  1. I think you really hit the nail on the head, when you stated that should you be trying to help your brother when you have some of the same problems. Just as you trust the Holy Spirit to work on the inside of you, as it sounds like He's doing, i.e. you reconize some things are not appropriate to watch or listen to, trust the Holy Spirit to do the same in your brother. I'll pray for you and your brother, that you'll hear the Spirit when He talks to you.
  2. I would like some help from our Bible scholars here please! I am by no means a scholar of the Word although I have read thru the Bible many times. I don't know how to "study" the word. I would like to learn more about the OT for my benefit, and although I read all these threads that get into the history of the Jewish people, I really don't have a clue what is being said for the most part. Many of the commentators or theologians I have no clue who they are! Can someone advise me as to a good place to start as I would really like to learn about customs, traditions and History about the Word. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thak you all and God bless stacey c
  3. You know . . . the way therories go . . . Do you suppose someone is going to try to argue that the tunics of skin meant that God made new bodies for Adam and Eve out of chimpanzees? There is a very good possibility. The theories people come up with!
  4. Just do not make the mistake of confusing holiness for legalism. If someone wants to obey God, keep His commandments, and honor His words this is a good thing, especially when done out of a love for Christ. I have found that even though we have been called to holiness by God Himself, the church looks down on those trying to live right, calling them legalistic and judgmental. I think that is a good point. We should all aspire to be Holy. I still don't have a good definition of "legalism" though, what exactly does it mean is there an agreed upon definition? I don't have an exact definition either. But I always refered to legalism as a "religious" spirit. Or like the pharisees, they were like white washed seplachurs, all clean on the out side but full of dead mens bones. But I don't believe thats all christians or churches or even the majority.
  5. IMO the shepards and the kings represent who Christ is to us. He is our great shepard and The King of KIngs. Just as I don't think it coincidence that He was born a carpenters son. He is our Foundation and Cornerstone, He builds our temples, he is the Living water that flows up from our bellies, and He is the Word that lights our paths. Just MO.
  6. I have found in my walk that God will use the same "type" of person or situation to build my faith. Alot of times He is trying to work out issues in me. And if I run from these situations and not crucify my flesh and defeat these trials in the flesh I find myself going around the same ol' mountain again and again. God wants us to conquer theae mountains in faith and walk victoriously.
  7. Matthew 24: 23Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. 24For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. 25Behold, I have told you before. That means believers can be led astray in getting tongues without interpretation. 1 John 4: 1Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. That means believers can be influenced by false spirits, otherwise, why bother testing them if they could not? Those that follow the voice of the Good Shepherd and not the stranger's voice will heed the call to do this. Luke 13:24Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able. Matthew 7:13Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. 15Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. That means that false prophets will broaden the Way to God the Father by offering another invitation and another Door than just the one to Christ Jesus... and they are doing it by offering one for the Spirit. Thus the call to narrow the way back to the straight gate: Jesus Christ, to avoid false prophets and false spirits. John 10:1Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber......4And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. 5And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers........ 7Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. A stranger's voice is as the world speaks and as the world hears: gibberish 1 John 4: 4Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. 