I've seen the guy perform and he's pretty lame. Maybe he's wonderful to other people? Lame performance?...as in standing in the middle of the stage singing a slow ballad, ala Boyle? lol She's singing....eminem is RAPPING. Which is basically noise with music in the background.... Maybe it's because I hate rap? And anyway, he sounds just iike all the other rappers.

You're just looking in the wrong places. I'll send you some recommendations via PM later. You won't find much new listening to radio and watching MTV stuff. Someone like me who doesn't have a performance voice simply admires anyone who can perform well with his/her voice. Someone with a performance voice - or does well performing with their voice - has higher aspirations to what they will admire. . . like someone who actually composes their own music. Someone who writes and composes their own music might be considered more talented than someone who simply sings other people's songs. Somoene who is more creative with music (I'm guessing that's what M&M does ) might be a higher ideal to the one who writes their own music. Make sense? I for instance find jazz to be discordant, but love blues and folk. I even find some christian music discordant and not to my taste, although the message may be the truth. Yes, certainly not for young people, but I find his use of bad language is transparently for effect, as with his portrayals of violence.
Guest yod
Where exactly does his talent lie? I've seen the guy perform and he's pretty lame. Maybe he's wonderful to other people? Lame performance?...as in standing in the middle of the stage singing a slow ballad, ala Boyle? lol Honestly, Eminem's biggest talent is his lyrical cadence. Every rapper tries to develop their own style and cadence. As a fan of the genre, I tell you his cadence is mind-boggling to me. He is just able to do so much lyrically with his cadence that it really just caught people by storm. Its the same thing that every artist tries to find...that "new" hot sound that just catches people unaware. The Beatles (60s), Pink Floyd (70s), Metallica (80s), Nirvana (90s), Eminem ('00)...they all spawned a generation of musical copycats. There are now a dozen imitators of eminem...both in cadence, lyrical style, and content. There are several off-shoots of the rap genre that can be accredited to Em. I have to disagree on the 80s bro. That decade was owned by U2 with honorable mention going to The Police. LA Glamrock and Euro-pop defined the decade though. the 20s was Louis Armstrong The 30s were Bing Crosby (still the most #1 hits of any artist all time) The 40s was Sinatra the 50s was Elvis Beatles we agree on. The 70s was Led Zepplin. No debating that one! I'm not a big fan of eminem but no one came close to him in originality and innovation this decade. winner, hands down or "pants" down.
