  2. You say........ If they can force people out of their homes every two weeks, why can't they just close down that part of the U.S and turn it into a National Park or something? This is very upsetting to me! most people can't even afford to stay in their homes due to the economy. How could you be so callus. Its a good thing we have weather technology these days. Unbelieveable! Do you have any idea how many people still to this day are unable to rebuild there homes, im sure you have a roof over your head, what have you done to help the people who have been wiped out do to "weather". What about the people who live in Tornado ally are they surrposed to just up and leave there homes too! You need to have some compassion for the people who live in these areas, obviously you have never lived there, or have been through anything of this kind.
  3. Just yesterday for our sunday bible study we did something different. One of our members is going on his second missionary trip to Sudan. He brought in a slide show and presented what he went through on his first trip (it was the first of three classes he will present at). In my blissful ignorance of what is happening out in the world, feeling so safe and confortable living here in the United States, I was humbly brought down to reality. Yes I have seen movies and the news, but until it is close to you it does not seem to effect. As he was telling us of the dangerous mission he was on I was thinking... danger and missionary work should not go together... but oh it does...I can now imagine/feel how it would be to be pursecuted for believing in Christ. I know it has been happening for all time and will continue... but as i said .. it is now close to home for me. He explained to us about the orphans and women, he gave us statistics and facts and the numbers for such attrocities it is hard for me to even mention here. I will now be praying for this country and for my friend who will be returning.. I will never forget the look on his face when he was showing us the pictures of his Sundanese friends (his words) he felt such love for them. I want to be like him and have Gods love in me to someday do what he is doing. His second trip is to help with an orphanage for girls.
  4. My son is 9, he is in fourth grade, last night was only our second night of homework and it ended in total frustration on both our parts. I asked him what he was surrposed to do with two of his assignments and he said he didnt know, I asked didnt your teacher tell you or explain to you what to do. He said no. But I emailed the teacher and as I expected she had explained it. She said he would rather play with his pencil or look around the room and do things his way. I am so frustrated and disappointed in myself because I get angry with him. I loose my patients and so does he, but I know it is because he is so like me. Someone once told me not to pray for patients is that true, cause right now I need it alot! any one have any good ideas on how I can get him to pay better attention in school.
  5. This was beautiful, my grandfather was just laid to rest last year with military honor. Thank you for this. I will share.
  6. Adapted from Strengthening the Adult Sunday School Class, by Dick Murray. Copyright 1981 by Abingdon Press. Permission is granted to copy this page for Disiple use. 1. The Word of God is Jesus Christ, and the words of the Bible tell us about the Word. Therefore, when we study the words of the Bible we always look behind, in, and through those words for God's Word - Jesus Christ. 2. No Christian has a monopoly on understanding either God's Word or the words of the Scripture. This includes biblical scholars and the most unlearned Christian. All of us must listen to one another as we seek to understand the richness of God's gifts. 3. We must assume everyone has Christian integrity and not accuse one another of being unchristian, no matter how unusual are the opinions. 4. We must further assume that we will arrive at different understandings of portions of Scripture and that that will not disturb God as much as it will some of us. 5. Few of us will know Hebrew or Greek, and we therefore need to use a variety of English versions to try to understand the text. 6. While we accept our differences, we do not feel that those differences are unimportant, or that they should be ignored or treated as if they did not matter. 7. Different beblical understanding can remain among us, but we can still be warm christian friends. In fact, as we grow to better understand our differences, we can grow in our appreciation of one another. Just wanted to share, these are great principles to follow, we use them in our bible study.
  7. The Da Vinci Code is a fantastic novel and I loved it; it is, however, just a novel. It's fiction and is put forth as such. It's not an attempt by Dan Brown to influence religion or anything else. It's just fiction. Im in agreement here, it is FICTION, fiction is not truth, many novels involve facts around there fiction it makes the story more interesting .... but again it is not truth it is fiction.
  8. It would be so much fun to share and compare ideas and show things we make to others and give praise.
