However, on the other hand because we are saved, we are different. But this doesn't mean that we can go around questioning the Salvation of others or claiming that they are unsaved still.....

some here on the board live under the idea of:

"if they have not changed in the inside they must not be saved...."

That is actually very true.

While i byno means think anyone will be perfect this side of eternity there definatly is a change when you accept Jesus. it may not be overnight or it may but over time you will be sanctified by God, it is not we who change but God who changes us.

it's not the "changing" that is the issue but rather you observing to see who is changing and who is not.

"He must be saved...."

"oh he must not be saved...."

very Salem-Witch-trial-like.

That is not true. Only YOU know if you have been transformed by the Holy Spirit. No one can look around to see who is or is not. If you are not a new creation in Christ, you are not a Christian. It is as simple as that.

In Revelation3:14-19, Jesus mentions of the church of Laodacea. He called them lukewarm and said that He would spit them out of His mouth. To be spit out of His mouth is obviously a bad thing to happen. Lukewarm christians are people that do profess Christ, but are not walking the walk and are not living the life. They think they can serve both God and be worldly at the same time. They have put other things before God. Jesus said "if you love me, keep My comandments(John14:15)." Jesus wasn't just kidding when He said that. The apostle John also said that this is the love of God to keep "His" commandments(1st John5:7).

Lukewarm christians want to profess Christ and carry the name of a believer in Christ, but don't want to be Christlike. They still want to do the things of the world. They hold onto worldly lusts and ungodliness, rather than live in righteousness(as Titus2:12 explains).

This is a very dangerous thing to be lukewarm for the Lord Himself said that He would spit this brand of christians out of His mouth. What do you think it means to be spit out of His mouth? How would you define being spit out of His mouth?

Lukewarm water in biblical days was full of harmful bacteria and parasites and would make a person violently ill. Water that was lukewarm often had to be boiled before using. Jesus was using lukewarm water as a metaphor for worldly believers.

Hot water has healing and cleansing properties. Cold water is refreshing and edifying, but lukewarm water had no postive value.

it takes doctrine and time for one to transform.

keep it simple and logical.

besides, you are a new creation at the moment of salvation. instantaneously. period.

No, that is sanctification. Tranformation is instaneous. That does not mean we are automatically flawless in our daily lives. We are daily being changed into the image of Christ. That is what sanctification is for. That is a different issue than the inner transformation that makes us a new creation.

Yeah, that is what I said. :emot-pray:

And there it is...the answer to the OP's question...

I thought it was a good question...one I've never really thought of before.

Thank you Shiloh for answering it!

I never heard that verse explained that way. Got to remember it.

why would Jesus want to drink water in the first place? and why would that analogy fit a story about a church that preaches "prosperity doctrine?"

my study bible talks about the "bacteria and water" analogy but i dont buy it. doesnt fit.

It does fit. Laodecia did not have its own water supply but had water that was piped in from Colosse, and another city. By the time the water reached Laodecia it was full of parasites. Parasites and bacteria grow in lukewarm water. So the water had to be treated before drinking.

Jesus used the lukewarm water as a metaphor for the worldliness of the Laodecians who thought their thin Chrisitan veneer was sufficient and they could live worldly lives.

So, the metaphor does fit when you take into consideration that lukewarm water was something very pertinent to the Laodecians, and was something for which they had a very person frame of reference.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
