Disciple baptism?

Mar 1:7 And he preached, saying, "After me comes he who is mightier than I, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie.

Mar 1:8 I have baptized you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit."

Mar 1:9 In those days Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan.

Mar 1:10 And when he came up out of the water, immediately he saw the heavens being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove.

Mar 1:11 And a voice came from heaven, "You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased."

If it was good for Jesus, I guess it is good for me.

and again, - Do this in remembrance of me."

Luk 22:19 And he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, "This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me."

Luk 22:20 And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, "This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.

I think Jesus's comment about John questioning Him about batptizing Him is pretty telling as well:

Matthew 3:15

Jesus replied, "Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness." Then John consented.

Considering "the bread and the wine" - it isn't about consuming a little refreshment. It's about remembering Jesus, what He went through, and what He did for us, through a physical activity.

Is this not special to you?

Considering baptism -

I was baptized (sprinkled) as a baby. Growing up in a Lutheran church, I was taught that at the age of 12 you get confirmed, which is "saying yes to your baptism." I thought that was all fine and dandy. But in high school I was with another group of believers who began explaining to me about baptism is for a believer to declare his faith, not for dedication. It is being "buried" in water and then being "ressurected" to new life. I was very confused at first, but the more I learned what the Scriptures said about it, the more I realized that what they were instructing me was true.

So, the first opportunity I was given, I got baptized - the right way.

When I came out of the water, I felt the presence of God! (Wow - just re-living the experience in my memory is filling me witth joy once again . . . I was feeling a bit down all day and right now there's just this huge grin on my face for no reason whatsoever! Wow - thank-You Jesus, I needed that!!) But that's what I felt the Lord's presence manifested as. It was like a shot of joy just struck and filled me out of nowhere - it was an absolute complete surprise! I was like - Woah!!!

And before you try to contest me, know that I do know the difference between the overflowing joy of the Lord I feel in His presence vs. euphoria or an emotional trip. Having still been struggling with chronic depression - I know it wasn't a normal feeling I was feeling. It was something incredible!

And having listened to the testimonies of others who have been baptized, so many have also felt a special touch from God like that in some way or another.

(Anyone else here want to testify how they were encountered by the Lord when they got baptized?)

This is why I do all I can to encourage believers to get baptized. It's so awesome!!

Really - you've got to try it!