5They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. You believe in Jesus Christ and thus you are of God, sister, BUT not every supernatural event in your life is of God. Do not take pride in something you did not test nor discern by the Word of God. May the Lord help you to do this. By ignoring the narrowing of the Way back to the straight gate to be ready for His appearing, then one is leaving the door open for false spirits to do their thing when believers place the Holy Spirit in the worship place, pray to the Holy Spirit, honour the Holy Spirit, or sing to the Holy Spirit even if one stanza in the song is dedicated to Him. By not keeping your eyes on Jesus against that which the indwelling Holy Spirit is leading us to do, then believers are not watching and suffering their houses to be broken through. And as a thief works, they leave... not possessed the home they are burglarizing. Ask Jesus in prayer... and I do mean without the prayer language. Ask Him to give the wisdom for discernment as God does call every member of the seven churches in Revelation to examine themselves and to trust Jesus to help them be ready. Pruning is needed in the churches, big time. You keep ignoring the fact that has been stated to you that the Holy Ghost IS GOD! He is deserving of worship, honor, and praise. He is God and cannot lead us away from Himself. You also keep ignoring the scriptures that have been posted to you that many were baptized/filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak in tongues. That tongues is for the edyification of the believers. It's for building our faith. Those who worship must woriship in Spirit and in truth. You say I believe in Jesus, so I'm a sister in Christ, but on the other hand I'm indwelled by devils speaking gibberish. Man cannot serve two masters, so which is it? You say that all the supernatural things in my life are not of God. Do you know me personally brother? Do you know what my God has brought me thru? How it was the power of the Holy Ghost that has brought me thru the most horrifing times of my life? You advise me to seek for discernment and wisdom but not in my prayer language, which is the Holy Ghost in me leading me to the Mind of God. So I am to seek for the mind of God, but not in the Spirit of God, which leads me there. I become very skeptical when someone is trying to draw me away from the spiritual things of God into the things only the carnal mind can comprehend. Brother I am praying very earnestly for you. Do not turn off from the spiritual things of God, God is a Spirit, and we must worship in spirit and in truth. Please, please, please be careful of what you speak. Blasphemey of the Holy Ghost is a grievious thing with God. And it is better for one to put a milstone around his neck and cast himself into the water, than to lead one of His little ones astray.
  8. My pastor in Florida, whom I sat under his teaching for 19 years always said " Those who are spiritual see God in everything every day. If you don't reconize God in the small you'll never see Him in the big things."
  9. Why is veryone always looking for the "big" signs and wonders when God does the small and incredible everyday. What about that little baby that should have died at birth, but today is a beautiful 20 yr. old women, is that not a big miracle although the whole world never heard about it. That is a miracle to her momma, me. What about that little old lady who prayed for her 7 children to walk with Christ before she went Home, I know her, her children all walk with the Lord now after momma spent years on her knees for her kids. To her thats a miracle. I could go on and on.. My husband 2 years ago dropped a 800lb tombstone on his leg at work crushing it. Doctors told him it was a miracle he didn't lose it, then told him he would probably barely ever walk again. He walks just fine praise God! That was a miracle.
  10. Amen brother. Ihave felt this earnest desire to seek more of God, and draw nigh to Him, then so many times I let other things get in the way. Thank you for the reminder God ALWAYS comes first then all things shall be added unto us.
  11. Poorinspirit, good afternoon brother You keep referring to tongues coming from an outside spirit, as posted before that is not the case. It is agift from God, the Holy Spirit is God, it comes from inside a believer. A person does recieve the promise of the Holy Spirit upon salvation, so how can a evil spirit posses a believer for them to manifest tongues in the demonic? Light and darkness cannot abide in the same temple. You also keep referring to the belief that if one doesn't speak in tngues and thus is a different path to the truth of the Gosple, ALL charasmatic denominations donot believe that! Matter of fact I never even heard of that until I read your link in another thread, and as I stated before I have walked in the Lord for 32 years. You will always find sects of denominations that twist the scriptures to fit their theologies. There are many sects of denominations that add to scripture about the way to true salvation, does not mean the WHOLE denomination is wrong.
