Just goes to prove how little we know.. and how much there is still to know. I couldn't help wondering what if we sent astronaughts to Saturn to build a colony and they didn't know this invisible ring was around the planet LOL Sure would have made the trip interesting!

 Building a colony on a gas giant?

What would you build it on?

and they didn't know this invisible ring was around the planet LOL Sure would have made the trip interesting!

Actually - they wouldn't have any more trouble than the satellites have had.

For one, there's a better chance of missing the ring than hitting it.

Second, the particles aren't that big.

From the article (here):

"The ring itself is tenuous, made up of a thin array of ice and dust particles. Spitzer's infrared eyes were able to spot the glow of the band's cool dust."
