The damage has only just begun.

From most of the recent polls I've read, more and more Christians don't have an issue with homosexuality, and think there's nothing wrong with being a practicing homosexual and a Christian - esp. younger Christians. How twisted is that?

That is pretty disturbing. But that is what they are getting from popular culture. The very sector of our culture that laughed and mocked those who pointed out that kids are affected by what they see on TV and in the movies, is the same group using TV, music videos and movies to influence our kids.

True. Thanks to the schools and the things mentioned above, these days it's the evangelicals that are the freaks for thinking that people aren't "born" gay.

Speaking of Paul

Romans 1

18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, 21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man

Do not let anyone fool you, they know what they are doing is sin, yet they approve!

When someone says I AM GAY, they are affirming an IDENTITY.

I agree with LadyC and Massorite here.

When in Christ, we are a new creation and BY FAITH we believe we have a new identity IN CHRIST.

No more gay, no more alcoholic....

We believe we have been FREED and DELIVERED through CHRIST.

As a Christian, I am not going to walk around and introduce myself to people saying, Hi guys, I am murdered, a prostitute, a Muslim, a porn addict....

No!

By Faith, I will beleive that though I was a sinner, Christ came and died for me so I could be freed from the bondage of my flesh identity, and I have ATTAINED MY NEW IDENTITY as a Christian through Christ....

The process of sanctification and change to become an imitation of Christ can now begin through the work of the HOLY SPIRIT.

Knapp fails to understand the very genesis of homosexuality, via nurture, not nature. It's an adventitious condition that - apart from a very small residue of hard-core cases - is strongly influenced by the ultraliberal culture, intense peer pressure, tragically abysmal lack of Judeo-Christian moral standards, and of course, family/marital disintegration surrounding the young person's early years & early gender mis-identity. Dr. Joseph Berger of the University of Toronto stated: "I've never come across anyone with innate homosexuality." Well spoken indeed. Jennifer Knapp take note. :o

I don't think that anyone (I'm not anyway) is saying that they are not a new person, that they still walk around telling people that they are/were gay, a sex addict, dope fiend or alcoholic; except as a part of their testimony. Those truly saved ARE a new person in Christ and the old person is dead. I do know that I can't be around a bunch of people shooting heroin or smoking dope, using meth, or hang out in a bar, and for gays, hang out with their former gay friends. I (and they) are not still in bondage to our former sin life, but I have enough sense to know that it is very easy to backslide into former habits unless I keep my eyes firmly affixed on Christ and the Cross. I don't believe for one minute that gays who are saved walk around telling themselves that they are gay and just celibate, but that they have been changed by Christ and are free from the desire as long as they stay away from the trappings of their sin.

You can argue all you want, but there ARE two ways to look at Satan's bondage, and how one looks at themselves; while there is only one way to defeat Satan and escape the bondage. We need to stop making judgments on these people within the Body of Christ, get out of their minds and treat them as any other member of the Faithful as long as they have repented of their sinful lifestyle/bondage.

Parker:

You and I are actually agreeing.

I am responding to the original post about Jennifer Knapp and the fact that her identity should be Christian, and not gay. It is about the identity we choose to endorse.

Of course, all of us are sinners. If we have a weakness, why hang out in an environment that encourages us to fall?

Just clarifying:

1) I am not arguing.

2) I am not passing judgment as God and I know I have sin in my life I am trying to deal with and I am NO WAY in any position to point fingers or throw stones...

What I am saying is: BY FAITH (and that is the beauty of the Gospel) we as sinners are given a new identity in Christ. Based on this new identity, the Holy Spirit can begin working within us to transform us. Period.

So the whole new liberal Christianity movement of saying : I AM GAY and PROUD and CHRISTIAN..... To me, that's where we need to be careful... That'.s when we start digging through the Bible to find verses out of context to justify our own sinful wants. That's how we start speculating that Paul was homosexual....

parker, you're not paying close attention. knapp IS identifying herself as gay, and IS saying it is not a sin. she is willfully in bondage to it. furthermore, this is not uncommon at all. in fact, it's so common that new threads about gay christians are constantly popping up.

so again i ask this question:

if you think of yourself as gay, then you do not think of yourself as a new creature in Christ. if someone does not consider themselves a new creature in Christ, are they?

this is not a trick question, and there is only one right answer. you either ARE, or ARE NOT, a new creature in Christ.

I'm not even talking about that woman. I am talking about gays who have renounced their homosexuality, have accepted Christ as their Savior and are a new person. They may still acknowledge that at on point they were gay. I know some who still dress "butch" but are some of the strongest Christians and are leaders of outreach towards the gay community. I'm not in the head of the changed person and how they think of themselves. That is between them and their Savior. I am a new person, but I am also a clean and sober alcoholic and drug addict. Do you judge me on that or do you accept my words about my salvation as true? That is what we have to consider when were look at these people. I can't say it any more clearer than that, neither do I want to continue in this conversation with you. To me, you seem to have become more confrontational lately and I want no part of it. Be blessed.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