  12. Seems easier to make that statement above then to say Wow God was that from you. I just did not get one positive response from this post directed towards signs and wonders yet all seem to mostly forbid welcoming it. I guess it is easier to discredit the fact that all of you would be a prime candidate for this in your life! Shows how far we have come in 2000 years still at the baby stage of growth! Maturity and wisdom in Him comes after a lot of time is spent in His word and laying our life down so that He can work in our hearts and minds to change us into His image, as we should be. A dream alone can not do this. Onelight, I would have to agree. I just had thid discussion with a brother in the Lord last night at Bible study. Just because we feel things in the Spirit about what He wants to do or say or wants to use us to do does not mean we are to jump the gun right then. The sign of a truely mature christian is to know when God is saying to move or when to wait. The brother I had a discussion about this with, was saying how he knew God was telling him things abut individuals and he would tell them, most of the time offending that person. But we know God's word will not come back void, and if he was waiting upon the Lord to reveal these things most people would recieve what was said, but their hearts were not ready for it. Therefore we must wait for God's timing. This brother didnot recieve what I had to say, I believe because I am a female. But back to the topic, sometimes in our fervor, we step ahead of God hoping He will catch up with what we want to do. Temperance comes with maturity.
  13. A couple of points poorinspirit, When someone says seeks "more" of the Holy Spirit, it's not that the Holy Spirit has left them. Scripture tells us in a few places, to draw nigh to God and He will draw nigh to you, Building up yourselves in your most holy faith praying in the Holy Ghost, It is a matter of me decreasing so that He may increase. God is a Spirit, and we must worship Him in spirit and in truth. I must have my spirit more in line with His Spirit so the Daystar may rise in me. Salvation is not the only step in my christain life, it is the beginning. Jesus wants to control all my life. He is continually leading me and speaking to me, changing me into His image, but I must be intune to the Holy Ghost continually to know the will of my Savior for my life. I think dcampstarts post about the "mist" and the "torrential rain" was a very apt description about the difference of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and the baptism of the Holy Ghost, which has been pointed out in scripture several times already. It doesn't make anyones salvation less than another.
  14. Hi poorinspirit, I think there is a couple of misreprenstations that you are under, correct me if I am wrong and clarify them please. But first off, I have been a charismatic all my christain life, which has been 32 years. First off I have always believed once you are saved you recieve the promise of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, and I have never heard it taught different no matter what church I attended. Secondly, the baptism of the Holy Spirit is not an on again off again expierience. In other words, the gifts of the Spirit in operation are not coming from an outside source. It is the Spirit within you welling up as you worship in the Spirit. And I do agree that if you are in a church service and someone begins to give a message in tongues there is definately nedds to be an interpretation, and if not one needs to remain silent. And someone praying in tongues in private is for that individuals edification and building up of there faith. Lastly it is impossible, when you seek after more of the Holy Ghost that you are entertaining devils. The HOLY GHOST IS GOD. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost are all God. They are one. They all have the same mind, thoughts, and gifts. Therefore when You recieve a gift from the Holy Ghost it is from God, and Jesus is God. So when you say someone who seeks more of the Holy Ghost is not seeking after Jesus is wrong because they are all one God.
  15. And the most disturbing thing of all is that they are not seeking the gift from Jesus, but from the Spirit as if He is the Mediator. Tell me how that doesn't leave the door wide open for false spirits to come through? Tell me why God would have people seek tongues in the same format of the world?
  16. well I was going to say something smart alec but I didn't want to offend any pagan hunters.... So instead everyone have a very Happy New Year and may you feel the presence of our Lord as never before this year. God bless you all Stacey c
  17. I have to have new ones? I'm still trying to get last years done!
  18. What awesome testimonies! Praise the Almighty God! I could feel the Holy Ghost all over those stories. I believe God has definately called you into the ministry of Intercession. My cousin also has a tremondous call in this area, and she has described some of those feelings also, of the uncontrolable weeping and groaning in her spirit. There are times I feel the call for intercessory prayer for certain things or people, but my calling is in the prophetic. The Word says "All things work to gether for the good..." you heeded the call of the Spirit and your grandson was healed, and you came back to the Lord. What an Awesome God we serve. God bless you stacey c
  19. Intercession is not in the scriptures that list "gifts" of the Spirit. But there is a definate calling or ministry for intercessory prayer, and it can be quite a heavy calling. I feel theres a great call in the Spirit for our prayer warriors to come forth.

