On one occasion Jack Van Impe said that he agreed with Nostradamus' prediction that the Lord would return in 1999. Of Nostradamus, Van Impe said, "The man knew his Bible."  Do you agree with these statements?

In 1999 Jack Van Impe said that the Lord would return between 2000 and 2001.  Then again he said between 2001 and 2012.  This is not specific date setting, but do you also agree that he's getting pretty specific?  Do you agree with these predictions also?

Jack has gone on record as agreeing with pope John Paul's statement that all believers should follow the pope.  He also promoted the new catechism.  Do you agree with him on these points?

I don't think that Jack and Rexella are false prophets.  Just a little overzealous.

Hello to all

Like I said before we as Christians have to be careful on how we speak about Gods anointed, God will hold us responsible for every idle word we speak. Yes. Jack van Impe talks about dates but not once did he say this is the day he will return. Jesus said that by the season we can tell how close it will be to his return. All the pieces are falling in place, The Iraq war, the old Babylon is fighting against the new America. This war was more a spiritual war than everything else. The spirit of Islam has to be removed, remember the Lord said preach my word around the world and then I will return. The Arab nations had not the chance the hear the true gospel of Jesus but with Sadam gone the door has been opend. We are very close to the rapture closer than many think. :a:

I would be very surprised if the Nostradamus, pope, and date-setting would stand up to scrutiny. I doubt Van Impe would condone these concepts. We may not like their personalities, but be fair to their words. Good advice to have specifics from his literature in context, with a chance for Jack to clarify. He may have a propensity to read too many current events back into Scripture, but I share his belief in the imminent return of Christ (like Paul the Apostle), and the need to preach the Gospel until He returns.

The imminent return of Christ for His church ('rapture') means that it could happen any time without warning or signs= 'Perhaps Today' as Van Impe liked to say (Paul in the first century expected it in his life time, as has every generation of believers). I would not be surprised if it is in our life time, but that is not necessarily so. It certainly is closer than it was last year. We have been in the 'last days' for hundreds of years now (Acts ff.). Wisdom dictates that we live as if this was our last day on earth (holy, fruitful), and yet plan like we will be here for old age (life insurance; retirement planning, social concerns, etc.).

He is coming; occupy until He does come.

My favorite verse on the topic of waiting till He comes (occupying as Godrulz said) is Jeremiah 29:4-9:

29:4

Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, to all who were carried away captive, whom I have caused to be carried away from Jerusalem to Babylon:

29:5

Build houses and dwell in them; plant gardens and eat their fruit.

29:6

Take wives and beget sons and daughters; and take wives for your sons and give your daughters to husbands, so that they may bear sons and daughters--that you may be increased there, and not diminished.

29:7

And seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to the Lord for it; for in its peace you will have peace.

29:8

For thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Do not let your prophets and your diviners who are in your midst deceive you, nor listen to your dreams which you cause to be dreamed.

29:9

For they prophesy falsely to you in My name; I have not sent them, says the Lord.

Well, if JVI said that Nostradamus knew his Bible, and is speaking in the context of the AC's appearing during a certain year, don't you think that he is at least endorsing Nostradamus' point of view?

the actual quote from JVI is as follows.  You make the call.:

And Jesus said, "I'm going to tell you when My return is approximately at the door." Luke 21:25. Nations, not nation, singular, nations, plural. Global, as you just heard Rexella quote. "Nations shall be in distress with confusion." The confusion is so great that men's hearts will be failing them for fear for looking after those things which shall come to pass on the earth.

However, since it is global, I believe it will take a global ruler to solve the problem. Now, Nostradamus said that the king of terror would appear November of 1999. I believe Nostradamus knew his bible and knew what the six-day theory was, and so he could put it all together. (Jack Van Impe Show, October 5, 1998)

Whether JVI believes Nostradamus' predictions or not is not evident from this.  But what is evident is that JVI believes thet Nostradamus knew his Bible, and the fact that JVI at least believes this particular prediction by Nostradamus.  That would also indicate that JVI has probably read Nostradamus' predictions.

Not changing the subject, but Nostradamus was born a Jew, but forced into Catholicism by the Inquisition at a young age. Did he know his Bible?  Probably he did. Was he really a brother in the Lord?  The Lord knows for sure.  But from what I've read, Nostradamus engaged in some questionable practices later in his life while he was writing his quatrains, such as astology, for example.

I have nothing agains JVI.  I think he's a real brother in the Lord.  Like some, he compormises in some areas.  And like others, he's really caught up in only one aspect of Christianity, which is really too bad.  I, for one, wish that he was a little more balanced.

But should we not be discerning with him just as we are with others?  I think we need to be equally balanced with the Spirit and the word.  We don't marvel at the guy because he's memorized the whole Bible.  The Jews memorized the Scriptures too, and they missed the Lord entirely.

I can't believe what I am reading. Why do we as Christians bash other Christians just because we do not like their style of preaching ect. We have to be very careful how we speak about Gods anointed. You may not like Paul and Jan Crouch but God is pleased with their works. So is he pleased with Jack and Roxella. So far I seen God bring down Christian preachers who used Gods word and exploided everyone. But just as TBN has been on for 30 years and Jack & Roxella are on for just about that time too I believe tells us that they must be pleasing in Gods eyes.Remember God say's Judge not least ye be judge. We may not always agree with them but over all Jack Van Impe has been right on the button. So I believe if we do not like something they do lets bring it before God and ask him to show us if we are wrong or if they are wrong.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
