerging church movement. So I have a couple of questions as I am new to my area and am looking for a new church. 1 What denomination are they under? Or do they come in all denominatios? 2 What kind of teaching should I be warned about? 3 How exactly are they contrary to the Word of God? Sorry if these sound like silly questions, but to be fore warned is to be fore armed. -
I like reading these posts, and I don't really interfer with them because I am still learning. But as someone else asked the questions I too would like to know: 1 If the tribulation already happened, how come christ has not come back to rapture His church? 2 Why is the new heaven and new earth not here, with Christ ruling and reigning for the thousand years? I also don't see satan and his demons bound in hell.

Very good Blien! It is exactly what I have found to be truth after many years of battling demons. You have laid out a very good lesson for those who may not know who their battling or the form of attacks they come by. I have never seen demons quite that vividly as you, and I'm not sure I want to! But I have found they come at me espescially by fear and pride! They are crafty, we must always be on guard. THE BATTLE FIELD IS OUR MIND!

Wow direct scripture from the Word of God is tangents? Not all threads start with an agenda. Many of us are here to learn.

Pastor Desires No Feedback
stacey c replied to Shiloh62's topic in Have a problem? Looking for advice?
I believe it was Onelight that said not all pastors are the same. That is so true. I also agree as a couple of others that said take the pastor aside and ask him if he could set time aside for your testimony. Remember the leading of the Holy Spirit should come before anything else. The pastor maybe feeling the H.S. leading him in a different direction. Also remember that a mid-week service can run long if the pastor doesn't watch the time, and he may feel theres only a short amount of time to teach what he is felt to get across, i.e. theres people who need to get up early for work the next morning or kids to get up early for school. He maybe trying to take everybodies time into consideration. -
I was in a church for many many years I thought was what the general idea WOF movement was, until I joined here and looked up some of the big named wof preachers taught. I really don't know if some of it was taken out of context or not but somethings are wwwaaayyyy out there. But as dcampstart said it is a balance. As jade posted the scriptures, we will suffer trials and tribulations, that worketh patience, and patience worketh our faith, there are also many, many scriptures that state "by your faith...." We are always to keep God first and foremost on the mountain top and in the valley. I don't believe we are all to be millionaires, but He does want us to have all our needs met according to His riches in glory. As for healing, it is alive and well, and God does want us to walk in health, I don't believe God purposely inflicts pain and disease upon us, "All good and perfect gifts come down from above" but we do live in a fallen world where sickness runs rampant, but we are still to keep our faith and trust in Him during those times. Matt.7 :9-11 "or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will give him a stone?" "Or if he ask for a fish, will he give him a serpent?" "If ye then being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good gifts to them rhat ASK him?"

Will God punish us because our government has become a godless government. Yes He Will. Will God punish our nation because for the most part we have become a godless nation? Yes He will. But as of this very day God has NOT left the building. But He will in the future. So you need to stop saying that He has because so far He is still in control of America and we are still living at a much higher standard of living then 95% of the rest of the people in the world. You stop telling everybody that God has forsaken us and I will stop telling you that He hasn't. OK. One of the things I tell all that I can is that according to prophetic scripture is that in order for prophecy to be fulfilled. The EU most become the most powerful nation in the world both economically and militarily and America most decline in it's power and we are starting to see that happening now. As long as all or most oil is purchased with us dollars. We will remain some what stable. But when that stops it will be a major blow to our economy. You are correct in that we can see our economic decline traveling along the same route as our moral decline and the truth about it is that no matter what we do about it or try to do about it we are not going to be able to stop or change our downward progress. Why? Because prophetic scripture must be fulfilled. Why? Because God said so. I figure that most everybody on this web site can see what is going on in our country but as long as we are blessed beyond most of the people in the world God is still with us as a nation and when He is not He will still be with us who are His people whether we are living well or not. That is what true faith is all about. Do we hang with Him in only good times or do we hang with Him in bad times as well. I have studied about the early church in Rome and even though the body of Christ was under severe persecution, they inspired non believers to become believers because non believers could that they had something special and were willing to commit to being persecuted to be a part of Christ. Amen Massorite Very well said.

AAAAHHHH, more Obama and America bashing, how christian like. Obama is president because God has placed him there. All things are in God's hands. He raises up leaders and takes them down. Where are our Moses' of today? When God was displeased with the nation of Isreal, Moses stood in the gap and began to plead to God for his nation. Are we pleadingGod for or ntion, or our we too busy whining? We need to be holding up our president and nation to God. That God will give him wisdom and lead the way He wants him too.

How is this judgement on the church? This was foretold in the Word. God is allowing this to happen because He will not go back on His Word, and it is the last days being ushered in.

Thank you all for your words of encouragement. What an awesome God we serve.
