Nice when check points are actually on the border though . . . but soon we can have all kinds of check-points for our safety maybe every 3- 5 miles. Think of the jobs that could be created controlling others . . . . But you are taking it to an illogical conclusion. Nobody is talking about them every 3-5 miles. They set these things up "randomly" on internal roads that are most likely to be used by traffickers. And they are not trying to "control others"...they are trying to minimize the illegal trafficking of drugs, guns, and humans into this country...and it works. I don't think you are 'trying' to help those causing the problem...but your opinion that these cops are just out to destroy our liberties and control people with their "authority" undermines the good and dangerous job that they are trying to do. They have the right to stop cars that alert suspicion and do a cursory search. I know not all cops are bad, most are good, but many are ill informed about individual rights but are trained in how to avoid legal confrontation. But if they want a reason to do something they cannot only make one but easily can and often do. I think cops are doing the job they're told to, and their bosses are doing what they're told to, because they all need their paychecks which comes from . . . They just had a thing on the news about the rise in parking tickets raising millions and millions of dollars, over a hundred million in some cities. They showed a street where there were several broken meters that you weren't allowed to park in front of that have been broken for some time. But instead of fixing them, they leave them that way creating inadequate parking and when someone out of necessity parks there they get a $60.00 dollar ticket. Well, which is better for "them," the 25 -50 cents parking fee or $60.00 fine? But hey, its the law and its legal and . . . . oh never mind. By the way . . . I wasn't "taking it to an illogical conclusion" with "every 3-5 miles," sad sarcasm over the direction things are headed . . . But pay attention to all the laws spewing out of Washington and the states and local governments regulating everything in the name of "green" and security. No federal money unless you qualify (comply). No state money unless you qualify (comply). Wait . . . there is no money . . . unless they take one way or another from us . . . or print it. Nonetheless . . . they will get one way or another and give it omly where it serves their agenda . . . and not the people's needs. You will be monitored. You will be regulated. You will be controlled. You will pay more taxes. You will do what you are told . . . or what little you have left of privacy, property and liberty will be taken completely away because to them (government) it is a privilege, not a right . . . and they are amending and passing laws, fees, assessments, taxes and whatever it takes to guarantee the security and safety of their position of power and wealth. He locked himslef in his car for an hour yelling at police while a dog who is trained to sniff out drugs was alerted to his car. Once the police inform you that you are under arrest...you have lost the fight. If you persist in being defiant...they will come and get you. Don't be surprised if they come with tasers and guns, instead of flowers and chocolates. These checkpoints are an important part of our security (we have too little at the border as it is) and the Supreme Court has validated their use...and they have also validated the search of a person's car without a warrant necessary if probable cause is present. Our Fore-fathers died to give us freedoms in this great country and they are being taken away a little at a time. While I agree this pastor should have complied and not be so forceful it was thought provoking that a pastor of a BAPTIST church would be treated this way. Have any of you here ever had enough of something being shoved down your throats? Take Gay marriage a delightful controversy that has christians divided, abortion, divorce are two other subjects that has us divided among ourselves. I am going to tell you what is going to happen within our lifetime. We are going to see a police state in the US. We will travel back in time to the world of hitler, mussolini and others of same ilk. The soviet union once said that America was going to fall without a single shot fired. That was Gorbachov who said that back in the 1960's. I am not for militant behavior here folks far from it. But I believe if we keep allowing the government to take away our rights one day, soon there will be no United States Of America. There will be the socialist state of America. he freebies and benifits the pastor mentioned is what is bringing illegals over here by the thousands. Did you know that if an illegal woman delivers a baby on American soil AUTOMATICALLY her and her entire family get benifits because the baby is "American" We need to slow the flood that is coming. If a woman delivers a child here two choices. One they can all go back to Mexico as a family united or two the child stays then the rest get deported. Thats fair enough when you see our elderly is losing medical care and social security because the system is overburdened taking care of illegal aliens. It's time we do unite and fight for our rights in prayer, mass assemblies and so on. Prayer is powerful. Its time we hold those we elect accountable. No more special deals we cannot afford it. Nope - sometimes under these circumstances when officers do not know who or what they are dealing with - humility won't protect them from harm. They didn't know if this man was a mental case or someone with weapons, drugs, etc. He needed to comply - he had no reason not to. Every time a police officer makes a traffic stop or goes on a call - they never know what they are going to face... just someone who didn't want to be searched or someone who is malicious and could harm them...
