What are good careers for....

Learning about the spritiual gifts given to us by the Holy Spirit I recently learned that I do not have the gift of discernment but rather it's a manifestation of the Holy Spirit's work (1 Corinth. 12). My gift is actually the gift of Exhortation (Romans 12).. which now makes a lot of sense!

So I'm seeking some advice here.. I've been in the middle of a career change. If my gift is of Exhortation, what are some good careers for Exhorters?

Hahaha Jami, I think I would be nervous to be suddenly introduced to your Dad.. we don't even live in the same country! That website you gave me looks great! Says here I could be in youth ministry (I already am since a week ago) so at least I'm doing that right... but I wonder what jobs I can do outside of the church as well...

What does your Dad do?

Yes but the church I teach at doesn't pay me to be a teacher nor do I really want them to.. it's my gift of service to God and it makes me happy to do it without pay. But I need income to survive right? So I wanted to know.. what jobs are most suitable.

Not that I would be evangelizing at work but exhortation is so natural for me in every part of life. I always want to help people do and make the right decisions. Maybe a consultant would be a good job... or a personal trainer..? I don't know. Anyway, can't be a mother first like you.. that would be weird HAHAHAHA

Interesting points.. I should ask..

Well.. I would feel bad about being paid not because anyone would say I am money hungry but it just doesn't seem right to me to take from the church what could be deposited into new projects and developments for the community. The apostle Paul never took any money even though it was his right to do so. Instead he made tents for a living. I want to live the same. I think it's a very honorable way to live and I desire to live like that too.

Really? Why do you say that?

I think this gift would translate into helping others select the right products or services; like life or medical insurance for instance. There are not too many jobs that will pay you to give comfort and consolation....other than being a minister or chaplain, that is. People to fill those positions are very much needed in the world though. :emot-wave:

EXHORTATION: Rom. 12:8 - to come along side of someone with words of encouragement, comfort, consolation, and counsel to help them be all God wants them to be (Greek Word: paraklesis - calling to one

I gave it some thought.. I think I might be able to do the work of a Chaplin.. Sales and Marketing is kind of what I am already into so I think I need to find a niche and work hard at it. Thanks MorningGlory!

      I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

      For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

      2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices. 

      So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

      Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end. 
      Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house. 

      Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

      Shalom everyone,

      As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

      Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
      Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

      So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
