Everyone has done it - we've all divulged details we should have kept to ourselves. Some people view 'some' gossip as being harmless - I do not think there is any such thing as 'harmless' gossip. It's been said that those who listen to gossip are as guilty as those who gossip. I pray each day not to carry or listen to gossip. I know of no one who hasn't at some time in their lives been harmed by loose lips... We never know when we are going to say things that will needlessly hurt others. I agree with David's comments about why people gossip. Blessings to you. Romans 1:29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips... # Proverbs 11:13 A gossip betrays a confidence, but a trustworthy man keeps a secret. Instead of conversation about issues, we converse about accusations and inuendos that have little or no foundation. Whether something is true or false, if it is spread in such a way as to undermine a person's character or position, whether intentionally for that purpose or not, it is gossip. What if it's about someone that is doing something wrong. "I saw him to this terrible thing while no one was watching." Is that gossip as well?