    I chose JESUS

For God cannot fail in anything He does. He won't fail. Jesus will loose none that the Father has given to Him. LT Since God is the alpha and omega He knows the beginning and the end. He already KNOWS who will accept the gift of salvation, and follow after Jesus until the day of the second coming. God already knows 100% of the christains who will be in heaven, therefore Jesus will not lose any of the ones that God already Knows will be in glory.

    I chose JESUS

You will notice in vs 19 (though not mentioned in your quote) that Joshua, said unto the people that "You cannot serve the Lord"; even though they seemingly made a choice to do so. Peace in Christ. Jeremiah That verse also states it is because God is a jealous God, He wasn't going to share His worship with any other god or idol. But in v.25 Joshua mase a covenant with the people that day, v.26 And Joshua wrote these words in the book of the law of God. Joshua made a covenant between the people and God.
  22. Happy Birthday Kross
  23. While it sounds good, let me ask you this question; Was it OK for GOD to choose a people for HIMSELF before JESUS came? Why is it not acceptable now? If the old tesament is a foreshadow of what is to come, why is this not understood? And, if GOD knows that no-one in this world will ever choose HIM, thus all would be condemned, is it wrong for HIM to step in and save some for HIS glory and HIS purposes? It is HIS creation and HE does as HE pleases. But weren't there those before Jesus who were not of the Jewish nation who were "saved" because of their belief in the One True God? And I agree, it is The Holy Spirit who draws all men unto Himself at one point in their life or another. Man either eccepts that gift or rejects it, God knew from the beginning every choice or descision man would ever make in his life time, but He loved the world so much He sent His only Son to save mankind from their sins. God created man to worship Him and have fellowship with Him, so why wouldn't He want all of mankind to worship Him?
  24. You bring up a good point. Judging someone for what you have already prechosen them to be seems rather pointless and cruel, in that God predetermines who will be disallowed from receiving Christ and then they are judged for a sin they were basically forced to commit. It also brings up the issue of preaching. If God has already saved from antiquity those prechosen to be saved, then preaching the gospel is another pointless act. There would be no need to plead and intercede for sinners if there is no hope of them being allowed to receive the gospel. God would not send out missionaries to convert those who were already saved from before the foundation of earth. If they are already saved from before creation, then no amount of preaching or the lack thereof, can have any possible effect on the outcome. There is no justice in God judging those who rebel in the last days if they had no choice but to commit such rebellion and even more, to do so because God allegedly foreordained that they should hopelessly lost in this rebellion with no hope of salvation. In this view, God is judging people for a sin of rebellion that they had no choice to commit and additionally were denied by God, the oppotunity and ability to repent of. Nothing could be further from the truth and further from the nature and true character of God as revealed in the Scriptures. Exactly Shilo, what is the point of spreading the Gosple? Why do we need to witness or give our testimony? The Lord tells us we are the light of the world and the salt of the earth. Why? What would be the point of being the light of the world if those in the world don't even see it. So many things wouldn't add up if those in the world had no hope of salvation at all. Why would I need to be a good witness for Christ if it was a fruitless endevor?
  25. I don't mean to get in the middle of this debate, because I know what I believe and I couldn't even come near to stating my position as clear as Shilo does but here is my honest question on what I don't understand. If the theology that God has already chosen some for salvation and the rest to damnation whats the point of the tribulation? We know it's for God to prove who He is to the world and to destroy the enemy. Then we know He will judge those of the world for their sins, but why judge them? They had no choice for their life and rejection of Christ because they were already damned to the lake of fire from the foundation of the world? So after all hell on earth breaking loose during the tribulation, the lost are then sentenced to eternal torment, all over things they had no choice over? We know God has many attributes, loving, just merciful, He can be an angry God, in the OT we see a vengful God, but unfair and cruel? I don't mean to talk of end times here, theres another forum for that, I just need an honest answer.
