Depends on how old they are and what language they speak.

I have many differant english, greek, and hebrew bibles and many differant translations.

I think a good english bible is the NASV. I also like the NKJV because it avoids all the old english jargon such as thou, ye, and thus.

If you do a little internet research you will find that NASV is one on the most accurate english translations of the bible.

I like to read and study differant translation and I also like to refer back to the orginal greek or hebrew for word studies by doing this it will shed more light on a scripture because translations can be a little off some times.

God bless.

Personally I think it is the good ole fashion King James. It reads at about a 9th grade level

The new King James Version is a bit more descriptive; and may help a new believer.

just my 1/2 cent worth of info

Generally speaking, I say get a version that you find easy to read. For me, KJV is hard to understand.

KJV all the way.

Also it is a thoroughly, documented FACT, the King James Bible agrees with 99% of the Greek NT manuscripts. While the new versions (including some of the NEW King James) uses two primary manuscripts

Jesus Christ Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.

IMHO.........Good ol' KJV is the most accurate. When we consider that John Wesley's mother taught each of her children how to read ON THEIR FIFTH BIRTHDAY, and out of the KJV, I think anyone is quite capable of reading and understanding it.

If, however you're having great difficulties, about 90% of all translations agree on about 99% of the text.

With a blessing,

Leonard, a sinner
