It comes and goes with me, but I wish it would go for good. I don't know if this is a thorn that will never be removed, but it's very hard to deal with. I can speak to people one on one just fine, but when I have to get in groups in school, or speak in front of people, it becomes really...really bad. I want to pursue a career that involves speaking in front of students...as a teacher. I don't want to let this weakness get in my way. I have time to reverse this, but I wonder where I should start?

Try practicing in front of family members until you get the hang of public speaking.

At least you can throw something at them if they laugh and not worry about going to jail afterward. :noidea:

Hey Deepblue -

I'm an introvert, too. And I still struggle with shyness. It took me about 8 years after graduating college to get the the place I felt confident in myself enough to handle managing a classroom to pursue such a career.

I don't mean to scare you by that.

My point is that overcoming the anxiety is about feeling confident in yourself and in practice.

The more you talk in front of people, the easier it gets.

Maybe you can join the drama club and get involved in acting or something? That could help, perhaps.

But it really takes overcoming self insecurity, and unfortunately, there are no easy answers for overcoming that. But it is something to begin seeking the Lord about.

Uh... speeches to my family have been some of the hardest ... I have had to address large groups of people professionally and I'd rather stand in front of an audience of strangers than people I know... ;)

Don't worry, God will take care of it. Just pray. I'll pray for you too right now that He gives you all boldness. He's helped me get over it too... God Bless You.

Jeremiah 17:7

"But blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him."

Acts 4:24-31

When they heard the report, all the believers lifted their voices together in prayer to God: “O Sovereign Lord, Creator of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them— you spoke long ago by the Holy Spirit through our ancestor David, your servant, saying,

‘Why were the nations so angry?

Why did they waste their time with futile plans?

The kings of the earth prepared for battle;

the rulers gathered together

against the Lord

and against his Messiah.’

“In fact, this has happened here in this very city! For Herod Antipas, Pontius Pilate the governor, the Gentiles, and the people of Israel were all united against Jesus, your holy servant, whom you anointed. But everything they did was determined beforehand according to your will. And now, O Lord, hear their threats, and give us, your servants, great boldness in preaching your word. Stretch out your hand with healing power; may miraculous signs and wonders be done through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”

After this prayer, the meeting place shook, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. Then they preached the word of God with boldness.

Proverbs 28:1

The wicked run away when no one is chasing them, but the godly are as bold as lions.

hello,

I belive that all our fears stem from the root of rejection and performance based acceptance. I too had these fears. I lived as a child who was rejected and abused, who withdrew into a fortress shielded by my own fears of being rejected again. When I was called by Christ on the streets of america. God new my fears and gave me the gifts of worship, teaching, preaching and evangelism. I was very very intraverted. But what Christ helped me see is, my love for him was greater than my love for what people thought of me. I had already lived a life of believing what I perceived of what people thought of me. He showed me what I though they thought of me, really was how I saw myself. He showed me that if I do all things through my greatfulness for what he did for me then it didn't matter what others thought of me. It only matters what he thinks. You see perfect love drives out fear, and replaces it with his assurance of me. He was the most rejected person on earth, even his own desciples, but he stayed focused on his knowing of how much he loved his father and how much his father loved him. Christ has shown me that I can use what I feel more comfortable talking and singing in front of people is in his words. So if you are going to teach ask Christ to help you inccorperate everyday conversations and topics into biblical principles and you will find that teaching becomes natural as your faith. I hope this has helped

In Christ name

James

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
